Subj: Headaches
Date: 8/13/2008
The first time I took Adipex I lost 30lbs but I was also on Topamax for Migraine therapy. I lost the weight in just three months I had to force myself to eat. If I remember correctly the first initial two weeks I had moderate to severe headaches but they did subside. I am taking them again as my appetite began to get out of control and I had gained the weight back in 7 months and now I am suffering with headaches again. I am on 400mg of vitamin B-2 for migraine therapy as traditional meds or painkillers just don't seem to work but I guess I want to loose the weight so bad that I am willing to suffer through. I wish there was a maintenance program - a wheining of period so we would not regain the weight.
Kelly

Subj: Very addictive
Date: 8/17/2008
I have been taking adipex going on 10mts now. I love it, and it is very addictive. I have not experienced any side effects. I would just like to know will this hurt me later on in the future, or am I just immune to it.
Holly

AskDocWeb: When used as directed Adipex is an appetite suppressant used for the short-term management of obesity. The long-term use of Adipex is not recommended and the affects of long-term use are unknown. Remember that you also have to diet and exercise.

AskDocWeb: If you are pregnant birth defects are not likely but you should talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of using Adipex while pregnant.

Subj: Quadriplegic with a growing stomach
Date: 8/18/2008
I'm a quadriplegic and I have a growing stomach, but the rest of my body is not over weight. I eat less than 1000 calaries a day already. Will adipex help?
Jerriod

AskDocWeb: It is possible but only your doctor can say for sure if it would be safe for you or not.

Subj: Running a fever
Date: 8/21/2008
I just started Adipex and have been on it for 3 days. I've had a slight headache and keep reading this is common as your body adjusts. Well, today I've been experiencing body temp change and now I am running a fever of 100 degrees. Could this be an effect of the medication?
Danielle

AskDocWeb: No, and it is not listed as a side effect.

Subj: Jittery and anxious
Date: 8/22/2008
I started taking Adipex last Saturday (so 6 days ago) so far I've lost 6 lbs! Not bad, but honestly, I could've "starved" myself without this pill! The first day I took it I felt completely jittery and anxious for the first few hours and then it all died down and I felt tired. Day 2-6 the jittery, anxious feeling has been less and less! Also, I still feel hungry, so it doesn't suppress my appetite at all, I'm just not eating much, because I won't allow myself to. Maybe it just doesn't work well with me, personally. I know people who it really works for and they love it and swear by it!

Subj: Adipex with prozac?
Date: 8/22/2008
I am currently taking Generic prozac 20 mg 1x day, my Dr. just gave me a script for Adipex...she said taking the real thing instead of generic would have fewer side affects...Is it safe to take both...I feel a little uneasy...
Mattie

AskDocWeb: We didn't find any interactions between the two drugs but our interaction checker may not include every interaction that is known. As long as your doctor knows about the prozac then it should be safe for you.

Subj: We can all motivate each other
Date: 8/30/2008
I have been on and off Adipex for years. The first six weeks or so of using it was great. My roommate and I were exercising, eating good, loosing weight and had tons of energy. Lets just say we had a clean house! But, now I know it is time to give it up completly. I have all of the negative side effects like being dizzy, bitchy, to hot then to cold, in a daze, smoking, scattered brain, forgetfulness, headaches and worst of all I still wake up in the morning and it's one of the first things on my mind. I am not against adipex but if you choose to use it only use it for a short period of time. It's really scary to think how lazy we are all becoming. We have a health problem and we turn to medication to fix it, when the majority of the time we can fix it ourselves. Today or tomorrow, since I already took my adipex, I am choosing to get off not only this but all medications and start taking care of myself and respecting my body. I know this will get difficult because I work in a Dr.'s office where I get tons of samples of addipex. I also get headaches and grind my jaws so much, I find myself popping Ibuprofen everyday. Which takes a toll on our bodies as well. If someone reads this and wants to do the same thing, maybe we can all motivate each other to look and feel our best with out the help of putting sh*t in our bodies. Good luck,
Shawnie

AskDocWeb: If you follow the directions and make changes to your lifestyle, which includes more activity, then you should see results.

Subj: Adipex with xanax?
Date: 9/4/2008
Started Adipex July 2008 and lost 12 pounds the first month. Took it again the month of August and dropped another 10 pounds. I got my new prescription on the August 29 to start over Labor Day weekend. However, my appetite has returned and it's almost out of control! My cravings have returned and it's almost like a "munchie" craving one would get after using street drugs. I've noticed my weight going back up since last Friday when I weighed in with my doctor...223...225...228 today! I want the loss of appetite to come back! I feel my body has become tolerant of the meds and it is throwing me into a major depression. I find myself sitting and starring blankly at the walls, and the irritability is off the hook! My husband says I've been a total "B" these last 2 months and my class of 20 -8 year olds must think I am the evil witch teacher! I am quick to snap at them for the littlest of things. I have a presciption of xanax from last school year that my doctor gave me for job related stress and to relax me to go to sleep faster and to stop my brain from thinking on overdrive as I try to settle in to go to sleep. My ultimate question is Can I take my xanax while I am on adipex...to help me go to sleep or when I get upset at school or my anger or attitude gets stressed with the kids?? I have not taken xanax with adipex since I started the adipex. I know some drugs don't mix and I'm not one to fool around with mixing meds that could cause me my life. Is xanax and adipex a bad combination or would it be ok to use xanax as needed while still on the adipex? Should I come off the adipex and return to it later to get back the loss of appetite that truly has helped me lose 22 pounds??? Do doctors recommend cycling adipex? What other drug could be used to replace adipex? Thanks, and yes, this drug has made me SUPER chatty! And I can't make decisions at all...I don't even know when to shut up! LAUGH...thanks! Will check back soon for a reply.
T.C.W

AskDocWeb: You are so right, some drugs don't mix but these two seem to get along okay. There are no drug interactions listed between Adipex and Xanax.

Subj: Light headedness
Date: 9/6/2008
I've taking adipex for 2 weeks. I've lost 6.5lbs. but the only bad thing about it I don't like is that I feel light headed, but I went to the doctor and he told me what was causing it. I wanna stop so me being light head can stop, how long does it take to get out ur system?
Ashley

AskDocWeb: It may take up to 2 weeks to get the Adipex completely out of your system but the light headedness should go away in just a few days.

Subj: Effectiveness of birth control?
Date: 9/9/2008
Hi, I just began taking Adipex but I wanted to know if it alters the effectiveness of birth control pills I am taking. I just want to be safe! Thanks.
Crystal

AskDocWeb: Adipex will not alter the effectiveness of birth control pills.

Subj: Any suggestions
Date: 9/9/2008
A year and a half ago I was taking Adipex 37 mg and I loved it! I lost almost 30 pounds in four months. Then I went off it for about 6 months and gained all the weight back. I have been trying to take it again and it basically has no effect on me, I have tried so many different types of meds, but they just don't work anymore. Am I immune to the stuff now or what? Any suggestions what I can try now?
Jessica

AskDocWeb: Many of these weight loss drugs lose their effectiveness over time. It takes more effort but calorie reduction and an increase in exercise have proven successful for many people.

Subj: What is the pill aiding?
Date: 9/11/2008
I am a mom of a 15 month old and have 50 lbs to lose that hasn't budged since the pregnancy. My BMI is at 28. I was prescribed adipex by my DR after complaining that being a strict vegetarian and eating 1400-1600 calories a day and exercising every day for sometimes an hour [jogging/walking briskly, besides remodeling homes which I do for a living] I have lost only 10 lbs the past year and a half. I have no thyroid issues. If everyone losing weight is changing eating habits and exercising more it makes sense that they are losing weight of course. My question is what exactly is the pill doing besides suppressing appetite? I mean I can't remember the last time I had any junk food or ice cream. My DR is exploring the avenues of why the weight isn't coming off but in the mean time prescribed adipex for me for two months. If I am living healthy with food and exercise what is the pill aiding minus the suppressive affect? Is it helping my metabolism.. is it burning fat? Is it literally just going to make me want to eat less? I am beginning to doubt it will help me at all in that case. I have read all of these reviews and still am very curious. Your feedback would be amazing! Thank you.
Jay

AskDocWeb: Adipex does reduce your appetite but it also increases your over-all metabolism by stimulating your hypothalamus gland. This increases your energy level allowing you to burn calories more efficiently.

Subj: Cry all the time
Date: 9/14/2008
I have stopped taking adipex. I was cutting the pill into. This was the second time I was taking it, but this time it drove me crazy? I was paronoid, having suicide thoughts, just almost thinking I was having a mental breakdown. I wasn't even on them for a month. When will these get out of my system. I've been off of them for 4 days. Please help me. It seems I cry all the time, but getting better.
Angie

AskDocWeb: It may take up to 2 weeks to get the Adipex completely out of your system.

Subj: Taking Adipex and still hungry
Date: 9/15/2008
I have only been taking Adipex for 3 days now, but does it take a few days to really get into your system before it REALLY starts working? Sometimes I dont even want to think about food but then sometimes I feel a little hungry? I have had no symptoms other than extremely dry mouth.
Mla38

AskDocWeb: Adipex does not get rid of all your appetite, is just reduces it. If you think it is not working enough then talk to your doctor about either adjusting your dosage or finding an alternative.
