Subj: Lost out
Date: 11/21/2007
I ordered phentermine 37.5mg through the internet only to receive a letter from the board of customs stating that they intercepted my pkg. as it was illegal... this is news to me. It told me on the website it was 100 percent legal and no script required. I am not too successful at convincing my doc to give me a script so I am asking do you have any suggestions on how I may get a script or if anyone knows of a website that is legal to order from. I lost out on $358.00 on my last order. I never received my money back unfortunately nor did the customs people offer to help. I have gained weight due to thyroid problems and now that things seem to be under control so they say I cannot lose my extra 10 lbs. I gained I am a very small framed person and my breasts have gotten huge and my stomach is all bloated. I have back problems and my bras don't fit at all. My normal weight that I have been for years is around 110-115 and I am 5' 5". I am now on the upwards of 130 lbs. and no matter what I do I don't ever go down what is the deal.
Sandy

AskDocWeb: Sorry to hear that you were scammed by a drug dealer. Hopefully the next time someone tells you that you don't need a prescription to buy a prescription drug, you will recognize the scam. Please note that if what you have been doing is not working then it may be time to try something else. We suggest you put your focus on eating for nutrition and exercising for fitness.

Subj: Research for weight loss
Date: 11/22/2007
I've done alot of research for weight loss, my insurance doesn't prescribe medication, so I'm wondering how else I can purchase phentermine? I'm considering the lap-band surgery, but would like to try the medication first. I had taken fen-fen and done really well on it, but went thru some tough times where food was my comfort. I'm usually a very healthy person. My BMI is now at 45 UGH! Can you help? Thanks-
Jody

AskDocWeb: We suggest you follow your doctor's lead in treating this, and do something soon or you may not have a later.

Subj: BE WARNED!
Date: 11/26/2007
I took this drug for a few months - initially had no problems with it and in 12 weeks time I had lost 35 pounds. Amazing right? I even recommended friends of mine to talk to their doctors about this amazing drug. But now? NO! Don't use phentermine! During the time I had used it, I had substantial side effects that I hadn't realized were connected. I had constant feelings of deja vu', confusion, inability to concentrate, loss of short term memory, lightheadedness and more. Again - at the time I hadn't realized these were related to my use of the phentermine. I went off the drug happy with my weight loss - and about six months later started taking it again when I noticed I had gained about 10 pounds back. Two days into taking the phentermine again I had a massive seizure. I had never had a seizure before and have no family history of seizures/epilepsy. A team of doctors contributed my seizure to the use of the phentermine, and as a result the use of the drug was immediately stopped. It's been almost 3 years since I took the drug and my short term memory, ability to focus and pay attention to detail, and my concentration levels have not yet recovered. For a while I was in disbelief that it was the drug's fault because I had been on it the first time without (I thought) any side effects. But I am absolutely sure this drug was the source of these side effects and the reason for my seizure. I just thank god that I was home when I had the seizure and not driving my young daughter somewhere. Please be wary of this drug!

Date: 11/26/2007
I have also have had a lot of hair loss from Phentermine. My questions is, will my hair come back after discontinuing Phentermine? I already use Nizarol.
Donna

AskDocWeb: It should return slowly over several months. It depends on the condition of your basic health.

Subj: Can't order online
Date: 11/29/2007
I have use phentermine 37.5 mg, and went very well, but I tried to order through other web sites and they want my physician's info. I never had this problem before! I have gain weight, and is trying to get back on phentermine, those pills are magic, and the only ones that have really worked on me! Please help!
Lariza

AskDocWeb: The reason they want your physician's info is because this is a prescription drug and by law they need a prescription from a doctor in order to sell it.

Subj: Tested positive for amphetamines
Date: 11/30/2007
I have been taking phentermine for about a week. I have taken it off and on with being prescribed by my doctor. I have recently tested positive for amphetamines. I also take Zyrtec-d. Are these reasons for testing positive? The woman that called me to info me of this didn't want to believe me and asking if I had taken anything else. My question just comes back to will taking the medicines that I have listed cause the positive results?
Dennis

AskDocWeb: Yes, it is possible. See reference 3, 4, and 11 here.

Subj: Blood clogs
Date: 12/3/2007
I was watching a medical program on TV, they were saying that diet pills cause blood clogs is this true.
DEb

AskDocWeb: It isn't listed as a side effect of phentermine however, one of the contraindications is blood vessel disease.

Subj: Change in menstrual cycle?
Date: 12/5/2007
I have a question about the drug Phentermine and your menstrual cycle. Can this affect it? I have read forums of women being late while on the drug. Please help I would like some advice before seeing my doctor. Please help me!
Daisy

AskDocWeb: Yes, phentermine can cause a change in your menstrual cycle.

Subj: Never again
Date: 12/9/2007
This stuff is terrible, that's really how I feel. I have only been taking phentermine for about 3 weeks and have lost maybe 10 lbs. but to feel like this is not worth the weight. I am 5'9" and weigh about 175, my heaviest weight was 267 lbs. so I got a trainer and lost all the weight thru exercise and nutrition. My body has never hurt so much in all the 2 years of weight lifting and cardio. I advise anybody to get of this crap! I will continue my nutrition and exercise like I should have because that's what worked. I am so pissed at myself for being on it and putting this poison into my body. Never, never again. I too have had headaches, stiff neck, chest hurts, it just makes me mad when I start to list the side effects it had on me. I learned my lesson early, I say to anyone considering this drug, do not! It could save your life.

Subj: 3 years on Phentermine
Date: 12/13/2007
I have been on Phentermine 37.5 once a day for almost 3yrs now. My doctor prescribed them for my thyroid condition(tired all time/overweight/no energy). Oh my, it was like a miracle drug for me! In about 9 months I went from 239lbs to 170! Unfortunately of course over time the effectiveness has wore thin. I try to take a "medication vacation" as they call it, for at least 30days but its very hard going back to being tired and lifeless which leads to being depressed which leads to more tiredness! But all in all Phentermine changed my life for the better. As far as the side effects, yes it constipates you because it dries you out so badly, which also explains the horrible taste always in your mouth too! Water, water is all u can do. Also because it is a stimulant and we are basically speeding from it, it is a stressor on our bodies which can lead to slight hair thinning and acne! I experienced both but only for the first few months...any kind of stress related side effects can be related to taking Phentermine but will subside. The +'s of this drug has outweighed the -'s for me.

Subj: Rash hives
Date: 12/16/2007
Hi, I have been on phentermine 37.5 now for 2 months and really can't tell I've lost any weight yet. I have just about finished my 2nd month of it and now I have a rash that has come over my body in different areas. My doctor has not said anything to me about this being a side effect from phentermine, but reading this article it shows it might be! I went to her about the rash looking hives and she gave me a shot of cortizone and it went away for a couple of days and now it's back. I have taken this phentermine 37.5 before and it never did me like this. What should I do? Will this really harm me?
Cindy

AskDocWeb: It is possible that you may have to discontinue use if you are having an allergic reaction to the phentermine. Keep your doctor informed about this.

Subj: Heart rate is faster and pounding
Date: 12/18/2007
I started using phentermine at 26yrs old and now I am 30 and still use it. I did loose over 30lbs the first year, took a break and started using it again, but haven't really lost anything significant since the first year of use. However, recently I noticed that when I take the phentermine my heart rate is faster and pounding, which I have never experienced in the past years. So does this mean that the older one gets the less effective or possibility of more side effects?.
Snobfreelady

AskDocWeb: It is not necessarily age but rather the length of time you have used it that affects effectiveness. Do not ignore your fast heart rate, it's a warning sign that should be reported to your doctor.

Subj: Hair starting to thin
Date: 12/21/2007
I've been on Phentermine for 2 1/2 months now, and I noticed my hair is starting to really thin. Please help! Could it be now that I'm not eating as much, I may need supplements? Please advise!
Che'

AskDocWeb: That is one of the hazards of going on a diet. If you need a supplement for hair loss take a look at Advecia.
