Failed for Opiates
I am out of inpatient and proudly clean off heroin for about a month and a half now. i was put in 'Outpatient' and have to take UA's Tuesdays and Thursdays, I've been sick for about 2 weeks now and almost immediately since I've been out, and failed for Opiates on Thursday. my ua was fine Tuesday. i had a real bad throat sickness and used some throat-spray that has one active ingredient called 'PHENOL'. i believe that is an opiate and have been told it too. whats your guys' take on it?
AskDocWeb: Phenol is an effective antiseptic and is an ingredient in many medications. However, it has not been identified as one of the substances that might cause a false positive drug test.
Accused of cocaine
Myeeh daughter had a urine drug test that showed a false positive for marijauma and cocaine the last time she smoked a joint was in late december She has never used cocaine she takes hydrocone and prozac can they show for cocaine? Also when she had a heart attack in 1999 she was accused of having cocaine in her system she had previously taken vicadin for back problems.
AskDocWeb: Here is the current list of substances that have been identified as possible causes of false positive drug test results:
Tested 65000 for meth!
My son has MS and is on a lot of medication. He tested positive for meth on drug test. Urine sample was sent for gc/ms test and came back positive. We know he is not doing meth, but they say that we are covering for him. lab said that he tested 65000 for meth. my doctor says if he had that much meth in his body, he would be dead or at very least be having seizures. we are at a loss as to what to do, this drug test was for visitation with his daughter. as of now, he can not see her or talk to her. what do you suggest? thank you.
AskDocWeb: Testing 65,000 for meth would indicate that he is either deceased or a chronic abuser. That is, unless they made an error somewhere in the testing process. Is that lab certified? If not the chances of an error rise quite a bit. Have you considered getting a second opinion from a different lab?
Does Tramadol show up on a drug test?
I am taking Tramadol for my back and I was wondering if it would give a false positive for opiates?
AskDocWeb: Tramadol has not been reported to show up as a false positive for opiates or anything else on drug tests for drugs of abuse.
Positive for synthetic marijuana?
Hello, my name is Brianna and i just recently tested positive for synthetic marijuana. I took a oral swab test from forensic fluids given to me by my p.o. I did NOT smoke marijuana, synthetic marjuana, or any other type of drug. I have been sober. I do however take adderall, lithium, and trazadone and have been smoking a west-side vapor electric cigarette. I also took 2 midols and a tums and drank ALOT of pop, coffee, and a red bull sometime the week of the test.
I want to fight this. They put me back on house arrest and took away everything i have gained because of this false positive. Please, how can i fight this? How can i prove them wrong? Is there anything that would make me falsely test positive for synthetic marijuana? Please let me know. I go to court next Thursday. I need to have a solid case, or i might be going back to rehab for no reason. Please let me know asap! -thanks-
AskDocWeb: Unfortunately your court date does not allow enough time to get a GC/MS confirmation test, which is about the only way to prove a false positive. Your legal counsel may be able to help you with that. Currently our database does not show anything that might cause a false positive for synthetic marijuana.
Tested positive for PCP
My husband tested positive for pcp. he is not a user of any drugs. He has been taking benadryl for allergies and steroids for asthma can this give him false positives?
AskDocWeb: Yes, according to an article in Clinical Chemistry, Benadry may test false positive for PCP. (See Clinical Chemistry 2002;48(4):676-7 "False-positive phencyclidine immunoassay results caused by venlafaxine and O-desmethylvenlafaxine")
Can Lisinopril affect polygraph results?
AskDocWeb: Sorry DF, this forum is limited to discussing drug testing for drugs of abuse.
Positive for THC
I have just taken a drug test today in order to get a job and my test came back positive. The only drugs I am taking is prescribed from my doctor, which are Synthroid, Micardis, and Atenolol. And my test came back positive for THC, do you have any info on any of these three drugs producing a false positive reading?
AskDocWeb: Those three medications have not been reported to cause any false positives on urine tests for drugs of abuse.
Exposure to fentanyl patch
My husband is on 125 mg fentanyl every 3 days, I am the one that puts them on him and they tend to fall off all the time, they leave a sticky residue on our sheets and I even found one stuck to me one morning. I tested positive for it and my question is am I being exposed to this medication? Should I wear gloves when putting them on him. Can my kids be exposed if they come in contact with the residue on my sheets?
AskDocWeb: Testing positive for fentanyl is proof that you are being exposed to this medication. If you are not opioid-tolerant that could have disastrous results, even death. The fentanyl patch contains a very potent narcotic pain medicine. It is only intended for patients who are opioid-tolerant, meaning those patients who take a regular, daily, around-the-clock narcotic pain medicine. For patients who are not opioid-tolerant, the amount of fentanyl in one fentanyl patch of the lowest strength is large enough to cause dangerous side effects, such as respiratory depression (severe trouble breathing or very slow or shallow breathing) and death. The signs of fentanyl overdose including the following:
I just took a urine test today and I am currenty taking ranitidine HCI 300mg 1 a day for heartburn I am wondering if this medicine has caused my positive. My life right now depends on this answer!
AskDocWeb: Our database shows three sources that say Ranitidine may show false positive for amphetamines (References: 32, 36, and 52) and two sources that say it may show false positive for methamphetamines (References: 33 and 52).
