After using this medicine approxmately a month and a half many hair begun to appear in my face in my ears and in my forehead and down my eyes and in my cheeks, knowing that I stopped using this medicine from 38 days. What shall I do...and I wanna ask if I will lose this facial hair by time or not?..plz I want a reply coz am really in a bad situation.
AskDocWeb: I hope today isn't "Unwanted hair growth day." Your email came in almost at the same time as Rania's above. She also has hair growing where it isn't wanted. Read the answers to the two posts above.
Mustache, Beard or Chest?
Can I use Minoxin-2% spray for the growth of hair in Mustache, Beard and Chest?
AskDocWeb: Minoxidil is intended and approved for use only on the scalp. The directions specifically say not to use it on other parts of the body unless directed by your doctor. That doesn't mean that you can't use it other places, just that you should talk to your doctor first.
Hi, I used trikosik like a mintop...i used very strictly since two months...and i used for 6 months tugain 5% after that my docter prrferd for 6 months ....starting one month ok...now i got a gap 15 days...again my hairfall is start...what am (I to) do? and my q is really those are work.....mintop...and, that trikosik 5%....something please answer me sir
AskDocWeb: Sorry Teja, we have no information about Trikosik. If the active ingredient in it is minoxidil then you have to use it continuously in order to maintain the extra hair growth. The same is true for Tugain solution, which is another brand name for minoxidil.
Too young to be bald
I am 18. I have a lot of dandruff and I lose a lot of hair daily. I have been using 'hair 4u' (minoxidil and aminexil) for 3 weeks and my hair r fallin like hell. Should I discontinue using this?? And I also take 1 folliderm tablet every night. Please advice as I am way too young to be bald...
AskDocWeb: Did you check with a dermatologist to find out what kind of hair loss you have before using Minoxidil? In some cases, it can do more harm than good. A dermatologist can determine if you have Alopecia Areata or Telogen Effluvium. If you have either of these then Minoxidil probably won't work for you. This is one reason why people have bloodwork done before beginning a hair loss treatment.
Ketoconazole lotion 2% shampoo
I am 18 yr old now. I started using minoxidil a yr ago. 1st I was given once a day dose of 2% solution. The doctor also gave me some injections for 6 months(1 month each). After 5-6 months of no effect, he gave 5% solution, with twice a day dose. However, with 4 month of application, I found it ineffective and hence discontinued it. After 4 months, I started using it again, but now after 20 days, I am witnessing even more hairloss, and this doctor(its another one this time) has prescribed ketoconazole lotion 2% shampoo also, to be used twice a week. Will this be effective?
AskDocWeb: It is not unusual to experience shedding when beginning a new hair loss medication. There is enough evidence to suggest that Ketoconazole would help in some cases but it is not possible to say how effective it might be.
Ketoconazole is an anti-fungal agent that is effective in topical applications for treating seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff. It is also prescribed for candidiasis, ringworm, athlete's foot, and jock itch. Seborrheic dermatitis commonly affects sebaceous glands in hair-bearing areas of the head. Ketoconazole is thought to help by fighting the fungal infection, decreasing inflammation, and decreases testosterone in the skin where it is applied. Topical ketoconazole is also known for removing and reducing sebum deposits, which unclogs hair follicles.
Hair loss after stopping Minoxidil
I'm 26 years old. A year ago I used Minoxidil 10 and I found huge improvement in hair growth that was amazing and I stopped using Minoxidil (after 3 months) from that hair losing continued consistently. Now still I could see some hairs in between(about 1cm) even now it seems like again I lost all hairs wat I gained while using Minoxidil. Is it only temporary? What am (I) supposed to do to get my hairs permanently. Help me out.
AskDocWeb: It sounds like you want a permanent solution to hair loss. Unfortunately there is NO product on the market that gives permanent results. It is important to know the difference between a treatment and a cure. Currently there is no cure for hair loss. There are only treatments that have to be used continuously in order to maintain the hair growth. If you stop using the treatment, the hair loss increases until you are right back where you started. It is not your hair loss that is temporary, it's the hair growth that is caused by the treatment that is temporary.
Huge hair loss
Sir, I am Sooraj, male, 26, Kerala, India....I had hairloss problems & had a thinning vertex(crown) also had less hair on my frontal part of my head. I started using minoxidil on July 2010, & had a good result for last 6 months. I used coverit solution & it had made my scalp covered with hair & had less hair loss... Then after that I used minoxidal only once a day...now for the last two weeks I am experiencing a huge hairloss & my bald spot at the vertex started to make its visibility...pls help...will using minoxidal again two times a day could bring back my hair?
AskDocWeb: Yes, if you had good results using it twice a day before then using it again is likely to restore that good result.
