Mixing minoxidil with distilled water
Hi....i have been using minoxidil 5% for past two months and suffering from dandruff ....my dermatologist suggested me to mix 0.5 ml of distilled water and 1 ml of minoxidil ... will this be as effective as minoxidil alone and will it stop the dandruff ..please reply
AskDocWeb: Adding anything else too to minoxidil will most likely reduce the effectiveness of the solution somewhat but it may also result in reduced dandruff.
Hi ,i was using rogain 2% for 15 days but because of hair loss i stopped using it, and now my hairs are shedding 20-30% more daily, so my first quetion is how long will it keep on shedding, 2) will the sheeded hair grows back or rogain has killed the follicles???
AskDocWeb: We would be surprised if the increased shedding lasted more than 3 weeks. If it does then there may be something else going on from an unrelated cause. And there is no cause for concern about your hair follicles. There is no evidence that Rogaine kills hair follicles.
Hi, I am 37yrs old women. I have hair fall and I think its called androgenetic alopecia and I am so depressed. Here doctor suggest me to use minokem-n 5% in the morning 1ml, Renocia Shampoo and to wash hair 4-5 times a week and Regan spray to spray before sleeping in the bald area and also give Iron tablets. Is this the right prescription given to me and how long I have to wait for hair growth and appling Minokem do have side effects in eyes as I have done Lasik?
AskDocWeb: Although sometimes called androgenetic alopecia, it is actually androgenic alopecia. That's the condition where scalp hair density gradually decreases over time due to the hair follicles susceptibility to androgen secretion following puberty. This is believed to be due to a genetic disposition. Although people often associate androgenic alopecia with men, it also affects women. Fortunately it rarely leads to total baldness in women.
On the other hand there is no one right prescription for everyone. If the treatment you are following works, you should start noticing results sometime between three and six months. Any blurred vision, puffy eyes, or dark circles under the eyes should be discussed with your doctor. That doesn't happen very often but it is possible.
How long does it take?
i have been using minoxidil and aminexil 2% solution under the guidance of my dermatologist for the last 20 days but still facing hair fall problem and feel itchiness on my scalp, after showering with the normal mild shampoo my hair fall is so high. How long it will take to reduce my hair fall and suggest me the shampoo.
AskDocWeb: The product data for minoxidil says that it may cause increased hair loss during the first two weeks however, if it continues after two weeks, see your doctor. For shampoo we recommend NISIM NewHair BioFactors to support healthy hair growth.

AskDocWeb: All the current treatments for hair loss have to used continuously in order to keep their benefits. The menu column on the left side of this page lists a number of "Hair Loss Products" and each has comments from users to give you an idea of how well they work.
Losing more hair
I have been using Minoxidil for last 1 month. To make its use more effective, i removed all my hairs and started applying it. In 1st few days i found it was releasing some skin. Later it stopped. Now around after 1 month, I saw some new tiny hairs coming out, but when i take shower I can see small hairs shedding. My friends I have lost more hair than before. Can anyone pls provide is this the common issue? should i stop using this?
AskDocWeb: Sorry to hear that you are losing more hair than before. The product data sheet for Minoxidil says to consult with your doctor if hair loss continues beyond 2 week of continuous use of this product. Have you consulted with a dermatologist?
Trying them all
Hello, I have used Rogaine 5 % for 1st month with Finax, salve MNX forte 10% in 2nd month followed by Hair4u 10% for 3rd and 4th and the switch to ranbaxy amexidil(minoxdil + amenixil) 5% and after 6 month i stopped using Finax. I want to know that which brand of minoxidil is good. Please tell me which one brand minoxdil product should i continue to use and should i continue to use FINAX also.
AskDocWeb: Are you trying to stop hair loss or regrow the hair you have already lost? It seems that you are expecting results in one month and switching when you are disappointed. Sorry to say but results just do not happen that fast. It takes at least three months in the best of situations to see results. The greatest benefit from the products used successfully to treat hair loss is seen from 5 months to a year after starting continuous use.
