I took 1 hydrocodone pill 36 hours ago. Will this show up on the army urinalysis. I do not have the prescription anymore. I had the pills prescribed years ago. But because it's not a current prescription they can kick me out.
AskDocWeb: Because dosage requirements are variable so is the time it takes to leave your system but the half-life is only about 4 hours. The longest we have heard that hydrocodone (Vicodin) was detectable was 7 days after the last dose. The minimum clear time was 3 days.
Is it true that someone taking naproxen can be tested false positive for thc/marijuana?
AskDocWeb: Yes, that is according to Legal Bulletin 6.4 from the Lewisburg Prison in Pennsylvania.
Subj: Big mistake
I made a big mistake and tried committing suicide with seraquil by take ten of them at 100mg each. Ten days later I had to take a urine test and was tested positive for methanphentamine. I am 100 percent clean when it comes down to drugs please help I've been so wrongfully accused. Was it the seraquul? I need a answer fast please help.
AskDocWeb: How can you be 100 percent clean when you admit to overdosing on drugs? Isn't that one form of drug abuse?
Is there any documentation or a case study which show a false positive for propoxyphene (darvon/darvocet) on a urine drug test?
AskDocWeb: See the Toxicology Lab Technical Brief from Dr. Joseph Graas, Ph.D. at www.medicalassistedtreatment.com/245760/index.html
I am in the military and tested positive for methanphetamine, what can cause a false positive?
AskDocWeb: All false positives that we have references for are listed on this page.
Subj: Lorcet not showing up when it should
I take lorcet for pain relief and had a urine screening done. The urine screening in office didn't show that I took anything, but when it was sent to the lab it showed a trace amount of hydrocodone (which I even took one about 4 hours before this test) and a trace amount of oxycodone. I haven't took any sort of oxycodone for well over 10 years. I had some dental work (temporary crown) put in about 3 weeks prior to this test too. What has caused this?
AskDocWeb: Others have complained about drugs not showing up in their system when they should but so far there is no answer as to why this happens. Maybe a future reader will be able to help with this.
Subj: False positive for ecstasy
I have some type of connective tissue disorder dr. still have no answers. my Rhumetologist retired and I was reffered to a pain Mgt. specialist. I was currently on hydorcodone 10, soma, celexa, provigil, adderall, minocycline, and Polyhist forte. I occaisionally took diet pills containing ephedermine. I have never took anything illegal in my life I don't even drink or go anywhere that I could have been slipped something yet my urine test came back positive for ectasy. My dr. did not tell me this until my second visit 3 months later and said that the new test was nothing out of the ordinary, so not to worry about it. He is now retiring and I will see a new Dr. associated with the same clinic. I am a mother of two and this really bothers me knowing this is on my record when I know that I never put that into my body. The Dr. says that nothing that I took could have caused this test to be false positive. I know there has to be an explanaiton and if so is there something I can do to clear my record so when I see my new Dr. I can start off fresh. I am since only taking celexa, adderall, solodyne, roxicodone 10, and restorill. I also want to make sure that this doesn't happen again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
AskDocWeb: Our best guess is that the false positive for ecstasy was caused by the diet pills. In order to clear your record the original sample would have to be sent out to a certified lab for GC/MS confirmation. Did that happen? When that sample is no longer available it may not be possible to clear your record. Of your current medications, Adderall might be a problem. It is an amphetamine and has shown up as Meth on urine drug tests. You may want to consider alternatives for that drug.
Subj: Confused and worried
Hello there, My husband just received a positive drug test result for three kinds of Benzos and yet he has never taken any. His results came up like this: NORDIAZEPAM 266 OXAZEPAM 603 TEMAZEPAM 279 We are completely confused about this and cannot figure out why this would happen. He is a pain patient and takes Vicodin 4 times a day (10/325), a statin drug for the stroke he had, Prozac (20 mgs), Robaxin (6 times a day 750mg), Protonix, an 81nmg aspirin, and NyQuil each night. He also takes three kinds of ear medications off and on for an infection: 1)Neomycyn with Ploymaxin B sulfates and Hydrocortisone. 2)Anytpyrine, and Benzocaine 3) Ofloxacin. He also is smoking a new pipe tobacco that is really rolling tobacco. The tobacco companies are doing it this way because it is cheaper and keeps us smoking. The name is: 2 Daughters, LLC. Brand is Cockstrong. This test cost $1800 and was a urine test. What could of happened? We are extremely confused and am worried because he is very "on the ball" with his meds. Thank you for your time!
AskDocWeb: Other people have reported problems with four of the drugs your husband is taking. They have shown up as false positive on urine drug tests as follows:
Subj: Tested positive for morphine
My son was prescribed xanax for surgery. He was also given novacane and laughing gas during the procedure. When he did a drug test, it came back positive for morphine 2x in a span of 10 days. Is this possible and what could have caused it?
AskDocWeb: Xanax contains benzodiazepines (Reference 18) but it has not been reported to show up as morphine. If you go back to the main list and do a word search on morphine you will see that there are many things that could cause the positive result for morphine.
Note: To do a word search, hold down the control key then press the letter f (release both keys). A search box will open in which you can type the word morphine. Clicking on "Find Next" repeatedly will show you each occurrence of the word.
Subj: Positive on Cocaine
Hello, this Sunday morning I had a urine drug test. On Monday I had the results and they were positive on Cocaine, these results came from lab 1. Since I have never taken cocaine before in my life I got retested on Monday night on two different labs, lab 1 and lab 2. This time the test coming from Lab 1 came negative on cocaine but positive on benzodiazepine and the test coming from lab 2 came negative in every drug. I have no idea why is this happening to me but even if the lab 2 tested negative my parents don't trust me because lab 1 tested positive and negative on two different things on two different tests, and have never ever taken cocaine in my entire life. I have to say that I got extremely drunk on Friday and also drank on Saturday, and I had chamomile tea Sunday afternoon (which I read has the same properties of benzodiazepamine) I got drunk at a party so maybe someone put some coke on my drink. It might also be that lab 1 had really bad hygienic conditions (I peed on a baby food bottle) and on lab 2 which was more expensive I peed on a sterilized cup. This is all the info I can give you, I really need you help because my life is getting destroyed thanks to the lab 1 tests. Help. And thank you so much.
AskDocWeb: It may help to tell your parents about the importance of lab certification. Uncertified labs have lower standards and mistakes happen more frequently. If lab 1 was using baby food bottles to collect samples, it could not get certification.
Subj: Positive for opiates/morphine?
Ever since my son started taking Xanax, he has been testing positive for opiates/morphine. GC/MS test was used (so they say). Do you have any explanation why? The only other medz he has taken during the period of his testing was Novacaine (when he had dental surgery), Motrin, Tylenol (regular), laughing gas, benadryl for allergy.
AskDocWeb: It sounds like you may doubt that they used a GC/MS confirmation test. If they (whoever they are) really did used the GC/MS test then they should have no problem showing you the documented results.
Subj: Alcohol in my urine
I recently had an alcohol urine test for a job and was told I tested high for alcohol in my urine. I do drink (wine with dinner or martinis when out with friends on the weekend). This job is not one that requires that a person doesn't consume alcohol ever. But I guess b/c of the read they have made mention. That said I recently had bronchitis and was on a series on antibiotics (Z-pack), an inhaler thing & Guaifenesin/Codeine Sol. When I took the test I mentioned I had had bronchitis but was no longer on any prescription meds (I had been off med for 2 days - day of test was 2nd day). When I went for follow up the day before the urine test my doctor did said my chest had a rumble and told me to get an otc decongestant (I got sudifed). Please advise if any of this could have made me test positive for alcohol. FYI, the antibiotics also caused a yeast infection (but I wasn't on meds for this prior to the urine test). The lab tech that took the urine sample seemed to question my urine (even though she watched me pee) because it was clear. I had barely ate for the 2 weeks I was battling bronchitis (zpack 1st week ... when lungs were not open after 1st wk my Dr. started me on the inhaler and Guaifenesin/codeine the 2nd wk). But had plenty of water.
AskDocWeb: Sorry Ms. M, none of what you list has been reported to cause a false positive for alcohol.
AskDocWeb: Please see the answer to the post by Stephen.
