Adipex FeedbackIf you have used Adipex, please help others by adding your feedback. What would you tell someone considering using Adipex? Please remember that we do not give medical advice. That is for your local health care provider, who is familiar with your medical history.Subj: Eclampsia Date: 12/21/2006 I took adipex at the beginning of the year and it took off 20 pounds in 1 1/2 months. It worked great but it had me extremely tired. My appetite was completely gone and I had to force myself to eat. I think that the fatigue came from not getting enough nutrition throughout the day. After that 1 and 1/2 months of taking adipex I found out that I was pregnant and gained all the weight back plus an extra 20 lbs. After giving birth to my child I got pre-eclampsia. I don't know if it had anything to do with all that weight I loss and gained back so quickly or not. This was pregnancy #4 for me and I have never had a problem with pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure/hypertension)before, during, or after any of my previous pregnancies. I still have a month worth of pills left that I had planned on taking after this pregnancy so I could get this weight back off, but my Dr. has put me on blood pressure medication. I don't know if it's safe or not. I would like it if someone could let me know if they have taken adipex while on blood pressure meds, or if someone could let me know if its safe or not. Raygan AskDocWeb: It doesn't sound safe to us because Adipex raises blood pressure. You will probably need to wait until your blood pressure in under control before starting Adipex again. And while you are on it, have your blood pressure checked 2-3 times a week to make sure it stays normal. If it doesn't you will have to stop Adipex. Eclampsia is the gravest form of poisoning of pregnancy. Symptoms can include grand mal convulsion, coma, water retention, high blood pressure, and protein in the urine. A convulsion is often preceded by anxiety, pain under the breastbone, blurred vision, headache, and overactive reflexes. Sometime convulsions can be prevented by bed rest in a quiet, dimly lit room and by injecting a calming drug into the muscles. The treatment of a convulsion includes keeping the mother's airway open, protection against convulsive injury, drugs to stop the convulsions and lower the blood pressure. Once that is done, the child can be born. Eclampsia occurs in 2 of each 1000 pregnancies in the USA and the cause is not known. Subj: Constipation Date: 12/22/2006 Adepex 37.5, I have been taking this sent September 06 and have lost 23 pounds which I am proud of. Since I started taking this I have constipation. I have to take medicine to go to the bathroom. When I take this I go and have no problems, but if I don't take it I will not go. Is this something to worry about? Thanks Terri AskDocWeb: It sounds like you are not drinking enough water or not eating enough fiber in your food. Constipation is a known side effect of Adipex. Subj: Thrush Date: 1/3/2007 I am amazed at the results from this pill, however I have developed a case of thrush. Could this be a side effect of the drug? Candice AskDocWeb: Although it's possible, it doesn't seem likely. Thrush (a fungal infection of the mouth) is not listed as one of the side effects. See your physician to get rid of this. Subj: Mood swings are horrible Date: 1/5/2006 I have been taking Adipex for about 5 months now and have lost 65 lbs.! It cuts your appetite to almost nothing. I didn't have jitters or a nervous feeling at all. To be honest I didn't even exercise more than I normally do; which isn't very much. I did experience a lot of dry mouth, severe constipation and here recently my mood swings are horrible. I get so irritated at the least bit of displeasure and it is like one minute happy, the next minute irate. I had heard that this drug can in some cases cause mood swings (of course after I had been taking it) so I stopped; took a break from it for a few weeks. The very day I started taking it again the same thing happened. I all of the sudden, out of nowhere became so aggravated and tense. There wasn't even an event that sparked the mood, it just showed up on its own. I am naturally a very happy person most of the time, but on this medication I sometimes feel like a psycho. I can also say that I have so much energy since I've lost the weight and it has done so much for my self confidence. I am much healthier for my son and have reduced my risks for diabetes (which is extremely common in my family) and heart disease as I am a smoker. I have another month of the medication and would like to drop the last 30lbs to reach my goal weight, but at the same time I am not sure if I want to be a crazy person for another month to get there. Luck to all! Happy in Jax Subj: Have problems with Adipex Date: 1/13/2007 I have taken adipex on numerous of occasion but never quiet finish the bottle. I lost like 8 pounds in a week time since I been on it but I notice that I have problems going to bed at night. And have mood swings. Latanya Subj: Need a boost Date: 1/27/2007 I have yet to use the product, however I am excited about it. I have heard that it is great. I feel that I am at a plateau with my weight and need a boost. Would you recommend this for me. I am a diabetic, taking Byetta shots 2x per day, taking lisinpril, zolft. would I be able to take this product cause I would really like to order some ASAP. thank you Babyblu AskDocWeb: No, we do not recommend this product for you because you are a diabetic and are on an anti-depressant. Subj: Eating healthy now Date: 1/30/2007 I'm on my second day with adipex. I'm hardly ever hungry and I have energy to do things (and not just crash into bed after work). I do have a looming sleepiness (sort of worn out) and I got a headache today. Today might have just been a bad day though. The pill is probably putting some stress on my body that it isn't used to yet. I haven't worked out on it yet (honestly I'm sorta scared I'll pass out because I'm eating so little) but I will soon. I like that I don't eat so much anymore, it makes me proud of myself. I know once I get off adipex I'll be able to resist over eating so much easier and since I'm only eating healthy foods now I'll start craving strawberries instead of candy. Kelly Subj: Lost 17 pounds in one week Date: 2/5/2007 I started taking adipex about a week ago I am 5'5 and was 175 pounds now just 7 days later I am 158 pounds and I feel so much better, can't wait to see where I will be at in 3 more weeks! Brandy AskDocWeb: You might want to talk to your doctor this. Loosing weight too fast is not healthy. The faster you lose weight the more likely you are to gain it back. Subj: Wonder pill Date: 2/7/2007 Well I'm tired of all the different weight loss pills on the market they just don't work and a family member told me about this wonder pill. I'm trying them as we speak and I love them. I was 262 pds and I have lost 26 and I'm still going. Leontine Subj: Heart problems Date: 2/8/2007 I have been tanking Adipex off and on for the last 10 years I have not had any problems, but my friend tells me that it can cause heart problems. My doctor said this is only true if you had heart problems to begin with. What do you think? Deneal AskDocWeb: We agree with your doctor. Subj: Hair question Date: 2/9/2007 I have been taking adipex for about 2 months, I have lost weight on 1/2 pill a day. My question to you, can these pills cause my hair to become dead and uncontrollable? Willadean AskDocWeb: There have been no reports of anything like that. Subj: Dizzy Date: 3/5/2007 I have been on this medication for 4 days and I feel quite dizzy not much. When I eat I feel like throwing up is that normal.. Leslie AskDocWeb: Since you are feeling vertigo and suffering with nausea you better consult with your physician before you go any further. Subj: False positive pregnancy test? Date: 3/8/2007 Can adipex cause a false positive pregnancy test? Recently I was taking adipex and 4 pregnancy tests show positive. I stopped the adipex and now the pregnancy tests are negative. Can this be a side affect?? I have not started my periods so I am just wondering. Kimbaughman AskDocWeb: We've not heard of this one before, that is strange. Subj: After reaching your goal Date: 3/14/2007 Has anyone quit taking the pill after reaching your goal? And do you start gaining your weight back when you quit taking it? Linda AskDocWeb: The most frequent mistake made with weight loss pills is not making changes to your diet and lifestyle. You have to continue with your diet and exercises to keep the weight off, or you will gain your weight back. Subj: Thanks Date: 3/21/2007 Thanks so very much for taking your time to create this very useful and informative site. I have learned a lot from your site. Thanks! Katie Subj: Lost 10 pounds Date: 3/22/2007 I have been taking adipex and from one Thursday to the next I lost 10 pounds. It helps me to be conscience of what I eat. I drink a lot of water. And I am going to start walking because the weather is breaking. The only problem I have is sometimes I can't sleep, but that is a small price to pay. The goal is to come off of the adipex and keep control of my eating habits. I am a stress eater and since this world of full of stress I will always have to be conscience of the fact and try and keep control of my eating habits. Mrs. Subj: Why can't I lose? Date: 3/27/2007 I have been on adipex for 3 months and I work out at the gym four days a week. I eat sensible no fried foods but bake fish and veggies, why can't I lose? Cynthia AskDocWeb: If Adipex hasn't worked in three months then it is time you talked to your doctor about an alternative. Subj: What happens if Date: 3/28/2007 I am not overweight however I would desperately like to shred some pounds. What happens if I use appetite suppressant( like adipex or ionamin) for a short time? Tugce AskDocWeb: If your BMI is under 30 then you have an increased chance of experiencing some pretty nasty side effects. Read more Adipex Feedback.
