Subj: Lack of progress
Date: 8/15/2009
I have been taking adipex for about 6 months now. I have really only been eating 1 meal per day. So far I have lost 40 pounds from 301.5. I had more weightloss while I was taking this without much exercising. For about the past month I have stayed at 260 lbs. So about a week or 2 ago I began walking 3 to 4 miles everyday. I still weigh 260. Since I began all of this in February, I have had no change of waist size, shirt size or anything. What is going on? :( I'm getting really discouraged and am to a point of giving up.
Cody

AskDocWeb: When your progress levels off like that, it is time to check back with your doctor. Remember that there are three parts to this treatment, changes in diet (what and how much you eat) are also required.

Subj: Adipex not working for me
Date: 8/19/2009
I have been on Adipex for almost two months now. I lost only 6 pounds in the first month and this month, so far...not really anything. I am very frustrated because I have not been eating that much at all, and am wondering why it's not working for me? The last two nights I have been up all night. Would it be the adipex? Thought that it wouldn't be since I have been taking it for this long...please help. I am going to call my doctor and see what's going on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Danielle

AskDocWeb: Difficulty sleeping is listed as one of the possible side effects of Adipex. Of course no diet pill will work for everyone.

Subj: Dry lips
Date: 8/20/2009
I have been taken adipex for about 1.1/2mo. and I lost over 10lbs since I start, my cus. Was taken the same med and she lost some weight over a year so she told me in beganing that I have to exercise and follow a good food diet and drink alot of water. Since I started I take the pill in early morning and go to the gym and walk 4 30min. and bike 4 10min. and then streach for 15min. I maybe miss 4-7 days out of the month with out going to the gym and I think am losing it slow but I am happy with the result. I have alot of confidence in my self. The only thing its bothering me is my dry lips and am not much of water person in any season I push my self to do so as soon as I remember that I need to drink some. That's it so far. Thx
Kay

Subj: Headaches, mood swings, rapid heartbeat, and dry mouth
Date: 8/29/2009
Just started taking this. I guess it's been 5 days. I feel horrible. Stomach Pain, Minor headaches, big time mood swings, rapid heartbeat, and very dry mouth. I just don't feel like myself at all. I just got a part in a play, that I was so excited about. Now I kinda just feel numb about everything. Does anyone know if these side effects go away? If it is going to continue to be this way, I think I need to stop taking this. But I really want to lose the what. If someone could let me know that it gets better, I'd keep trying. Please share,
Tammy

Subj: Blurred vision and wooziness
Date: 9/2/2009
I have been on adipex 37.5 for 5 days and I've lost 7 lbs already. I havent noticed any mood changes, but my cheeks have been getting hot and red. I have no appetite during the day. I take my pill at 5am and I get hungry in the evening. I have exercised willpower to keep from eating late in the afternoon, which is good as I will have to use willpower when I quit taking the med. Taking the pill this early helps me get to sleep at night. My start weight was 217 I'm 5ft even. Worst thing I noticed so far was blurred vision and wooziness after drinking coffee. I love this med.

Subj: Headache, dizziness, and pain in knees
Date: 9/3/2009
I just started on adipex today and after 10 minutes of taking it I felt a headache, dizinnes, and pain in my knees. Is this normal for the first day.
Dalia

AskDocWeb: No, the effects listed as possible during the first few days of use are irritability, stomach upset or constipation. These typically disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. The three symptoms you mention are not listed as side effects and should be reported to your doctor.

Subj: Birth control?
Date: 9/6/2009
I just started adipex yesterday. I took a whole pill and became very sleepy 30 min after... But it did help my appetite. I also had very little sleep and sweat a lot duringy sleep. The only good thing is I'm not tired right now. This morning I took half of a pill along with a b12 vitamin ( I don't feel any energy now though) and it seem to work better than the whole. My appetite is still suppressed, which is good. My only concern is will his interfere with my birth control?
Kie

AskDocWeb: Adipex has no affect on the effectiveness of birth control pills.

Subj: Generic phentermine
Date: 9/11/2009
My doctor prescribed me adipex and I got the generic, phentermine. It is not working. Why am I still hungry? I have taken this before, years ago and it worked. I do work out a lot, would that have something to do with it?
Paige

AskDocWeb: Phentermine is intended to be used with lifestyle changes that include diet and exercise so that is not the problem. It is possible that your dosage may need to be adjusted so talk to your doctor. Another possibility is that the pills were purchased online and you were sent a non-working fake. Unfortunately that does sometimes happen.

Subj: Issues with spotting
Date: 9/12/2009
I just started using Adipex one week ago. I feel more energized and don't sleep in much anymore. I too have had issues now with spotting and it is not yet time for my period. I am stress with work right now and I am on birth control, so those I am sure play a part in the spotting but I plan on double checking with my Dr. I've lost about 2 LBs and I exercise almost everyday so I am hoping I get more results but I am riding this out. Good luck to all of you! Make sure you are under a Dr care when you take this! It's supposed to be a "jump start" in a whole life style change! God Bless,
Sarah

AskDocWeb: Although changes in menstruation are not listed among the possible side effects of Adipex there are several reports of that.

Subj: Panic attack
Date: 9/14/2009
I just starting taking Adipex today actually and about a half hour after taking it I experienced a bit of a panic attack. Nothing serious just a mild one. I think I was too nervous about hearing all the bad side effects. Anyway, after about 45 minutes I because unusually calm for about an hour and now I am experiencing slight shortness of breath. Once again nothing bad, but I am concerned that it might get worse. I am afraid to continue onto tomorrow. Will the symptoms reduce as I keep taking it? Once again, nothing serious only very mild, but I am a little concerned. Any ideas?
Gaby

AskDocWeb: The side effects that that may go away during treatment include restlessness, nervousness, difficulty sleeping, and dry mouth. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor.

Subj: Bleeding again
Date: 9/15/2009
Been on adipex for 6 weeks. Lost around 20 lbs. Definately have dry mouth, sleepiness at times and feel "hot" a lot. Not that bad that I want to stop them, however I was a week early on my period last month and didn't think anything of it. But now two weeks later I am bleeding again. Kinda concerned about this since I am always regular... Anyone else experience this?
Stacie

Subj: Losing weight
Date: 9/22/2009
I started Adipex about a week and a half ago. I have other friends who are on it and have lost double the weight I have. I am 5'2" and was 105lbs before children, after having 2 I am now 148 (was 152 before adipex). My friends weight about 50 lbs more than me but they only diet, I diet and lift weights and do cardio 4-6 times a week, high intensity for 35-45 minutes, yet they are still loosing more weight than me....Is this because they weight more than I do? How long should it take to loose 40 lbs total?
Lindsay

AskDocWeb: In general, the more overweight a person is to start with the faster they lose weight in the beginning. Your friends may be losing more weight than you right now but will they be able to keep it off? Remember, you get more benefit from keeping your attention on your goal than you do someone else's progress. If you lose 5 pounds a week then it may take a couple of months to reach your goal weight but you are less likely to gain it back.

Subj: Hair thinning
Date: 9/25/2009
I've been taking adipex on and off for about 3year started out weighing 180lbs now 138lbs and I've notice here lately hair thining and I know for sure it cause this, because I've been to the doctor for hormone test and everything came back normal. Also it definitely cause insominia because I don't get 8 hrs of sleep I now have made a appointment with dermotglist for my hair and not taking adipex any more this is a short term weight loss product. I notice the longer I take it I recogized more side effects aging, hairloss, restless nights sleeping, dry skin, but it helps you to loss the weight.

Date: 9/26/2009

Subj: Body cleanser
Date: 9/29/2009
I started adipex 4 days ago, while on a body cleanser, and the dr. said it was fine, yet I have not seen any results on the scale yet. Does anyone know if it is possible that the cleanser may be causing my weight to not come off?
Crystal

Subj: Losing my hair
Date: 10/6/2009
I have been taking Adipex for three weeks now I have lost over 20 lbs but like a few others I have noticed that from day 2 of taking it I am losing my hair that is the only problem I have had with it. I feel this needs to be looked into as a possible side affect and will the hair grow back most of it is coming out at the roots
Nancy

AskDocWeb: In most cases, hair loss that is caused by a drug reverses once the drug is discontinued.

Subj: Up at 3:00AM
Date: 10/8/2009
I started taking the pill yesterday. My dr. told me to take 1/2 in the morn and 1/2 in the evening. I took 1/2 about 2:30pm after my appt. and did not like the way it makes me feel. I was up at 3:00AM this morn and couldn't go back to sleep. So this morn I ate a piece of toast and took 1/2 and I think that will be plenty for me the rest of the day. Still feeling kinda grouchy, dont wanna talk to anybody. I have a low tolerance for any kind of narcotic meds and this beats all. But I'm gonna press on cause I wanna lose the weight. I'm 5'2" and 185 lbs.

Subj: Adipex not working
Date: 10/10/2009
I have been on the generic for adipex for 4 days now and I feel nothing, I have none of the side effects or increased energy or decreased appitite, everything I was hoping for, I am a big guy 6'2'' and 320lbs should I ask my dr about increasing my dose of 1 pill a day up? or will it not do any good? I really want this to work and am desperate to lose weight. If adipex does not work are there any other strong medications out there?
Westley

AskDocWeb: If there is no affect after one week we would check back with the doctor. And yes, there are other alternatives if it turns out that Adipex doesn't work for you.
