Beclomethasone
Date: 2/10/2012
Can beclomethasone cause false positive results for blood and hair alcohol tests? been on it for 30 years, did not know it contained ethonol, also on ventolin for same amount of time.
Faye

AskDocWeb: We have no record of beclomethasone causing a false positive for alcohol however, some forms of Beclomethaxome do contain phenylethyl alcohol. Check the ingredients of the brand you use.

Cyclobenzaprine
Date: 2/16/2012
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW CYCLOBENZAPR STAY IN YOUR BODY.
JOHN

AskDocWeb: Cyclobenzaprine stays in the body approximately 4 days.

Positive for opiates
Date: 2/16/2012
I had parole show up at my house last night shortly after receiving oral sex from my girlfriend who is prescribed percoset and it was about a hr after wards I came up positive for opiates 2 times they are sending it to the lab and gave me the benefit of the doubt until the results come back. I have been clean for 7 months now stone cold sober. The lab will be able to tell that I didnt ingest any chemicals correct?
Dan

AskDocWeb: The purpose of sending the sample out to an independent lab is to confirm or deny the presence of opiates in your sample. If you haven't used any opiates then the result will come back negative. We do not believe the oral sex would have any affect on the test results.

Son failed drug test
Date: 2/16/2012
My son had surgery on his knee and wrist and he was drug tested and failed for marjuana. Could if be something he was given in the hospital.
Peggy

AskDocWeb: That is one possibility but if there is any doubt then please get a confirmation test. The current list shows 74 possible causes for a false positive for marijuana.

Hair test for Meth
Date: 2/17/2012
I am facing charges for endangerment to my child because he was positive on a hair test for Meth. (I haven't seen results) How could this be possible if he wasn't exposed to any injestion, or smoke from meth? I was told this is the only way possible for this to happen. I am not sure if he came into direct contact with someone who was using. Is it possible that his test postive through contact with them?
Slim

AskDocWeb: There are about 50 possible causes for a false positive for meth, some of them over-the-counter products. They include some cold meds, flu medications, and products for allergy relief. It is also possible for meth to be absorbed through the skin upon contact with contaminated surfaces.

Positive for methadone
Date: 2/17/2012
I am a suboxone patient and have been for over 2 yrs now, I have random urine tests and have never had a problem in the past. This last month I started taking new meds and also got a horrible cold and pneumonia. I was called into the dr's office today because my last urine came back positive for methadone. I know there is no way it can be in my system as I haven't taken any for over 2ys since I got on the subozone.

The new meds I am on are soriatan, prednisone and amitriptyline. I also use a pro air inhaler and have had delsym and nighquil for my cold and chest congestion. My dr told me that since methadone is a manmade synthetic there is no way possible to get a false positive, but I know something had to have happened please help me. could any of these have caused it, and if so were can I find the documentation to show him. They also just sent the urine that came back positive out to another lab to for a gc/ms test is there any way this test can come back as a false positive as well or will it prove my innocence?
Michelle

AskDocWeb: If you haven't used methadone then you will likely be okay. There are several sources that say Nyquil might test false positive for methadone. The GC/MS test returns a negative result on these type of false positives.

Tested positive for amphetamines
Date: 2/18/2012
I tested positive for amphetamines. The only things I have taken are extra strength acetaminophen, suphendrine pe maximum strength, naproxen given by my doctor and inj(toradol) for chest wall pain and ovarian cyst. I also drank a v8 fusion before the test. Can you help me find out how I tested for this drug I did not take? Thanks.
Christy

AskDocWeb: Sorry Christy, none of those medications have been reported to test positive for amphetamines on urine drug screens. You can find out if it is a false positive by getting a confirmation test.

Tested positive for Xanax
Date: 2/19/2012
I recently tested positive for xanax 47ng/ml (blood test), I've never taken one in my life, and .000 on breathalyzer. Need to know kinda soon anything that can cause a false positive. I take lisinopril (BP)and a statin for cholesteral. I also take oxycodone 5mg tablets as needed. Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Tibs

AskDocWeb: So far we have not seen anything that is documented to show a false positive for Xanax. However, there are antidotal reports of Etizolam showing up as a false positive for Xanax on drug tests. Etizolam is a thienodiazepine drug which is a benzodiazepine analog. Etizolam is marketed under the brand names Etilaam, Etizola, Sedekopan, Pasaden and Depas.

Azithromycin
Date: 2/19/2012
I would like to know if azithromycin would give a false positive for cocaine and if so, what test could be done to prove differently if the positive showed a week ago?
Joyce

AskDocWeb: Azithromycin has not been documented to cause a false positive on drug tests. The only way to prove that a drug test result was a false positive is to get a confirmation test at a certified lab. Typically this is done using either a Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) or high-performance liquid chromatography (LC/MS/MS).

Positive for PCP and borderline benzos
Date: 2/20/2012
My teen tested positive for PCP and borderline positive for benzos recently. Is this possible while taking Intuniv ER, Fluoxetine, and Lamotrigine? Also do you know the name of any red, scored in the middle, hard caplet that may cause a positive test result? Also, how long would it cause a positive or borderline reading? Thank you.
Lynn

AskDocWeb: According the Merck Manuals Lamotrigine may test false positive for PCP. Intuniv ER and Fluoxetine have not been documented to show up on drug tests as either PCP or benzos. If you suspect that unidentified caplet might be a benzodiazapine, a pharmacist may be able to give you a positive identification.

Enzite?
Date: 2/20/2012
Can enzite give false reading on a drug test?
Alex

AskDocWeb: There are no reports of Enzite causing false positives on drug tests.

Positive for morphine
Date: 2/21/2012
My husband had a drug test, and show positive for morphine, he is on hydrocodone, uluric, meloxicam, chantix, he has only had a morphine shot back in June 2011 for gout pain at a er. I know that should not be in his system but I know my husband does not take any drugs than what the dr order with taking these 4 drugs cause a false positive.
Glenda

AskDocWeb: Morphine has a short half-life (between 2 and 2.5 hours) and is typically completely out of the system within 24 hours. Your husband's 4 drugs, even in combination, have not been reported to cause a false positive for morphine. That doesn't rule out that possibility but a confirmation test would show if morphine was really in his sample or not.
