Just had a false positive with cps for amphetamines i know i was clean how could this have happened i havent taken any drugs prescription illegal or over the counter what do i do
AskDocWeb: Without specifics all we can do is give you a general answer. Those who get a false positive usually contest the test result. Not doing so is considered an admission of guilt because in the USA today the test results are legally considered presumptive. That means you are considered guilty until proven innocent. It's one of the changes that have occurred here in recent years as we lose our constitutional rights. For a legal answer you may want to ask a Lawyer.
Pre-employment urine drug screening
Hello. I was wanting to know could topamax or Phentermine make you test positive for any of the 7 standard drug's thats tested for in an pre-empolyment urine drug screening.
AskDocWeb: Topamax has not been reported to cause any problems with drug screening but Phentermine may show up as a false positive for amphetamines or ecstasy. That's why it is a good idea to make a copy of your prescription for your personal records. Be sure to tell those doing the testing about all the prescriptions you are taking.
I have been thinking about using the product extagen lately and have a question about it. I am in the US army and was wondering would this product show up as a false positive on a drug test. I dont use drugs for recreation and dont want my to look like I do.
AskDocWeb: None of the ingredients in Extagen have been reported to show up on a drug test for drugs of abuse. However, there are some health concerns with using yohimbe if you are on some prescription medications.
T-blast (link removed) I would like to know if this product would show up as a positive and/or false positive on a D.O.T. drug test. Also, would anything in this product disqualify me from being a pilot (faa standards). Thank you,
AskDocWeb: We emailed the customer service department at NLA Performance and will post their reply when they do that.
Can celexa show a false positive for benzos
AskDocWeb: Celexa (Citalopram) is not known to cause a false positive for any drug of abuse. Of course it is still possible to get a false positive for other reasons. If you do get a false positive have the company doing the drug test confirm the results with a GC/MS test.
My daughter is taking Intuniv and gave a urine test it came back positive for morphine. Is it possible that the Intuniv caused a false positive?
AskDocWeb: Intuniv (Guanfacine) belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha-2a adrenergic receptor agonists. It might lead to a false-positive result on a screening test for pheochromocytoma but not for drugs of abuse. Pheochromocytoma is a rare adrenal gland tumor that causes excess amounts of catecholamines, usually noradrenaline (norepinephrine), and to a lesser extent adrenaline (epinephrine).
DOT drug screening
I had a random DOT drug screening at work they said it came back for 6-am specific to heroin use, but i know i have not used heroin. i am however on about 16+mg subutex a day is there any way this could've created a false positive to this extent. i do not know what to do or how to fight this!
AskDocWeb: Subutex is a brand name of Buprenorphine, which is also sold under the brand names Suboxone, Buprenex, and Temgesic. According to an article published in The American Association for Clinical Chemistry (Volume 55), it may test false positive for oxycodone. Although it has not been reported to show up as heroin you test result could still be a false positive for other reasons. You may want to ask a Lawyer or retain an attorney for legal help.
Positive for meth and oxy
I submitted a urine sample at my pain clinic today. It showed positive for meth and oxy but i dont do either. I am on fentanyl and hydrocodone which is prescribed to me. Why would i test positive for these others?
AskDocWeb: One possible explanation for the oxy is that hydrocodone has been known to test false positive for oxycodone. That is according to the University of Michigan and an ISO-certified drug testing lab called IT Laboratories. Fentanyl has sometimes tested false positive for LSD but not for meth. Depending on what test they used for the initial urine screening the tests have a false positive rate that may range up to 20% or higher. If your test result was a false positive and they allow you to get a confirmation test then you should be okay. Some pain clinics dismiss patients who get a false positive without bothering to get a confirmation test. That makes their statistics look good when they want to impress someone with their support for the War on Drugs.
Misunderstanding - truth or myth?
My son is enrolled in a drug court program in Alabama. We found what we believed to be paraphernalia in his pants pocket. Yesterday evening he explained the findings, and submitted to a drug test. I received an e mail from his probation officer that it was positive for Marijuana. My son said that the same thing happened to a young girl who just completed the program, she denied any marijuana use, and demanded it be sent to a lab. The test came back negative. My son has just demanded lab testing as well. My question is: Can there be a false positive on the tests that are used in the court house. I assume these are similar to the ones you buy in the drug stores. The court officer said "that was a misunderstanding" "that he did not let it sit for five minutes before testing" Is this truth or myth?
AskDocWeb: The initial urine drug tests used by law enforcement do have a false positive rate, which varies from one test manufacturer to the next. This is why additional testing in the form of a confirmation test is usually required when the individual being tested claims a false positive test result. Industry standards typically require that all positive samples be confirmed by a separate diagnostic test in a certified laboratory.
The court officer's comment about letting it set for 5 minutes appears to refer to the time it takes to get test results. Some urine tests are designed to give results in 5 minutes. Others tests yield results 3 minutes, 8 minutes, or even 10 minutes. The only myth we see here is that all urine tests take the same amount of time to yield results.
Old house that people smoked weed in...
Yes i am here today cause i just took a drug test and it came up positve for methamphatamine and thc... I have never did any of them in my life.... I was wondering since we move into an old house that ppl somked weed in all the time could that cause a false positive for thc also i have taken ibprofen.. Any ways sine we move in we've been cleaning the house we used Mean Green, All Purpose cleaner w/bleach, acetone, simple green, and we used tile glue.. And painted the house could inhaling any of these cause a false positive for methampatamine... Please Email me back
AskDocWeb: Your cleaning materials by themselves are not likely to cause a positive test result but cleaning and painting the house may have put you in contact with the drugs. If people smoked marijuana in that house for an extended period of time that raises the possibility that they used other drugs too. Although meth is absorbed very poorly through skin contact, absorption CAN be increased through use of certain carriers such as found in cleaning supplies. Any break in the skin, cuts, scratches, etc., increases that possibility so it looks like that is theoretically possible.
