Feedback from users indicates that the generics may not be as effective for acne as is the regular Ortho Tri-cyclen. Subj: Got pregnant on Lo Date: 1/18/2007 I took that pill for the past three years and got pregnant. No, I have not missed a single pill. And I still got pregnant. Turned out that I was not alone. My doctor said that she sees a couple of women every few weeks (!!!) that get pregnant while taking Ortho Tricyclen Lo. I wish I could file a law suite against the company, which produces it, or at least get them to pay for my abortion. Do not take this pill if you want to spare yourself an unpleasant procedure. Date: 1/20/2007 I have Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and am starting the pill for the first time, I was told that this is a low dose pill and good for not gaining weight, which was my main concern, but I've read/heard that this pill has actually caused more negative side effects than positive and I was just wondering what other birth control pills would be suitable for me? Subj: Don't feel like eating Date: 1/22/2007 Today is Monday, and I started taking the pill (ortho tri cyclen lo) yesterday at 5pm (Sunday) I haven't had anything to eat since about 9pm Saturday night. I know that my body is hungry, but I can't eat... I don't feel sick but I just don't feel like eating...since about a half hour after I took it, I have had that feeling of not wanting to eat...please help Jordan AskDocWeb: You don't have to feel hungry to eat, you can do that even if you don't feel hungry. Avis AskDocWeb: According to the adverse reaction list from the manufacturer, acne may be caused by Ortho Tricyclen Lo, unlike Ortho Tri-cyclen which is proven to help with acne. I use to only get little "whitehead" zits and recently I have been getting deep under the skin painful zits that have no head to them. We suggest a trip to a dermatologist before you decide one way or the other. If the Ortho Tri-cyclen is helping and you quit taking it, then you may find yourself in a worse situation. Subj: I thought I was crazy Date: 1/23/2007 In my early 20's I used Depo Provera and it was disastrous for me. I bled profusely for months. Since then I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen and the new low hormones form. I stopped taking it three months ago and noticed a significant improvement in my mood. I had a lot more energy and my sex drive was back. I thought I was crazy to link my mood improvement to my cessation of contraceptives, until I read many testimonies of other women who reported similar experiences. I want to get back on the pill but have no idea which one to switch to. Any advice? Subj: Concerned about weight Date: 1/23/2007 I am 19 years old and have been on ortho tri cyclen for about two months now. I know from experience that it takes a few months for your body to get used to any new pill. I have been trying to find the right pill for the past eight years or so and have tried just about every pill on the market. I have been sexually active with the same person for over a year. I am very active, eat healthy and love exercising. Within the past year, I have lost almost 30 lbs. by diet and exercise. While I no longer am on a strict diet, I still maintain very healthy eating habits despite all the "college life" temptations. Bottom line, I work very hard to maintain my current size and physique. Since I started the pill I have gained about 3-5 lbs. Because of this, I have cracked down on eating healthier and going to the gym more often and it still doesn't seem to come off! My question is...since I'm on the pill, is trying to lose this weight a lost cause? Will it take longer to come off? Or, am I just being paranoid? Macy AskDocWeb: No, you are not being paranoid. With birth control a woman can gain from 10-20 lbs.. If the result of trying to loose weight is zero pounds lost then you have come out ahead because if you don't try, you are almost sure to gain weight. Just keep doing what you're doing, you will be fine in the long run. Subj: Worried about being able to have a child Date: 1/23/2007 Hello, my wife has late cycles so her doctor prescribed her birth control. We are worried about the long term side effects of taking birthcontrol since she has problems with low ovulation. She usually takes her birthcontrol but she is scared about the side effects and the possibilities of not ever being able to have a child. What should we do? We know not taking her birthcontrol puts her at risk because she doesn't have regular menstrual cycles.
