What's the secret to the soft drinks?
I got put on adipex a week ago and have some of the side effects listed above but my question is I dont feel confident that this will help me lose weight. I am 5'3" and 201 lbs so I know I drastically need to lose it. I am extremely addicted to soft drinks and have cut down my eating habits a lot but I'm still hungry but what's the secret to the soft drinks?
AskDocWeb: Many people who drink soft drinks realize that it's healthier to quit drinking soft drinks altogether, but that can be tough to do. There are two factors that make giving up soft drinks difficult. The first is that you are trying to break a habit, which in itself takes a lot of conscious effort. The other factor is the chemical dependence on the soft drink. Giving up the caffeine and sugar can result in withdrawal symptoms that include headache, depression and general malaise. Fortunately the worst of the withdrawals are over in a few days. Drinking lots of water helps.
If it is REALLY HARD to let go of the soft drink then consider weaning of slowly. Some people find that keeping a drink diary or journal for a few days helps them determine "weak" moments. Note the time and what types of soda are being consumed and how many. The idea is to gradually substitute healthy drinks for the sodas over time.
Excessive hair loss
I have taken adepex for 2.5 months and have lost 32 pounds so far. I work out 5 to 6 days a week. 30tu 45 minutes of cardio and 15 to 20 minutes of floor exercises. Gained muscle weight along with weight loss. I take multivitamin everyday and drink a cup of Yarba mate tea a few days a week. I eat 5 small meals a day and drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. I eat protien at each meal and a fruit or veggie. I have been losing hair slowly and in the last month excessively. I went to the dr. last week and had my throid tested but it came back normal.
I'm considering the stopping adepex. What are your thoughts? Will I still gain weight after I stop if I continue my current lifestyle changes? Happy with results but disappointed too. I was going to continue for 6 more weeks then stop taking it. Just want to get through summer months with it because swimming increases my appetite. Thanks!
AskDocWeb: Hair loss is not listed as one of the possible side effects of Adipex however, the stress of dieting may be a contributing factor. It sounds like you are getting plenty of exercise and water. It's a sad fact that most people don't make enough lifestyle changes to keep the weight off but it sounds like you have a good chance of doing that. One area that you might enjoy exploring is adding herbs that encourage weight loss.
Difference in the generic and name brand pill
Been using the generic adipex for a few weeks & the first week I lost about 5 lbs which was what I knew was water weight so I waited to see if the weight continued to disappear but sure enough I stopped losing weight completely & have stayed at the same weight for about a week. I talked with my mom about it & she informed me that when she was a member at the diet center all of the people there noticed a huge difference in the generic & name brand pill. She said the actual pill does work a lot better for people. The generic I have been taking I cannot stand the way it makes me feel. I feel nauseated & tired all of the time. I will most likely stop taking it soon.
I am 5'3", 150 pounds, 36 years old. My doctor prescribed Adipex, 37.5 mg, to help jumpstart my weight loss. I have been taking it for six days and have absolutely NO energy. I feel kind of cloudy, am getting headaches, and my body feels a bit tingly. Could the dose be too high or my body needs time to get used to the medication? I am very healthy and am not taking any other meds. I guess I'll talk to my doctor if it continues.
AskDocWeb: The body typically takes less than 7 to 10 days to adjust to this medication but it doesn't sound like it is having the desired effect. Call your doctor at once if you have any of the following serious side effects:
My mom suggested that I get Adipex(Phentermine) to help with my weight since she's been taking it for 6 months and has lost weight. I've been taking it little over a month. With summer here, I drink 2 64oz bottles of water a day to keep cool and from being dehydrated. Lately I've noticed that my urine has been darkening after I use the bathroom. Is this a side effect that's possibly unknown to the test labs or is this a different problem? Please help. Thank you.
AskDocWeb: Since the causes of dark urine range from quite harmless to life-threatening it is best to check with your doctor, especially if it is unexplained, continues for more than a day or two or happens repeatedly. Normal urine color can range from a pale yellow to deep amber.
Heartburn, sweating and can't sleep
I just started taking adipex this week I am on my 2nd day and I've had heartburn both days also sweating like crazy and not to mention can't sleep at all I seen them gum part for the heartburn but how can I sleep at night I take the pill at 6:30 a.m. and it is 4:30 a.m. now and I haven't went to bed yet can I take melitonine with adipex will it help me sleep?
AskDocWeb: Our database does not list any drug interactions between Melatonin and Adipex, however, this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. ALWAYS consult with your doctor or pharmacist before using herbs while taking prescription drugs.
Melitonine is manufactured by your body to help you sleep. This plus the addition of St.Johns Wort, Valarian Root, and Hops can all be purchased over the counter to relax and induce sleep. Sleepy Time tea and primrose are also helpful for many.
