About AvacorWe searched the United States Food and Drug Administration, Physician's Desk Reference, Universities around the world and hundreds of Internet sites to give you layman's reports in plain English. We believe you should be fully informed before taking any drug. That includes the side effects that others don't talk about. What is Avacor? The Avacor® brand name is now owned by an investment group called Avacor Products LLC. On January 1, 2009, they purchased the assets of Global Vision Products, Inc. Since the acquisition, Avacor Products LLC has been working to rebuild the reputation of the Avacor product name. Let's take a look at the new Avacor.Avacor is now a line of hair care products intended to clean, condition, and re-grow hair. The new product line consists of 2 Avacor Physicians Formulation® (one for men and one for women), a supplement called Nutricap, 2 shampoos, a hair thickener, and a styling gel. These products are bundled into several different "supply packages" for 3, 6, and 12 months but let's look at the individual products. Avacor's Physicians Formulation®The 2 Avacor Physicians Formulations are topical products that contain Minoxidil, the only FDA approved topical ingredient proven to re-grow hair. The formulation for men contains 5% Minoxidil and the women's formula contains 2% Minoxidil. Both formulas come with a few warnings:
This product may not work for you if your degree of hair loss is different than that shown on the side of their carton. Some people have experienced changes in hair color and/or texture while using this product. According to the Avacor website, you may need to use this product 2 times a day for at least 4 months before you see results. In clinical studies of mostly white women aged 18-45 years with mild to moderate degrees of hair loss, two applications daily of 2% minoxidil topical solution produced the following results. 19% of women reported moderate hair regrowth after 8 months of use. 40% had minimal regrowth of hair. Avacor® All Natural NutricapThe All Natural Nutricap is a supplement intended to foster and maintain healthy hair follicles. They do note that "These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease."
