Subj: Topamax and Adipex
Hi there! I am taking Topamax for migraines on a daily preventative basis. I know that it is also used for helping with seizures and can depress the central nervous system. Well I just started taking Adipex that I bought online and I see that it stimulates the central nervous system. I take 100 mg of Topamax a day usually right before I go to bed. I take 1 pill of the Adipex in the am. Will this be okay? Thanks
AskDocWeb: No, it is not okay. Please, tell your doctor about everything you are taking so that he or she can make an informed decision about your health care.
Subj: Heart Palpitations
I have been on Adipex for 1 month, so far I've lost 14 pounds; I have experienced major heart palpitations. Is this a side effect?
AskDocWeb Yes, it is and it is reason enough to stop using the Adipex. Please see your health care provider.
Subj: No menestrual cycle
Does adipex affect your menestrual cycle? I have been on adipex for about a month and a half and now my period has not come on. I have taken pregnancy test and the results show up negative.
AskDocWeb Adipex is known to have several possible affects on the menstrual cycle. It may cause a late period, an early period, or even a missed one. However, check with your doctor if it happens again.
Subj: Weight gain
I want to know why you gain weight after taking Adepex P or Phentermine at 37.5 mg after years of use. Please advise as to what I need to do. I am heavier than I have ever been. Please help.
AskDocWeb If you have taken it for years, it's possible that it just isn't working anymore. Take a good look at what you're doing in the way of exercise and eating habits. Keep a daily log of what you eat, how long you exercise and what type of exercise, then take it to your doctor and discuss this problem. It might help to have your TSH tested. That is your Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. It is necessary to maintain a certain level for good health. If it is too low or too high, your doctor will give you a thyroid medication such as Synthroid to regulate this level. One of the causes of obesity is a malfunctioning thyroid.
Subj: Most annoying side effect of Adipex
I have been taking this pill for 3 weeks. It has greatly controlled my appetite and I have lost 11 pounds. I don't constantly think about food anymore like I used to. The most annoying side effects are constipation and irritability for me.
Subj: Exercise with Adipex
I have been on Adipex for one month now. I have lost 20 pounds. I am not saying I just sat around and did nothing. I worked out everyday only for 30 mins. Cardio is the best thing to do to really get the inches off. Lifting weights sculpts the arms and legs and really helps your metabolism. Yeah you can lose weight if you don't work out with the Adipex, but you won't lose as much and as frequently. I am 18, 5'4 and was 160 when I started taking the medicine. I was overweight for my height and age. Now I weight about 135. I only need to lose 10 more pounds until I reach my ideal weight, which is 125 my doctor said. Just remember, exercising and eating healthy food works wonders! Good Luck
Subj: Ready to go the distances
Hello, I've read all of your stories, and I can say I'm motivated to go the distance, so that I may one day tell mine. I'm currently 5'0, 210 lbs. I know this is extremely too much weight to carry, but really I don't look 210. This could be, due to my 10 Army career. When I decided to hang up my boots, I lost my running sneakers with them. I usually weighed in at 130-140 which was a good weight for me, because I was all muscles. Since 1996, I have gone from 145 lbs to 210 lbs., and I can honestly say I can feel it now. It's difficult for me to tie my shoes, and also to button up my pants. I've climb from a 14 to 18 in pants over the past 2 years, and enough is enough. I am too short to shop at some of the larger stores, and if they have 16 or 18 petite, they won't have the right color. Anyhow, I decided to use Zantrex-3. This product worked at first when I started it last year, but I only took it for 3 months, and quit. I noticed that over the past 6 months the weight I lost, I managed to gain it back. So today I decided to go to my doctor for help. She asked me what took me so long to ask for help. Looking over my past weigh in history, she suggested that I start with (Adipex-p). Today is my first day, and I'm proud to announce that I did feel the energy surge within the first 2 hours. As for my appetite, it seemed to have been suppressed. I managed to become a little hungry, and that could have been due to me cooking dinner. I decided to eat a slim fast muffin bar, these are great for snacks (only 1). This was what I needed to get me through until dinner. I will revisit this website, to inform others on my (Adipex-p) success, in which I'm anticipating a good one. For now good luck to all.
Subj: First day on Adipex
Today is the first day! I love it!! I have not wanted to eat. But I did make myself have a light breakfast and a snack for lunch. Wish me luck!!!
AskDocWeb: Even if you don't feel like eating, make sure you eat light meals that are healthy for you. You're on the way to a success story!
Subj: 280 pounds and depressed
I weight 280 now b4 I got pregnant I was 150. It's been 2 years now I am very depressed. Do you or anyone think(s) I should try adipex?
AskDocWeb: After 2 years, it does sound like you could use some help. We would start with a complete physical to let you know if you have any medical problems that may be causing the extra weight. Adipex is only one possible solution but it is just for short term use. With that much extra weight to lose, you should have a physician monitor your progress.
While on Adipex, I did lose weight. However, I experienced excessive sweating, loss of blood/oxygen to the brain, and fainting symptoms and have actually fainted. After being hospitalized twice, the only remedy that seems to work is drinking gatorade. The doctors don't seem to have any diagnosis. Before taking Adipex, I never experienced these symptoms. I would cut the pill in half as prescribed by my doctor. Has anyone had these same problems? I wonder if the cutting of the pill has any correlation?
AskDocWeb: The score line across the pill is an indication that it is meant to be cut in half if necessary. Increasing your fluid intake is a good idea with the use of any weight loss product.
Subj: Difference between the Didrex and Adipex
What is the difference between the Didrex and Adipex? What effects are different besides an appetite supressent? What should I expect?
AskDocWeb: Didrex comes in 50 mg tablets and adipex comes in 37.5 mgs. Psychological disturbances have been reported when Didrex is used with restrictive dietary regimen. Adipex enters the bloodstream more quickly.
Remember that both Adipex and Didrex are stimulants and are habit-forming. You can become physically or psychologically dependent on either medication.
Subj: Pain in rectum with bleeding
I have been taking adipex for 3 months now. First all the results are great. I was 5'5 237 when I started them. Now I'm 195. I am grateful for this. However I have noticed crazy side effects my mouth is always dry, which I can handle because it gives me motive to drink lots of water. But the other thing is I am having pains in my rectum and some bleeding also. I don't know if this is due to a hardcore vegetable and white meat diet that's hard for my digestive system to break down or possibly some other illness. I have lots of pride so I haven't said anything to my doctor. But maybe I'm hoping to get some kind of response here. Thank you...
AskDocWeb: Dry mouth is a side effect. You could have a fissure in your rectum from the stools you are having or inflammation in the colon. This is something you had better have checked. You may have internal hemorrhoids, which could also be a cause.
Subj: Adipex, Medifast and Tenuate
I am taking adipex, I have been on it 1 week and have lost 12 lbs. I'm taking medifast shakes with it. I find myself extremely hungry with these. Tenuate has worked much better.
Subj: We'll see
I have been taking this medication for about 2 weeks and although the scale hasn't drastically changed, my clothes are looser and I feel like my stomach and thighs are smaller. I do experience spurts of high energy and then no energy at all and a bit of irritability but nothing serious. We'll see how it works out in the long haul.
Subj: Long term use of Adipex
I was just wondering, I have taken adipex for about 10 years off and on and I was wanting to see what kind of damage has been reported about taking it for so long and how do I get off it.
AskDocWeb: We haven't seen any long term studies available. Since Adipex acts like an amphetamine, it would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about the best way for you to quit.
Subj: Bad chest pains
I had bad chest pains (seemed like it was my heart). Is that a side effect of this medicine (Adipex (I am taking Phentermine 37.5 mg)?
AskDocWeb: Yes, it can and that is reason enough to call your doctor. It can also cause pulmonary hypertension and rapid heart rate.
Subj: Huge side effects with Adipex
I have been taking the drug (Adipex) for 4 months now and I have had huge side effects. I have been unable to get an erection. It is limper then a wet noodle. I have recently developed kidney stones.
AskDocWeb: You should have reported these side effects immediately to your physician instead of waiting for four months.
