Serious sores in my head
I started using miloxidil and had great results in three months. I continued using the product and had serious sores in my head where I applied the 5%.... now I can't use 5 or 2%. Why is it causing burning and sores on my head now?
AskDocWeb: This can occur for a number of reasons. One possibility is that your scalp has reached the limit of the amount of irritation that it can take. This can also occur with a change in shampoo or conditioner but serious sores need to be examined by your personal physician.
I'VE BEEN USING MINOXIDIL 5% FOR 7 MONTHS NOW BUT SEEMS LIKE THERE'S NO IMPROVEMENT IN MY HAIR. ITCHINESS EVERYTIME I APPLY MINOXIDIL IS THERE BUT I DID NOT EXPERIENCE HAIRFALL. PLS TELL ME WHAT SHOULD I DO, DO I HAVE TO STOP USING MINOXIDIL NOW OR SHALL I CONTINUE USING IT?
AskDocWeb: The patient information for minoxidil says to tell your doctor if your hair growth does not increase after using Minoxidil for 4 months.
Side note: It is generally considered bad manners to use all capital letters when posting. Some people consider that shouting.
Swelling and terrible eye bags
I have been using minoxidil 5% 1 ml twice a day for 9 to 12 monthes. Once per day was on a wet scalp. I now wake up with large amounts of swelling of my upper and lower eye lids. They get better as the day progresses, but don't completely go away. I noticed this 3 to 6 monthes after starting the minoxidil, but thought it was allergies, because it was spring. I stopped using the product 2 weeks ago, but have had no improvement. Will this ever go away? How long does it usually take? I am a pharmacist and know the half-life is only about 4 hours. I am very scared. The eye bags look terrible.
AskDocWeb: It may or may not be connected but not following directions can cause problems. Was there a reason for applying it when you scalp was wet? The directions say to make sure that your hair and scalp are completely dry before applying this medication.
There is always a chance that something unrelated has developed so maybe it is time to get it checked out.
I'VE BEEN USING MINOXIDIL 5% FOR ALMOST 7 MONTHS NOW BUT I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE'S NO PROGRESS IN MY HAIR. I DID NOT EXPERIENCE HAIR FALL OR SHEDDING AND EVERYTIME I APPLIED MINOXIDIL ITCHINESS IS STILL THERE. I PLAN TO TAKE BIOTIN AND STILL CONTINUE TO APPLY MINOXIDIL IF AFTER A YEAR PROGRESS IN MY HAIR IS NOTICEABLE. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
AskDocWeb: We think more people would read your post if it wasn't all capital letters. There is some evidence that hair loss can be reduced when biotin is taken by mouth in combination with zinc. The itchiness is a common side effect of minoxidil.
Increased hair loss
Hi, I am 31 years old female and have hair loss and receding hair line. I have been using amexidil 5% 2 ml a day for a week now. My hair fall seems to have increased. please suggest if I should continue and how long would the shedding continue. Is it normal?
AskDocWeb: According to the product information for minoxidil you should check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following rare side effects occur:
Mintop Forte 5
Hi, I am a 29 years old male, and i had hair lose since 10 years, my hair reducing day by day. Write now my hair front side very boldness. I using mintop forte 5. plz any one tel me is this product gud or bad. if we use use product we can see the original regrowth improvement or not?
AskDocWeb: The main ingredient in Mintop Forte 5 is minoxidil. To evaluate this product we look to the clinical trials. On the ClinicalTrials.govwebsite there is "A Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness and Safety of 5 Percent Minoxidil Foam in the Treatment of Male Pattern Hair Loss" which was started in October of 2003. Although that study was completed in July of 2004 the results were never published. It appears that the results would not support the use of this product or they would have been published.
Hair falling out in places
Dear askdocweb, I used minoxdil in march 2012 and stopped in april 2012.But after stopping, even now I notice that my hair falling in places where I gad applied mintop...even my strong hairs are falling. Will my hair shed due to mintop grow back even if I am not using mintop? I mean will the strong hairs I shed come back..because its 8 months now and hair not growing.
AskDocWeb: You may need to consult with a dermatologist, especially since there was no improvement in the past 8 months. If you haven't had a professional evaluation of the condition of your scalp then we suggest you do that. There is always the possibility that there may be something else going on.
Hi! I am 32 years old. I was advised by a friend of mine to use minokem*-n 5%, as I am lossing my hair. My question is i suffer from dandruff problem so in this should i use this solution. If yes then in that case for long should I keep this solution before taking a bath. Please advice. Does it have any side effects.
AskDocWeb: Dandruff is one of the common side effects of that product so if you already suffer from dandruff then Minokem may make that worse. If you first find out why you are losing hair then you can choose an appropriate treatment. Have you consulted with a dermatologist?
MX 10% solution?
I am using MX 10% solution and pilogrow 5% will it help to grow hair? Also using folli hair, fincar & VIT Tabs.
AskDocWeb: It appears that those products are actively marketed in India and we don't have enough data to comment on them. If readers have used these products feel free to share your experience.
How long do I have to use minoxidil?
I had severe stress. Actually my hair was better before but mow i am seeing some bald spots all over the scalp moreover on top area. I am feeling stress with this. If I use minoxidil how long I have to use, and when can I discontinue it.
AskDocWeb: If minoxidil works for you, the benefits of using it persist only as long as you continue using it. When you stop using it the new hair growth that minoxidil stimulated falls out over a period of several months.
