About AdipexIf you have used Adipex, please help others by adding your feedback. What would you tell your best friend about using Adipex? Please remember that we do not give medical advice. That is for your local health care provider, who is familiar with your medical history.
I know its probably not a good idea, but can you drink a small amount of red bull while taking adipex?
AskDocWeb: You are right, that is not a good idea. Adipex stimulates the central nervous system and elevates of blood pressure. Patients are often advised to avoid taking other stimulants that may increase heart rate or blood pressure such as decongestants, caffeine, and energy drinks.
My body is screaming
So I started off taking 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night for the first two days...3 hours of sleep that Thursday. It is now Sunday and I am up to a whole pill once a day in the morning....I have not slept since then and my physician is not in until Monday!!! I have seen where people are only taking 1/2 and its enough. I was 205.8 on Thursday and I am now at 202.1 on the proceeding Sunday. I am tired, very tired; however my body is screaming lets go we don't have time for sleep!!!
How soon should I stop taking adipex before surgery?
AskDocWeb: Some surgeons recommend staying off adipex for at least 14 days prior to surgery but the anesthesiologist is the one that has the final say.
I was wondering if i should ask my doctor for adipex because its worked well for my freind. Im 19 years old, 5'8 and 230, i hold my weight well but ive been struggling to lost it for 6 years i havent been lower then 200, ive tried everything and im lost, i think this may be the only direction to go, do you agree?
AskDocWeb: So you have tried everything, does that include the Gabriel method of weight control? Asking your doctor for a specific drug often raises a red flag in the doctor's mind: "Is this patient abusing drugs?" You may get a better response by asking which medication would work best to help you attain your desired weight. If you don't know how much you should weigh then you might play with one of our BMI calculators. There's one for average people and another for athletic people.
I need to lose 30 lbs ASAP
I've been takin adipez for a week as of today... The side affects dont really bother me... I've lost 8lbs... With a low calorie diet... Im not to please due to when I was on a low card diet I lost 14 lbs my first week.. My question should I go back to a low carb diet? I need to lose 30 lbs asap.
AskDocWeb: Since you are taking a prescription diet drug, questions about whether you should change your diet or not need to be addressed to your doctor. Are you working with a nutritionist? That might help.
Can i take adipex along with the vitamin biotin?
AskDocWeb: Our database currently has no interactions listed for biotin, also known as vitamin B7, and there are no reports of any problems from the many people who use biotin with Adipex to speed up their weight loss.
Leg and knee pain
I have been using Adipex for weight loss and Fibro for one yr now. 2 weeks ago, i began to have leg and knee pain. No swelling and no injury. I get relieve after night time... only pain is walking. Worried about vein probls with long term use of meds.... but sure would miss the help Adipex brings...No history of heart probls. or HP... Age 58.
AskDocWeb: Although you don't have any swelling, recurring leg pain is one of the symptoms of deep vein thrombosis. Of course there are other causes of leg pain but for safety sake please talk with your doctor the risks of long term use of Adipex.
7 weeks pregnant
I been taking adipex and i didnt know i was pregnant i just find out i am 7 weeks pregnant.
AskDocWeb: Hopefully your next step is to discuss this with your doctor. At this time, it is not known how adipex affects pregnancy but at least there are no overwhelming claims of problems. We have read many reports of women taking them for up to 2 months before they found out about their pregnancy and they were fine. Of course they discontinued using Adipex when they found out they were pregnant. Congrats and Good Luck!
Two months of Adipex
Lots of energy at first, with very little appetite. I have noticed that most people arent talking about the constipation side effect. I have had to take massive amounts of fiber as well as lots of water...or u just dont "go". After about six weeks on the med, I became worn down and stopped the exersizing program almost overnight. Must have been lack of nutrients, although I was eating right as well as taking supplements.
Month 2, I took the brand name rather than the generic. It caused extreme irritabilty and constant, non-stop yawning with anxiety. I had to take a break due to the extreme anxiety. Have been off med 3 weeks and the anxiety is decreasing. I lost 23 pounds and plan to resume the medication and proper eating and exersize, even though there side effects. Other side effects included sleeplessness, feeling like I have a UTI, and hot flashes. These all went away when discontinuing the medication.
Concern about side effects
I have some leftover adipex and use it sparingly when I can't seem to control my appetite. I also find it helps me focus and makes me happier. I am only using 1/2 a pill. I guess my concern is that the side effects I am having don't match other people. Do I need to worry?
AskDocWeb: That depends on what side effects you have. Without knowing what side effects you are talking about there is no way to give you a specific answer. If you don't want to share them here then ask your doctor about them.
I have taken adipex twice in my life and recently I had my gallbladder removed. The pills are not making me feel the same this time I am on them. It is not giving me anymore energy or making me any less hungry. I feel like I wasted my time and money can someone please tell me if my surgery has something to do with this sudden change.
AskDocWeb: Gallbladder surgery has not been reported to affect the effectiveness of Adipex. What commonly occurs is that over time the body builds up a tolerance for this drug and it loses effectiveness. That is one of the reasons why it is prescribed for short-term use.
Gallbladder problems are one of the health issues commonly seen in those who are overweight, particularly in women. The two main causes seem to be low calorie diets and diets that are too high in fat. Low calorie diets cause the liver to secrete more cholesterol into the gallbladder upsetting the normal balance, which can form gallstones.
I have been taking adipex for 6 weeks now and I have lost 20 lbs, although it has helped to decrease my appetite, I am concerned with the tension headaches that I have started getting in the last week, one everyday during my exercise regiment, however I have been exercising everyday but in the last week really increased my exercising and had a tension headache everyday, love adipex but the headaches have to go. . . .
AskDocWeb: You may find it helpful to add more stretching and "cool down" to your exercise program. Also yoga and Pilates are both excellent at correcting posture and releasing tension.
