Hi, I have hairloss and I'm 21 years old, my doctor gave me nopecia as acure for 4 monthes, will it have a bad effects to me?
AskDocWeb: Nopecia seems to be the Egyptian version of Propecia. According to ADWIA Pharmaceutical Co., the manufacturer, 1.4% of those using this drug discontinued because of adverse events (bad effects). That means the chances of having bad effects are small but at the same time real.
Seizures with Propecia?
Has anyone experienced seizures with this product? This is the only drug I've taken in four months and I've awakened in the AM with a bloody, lacerated tongue. Yesterday, 7/29, I had a seizure that my parents witnessed and was taken to the ER. I feel I've probably had maybe 4 seizures since I've started taking this drug. CAT scans normal. Now, no driving for three months and my livelihood depends on driving for a part-time job and access to SDSU. Anyone else had this problem?
AskDocWeb: Although there are a few antidotal reports of Propecia causing seizures it is not listed as a side effect in the product information from the manufacturer.
Sexual side effects
I've used Propecia for almost 1.5 years and noticed little sexual side effects but I said may be all these people experiencing sexual side effect they're stressed by something else specially with the statistics shown that most of men in are not happy with their sexual life. Now I decided to stop the product since I've not gain new hair, and after couple of week I noticed how this product decreased my sexual desire, increase of libido, volume of ejaculate (amount of semen) now I realized the negative effect to sex drive, and I'd recommend to all not to purchase this product until they solve the effects.... being bald is much better of live with impotence.
Fineprecia increased my sexual intentions
Hi, Am 23 years old. I am having slightly male pattern of baldness. Doctor suggested me Fineprecia from Cipla. I am using it from past two weeks. I didn't see any hair growth yet. I should be patient on that Doc told me the effect will take about 6 months time. But, from the past two weeks it increased my sexual intentions. Though am not married am having twice a day ejaculations.
AskDocWeb: That is an unusual reaction. Did it start on the very first day of taking the pills?
Propecia destroyed my libido
Took for ten days, and destroyed my libido. I quit and haven't had a woody in a week! I'm terrified! anyone who uses this stuff is nuts! Also can't sleep and anxious - but then, who wouldn't be!
Hi, I touched the crushed Proscar by accident and i plan to have a baby recently. How long should i wait to try again after touching the crushed proscar? Besides, how long should i wait to try again after touching the pill "Avodart"? Thanks a lot.
AskDocWeb: According to the Avodart website, "Women should not take or touch AVODART due to risk of a specific birth defect. If a woman comes in contact with leaking AVODART Capsules, she should wash the contact area immediately with soap and water."
"If a woman who is pregnant with a male baby gets enough AVODART in her body by swallowing or touching AVODART, the male baby may be born with sex organs that are not normal."
The dutasteride in Avodart is absorbed through the skin and could result in unintended fetal exposure. Their website does not say how long to wait before trying for pregnancy. However, the half-life of dutasteride is 5 weeks and serum concentrations remain detectable for up to 4 to 6 months. Compare that with Propecia, which has a half-life of 4 to 6 hours. The body clears Propecia from the system in just a few days.
I have never seen so many posts by so many totally confused people. Hair loss is due to DHT which has nothing or little effect on muscles. Also the effective dosage depends on your total and free testosterone level and how much is converted to DHT. It will vary based on the person, their age, etc. And several other hormones. Testing has shown effective dosages as low as .1mg.
You will always lose hair - it's normal. You will shed some as the hair growth phases get in synch with the rest of these variables and then taper off. Sexual side effects happen to about 18% of users which is high. Side effects are based on dosage and other hormones. Almost everyone recovers from these sides but it might take a few months. Permanent sides are highly unlikely but are reported unofficially. I'm sure these guys have other things going on like low testosterone. I hope this info helps.
Lump on my breast
I started using this tablet for a month. I got a lump on my breast, It's painful and I can feel it. Is is unusual? Is this something related with this product?
AskDocWeb: It is certainly not typical. We suggest you have your doctor evaluate the lump and discuss your concern about the possible causes.
Danny, I just wondered where u got the 18 danny, where did u get te 18% from? (pretty sure it wasn't merck!) just curious... i really would like to know. Thanx.
Go for hair transplantation
I had transplantation on 12/17/2010. Just before the surgery doctor asked me to take propecia for 3 months and he explained about the sexual drive and 2% of people etc...I refused to take it. I went ahead with the transplantation. I decided to take propecia and use Rogaine at the same time to stimulate my transplanted hair growth. I started on Jan 1st 2011.
For first 3 months I didn't feel anything. Then I started noticing some changes. I felt some numbness in my penis. Even with full erection I could not enjoy the sex. It was like a wooden stick, no sensation nothing. No sexual pleasure at all. Didn't get any pleasure in the climax either. But I still continued hoping that these will go away. BUT NO...THEY DIDN'T!
In next couple of months I totally lost my libido. BUT I NOTICED THE NEW HAIR GROWTH!! I stopped taking it on June first week 2011. IT TOOK ME 4 MONTHS TO GET BACK TO NORMAL (NOT REALLY..I COULD SAY 90%). I am still using Rogaine. I also notice some hair fall after I stopped propecia. So, I din't gain anything out of the drug. It's waste of time, money and mental torture. I still have the $175 pills that I bought from SAM's Club. Don't know what to do with those. SO, MY ADVICE IS, GO FOR HAIR TRANSPLANTATION IF YOU ARE 30% TO 40% BALD. SINCERELY,

Thanx for posting u r about back to normal. gives me some hope. mental torture - yep!
I was prescribed Propecia (generic finasteride) for enlarged prostate. After just 2 months, I experienced sexual side effects. My doctor recommended I continue taking the medication. Now, after 2 years, I can rarely achieve an erection and when I do, it is painful. Semen/ejaculate fluids reduced dramatically and viscosity increased to the thickness of molasses on a winter day. Basically, no output whatsoever and orgasms are painful.
I have quit taking my medication and will schedule an appointment with my NEW internist doctor, since I feel my past doctor was extremely negligent in informing me of sexual side effects and the fact that this will be a permanent condition. In my opinion, the doctor was willfully negligent when he recommended continued medication after being notified that I was having erectile dysfunction/pain that began immediately after I started taking finasteride.
No desire for sex
My husband has taken Propecia for hair loss and the side effects he has suffered have been devastating to both of us. He is a man who has always loved sex but now does not have any desire even with testosterone shots, I have been there and understand the best way I can. I would never love him less or let this cause a problem between us but he is not the same man. He puts so much into our sex life and taking care of me but I love him not matter what. If anyone knows anyway to help him please post back. I just want him to be the same man mentally, that is my fear, that if he can't fix this problem it could literally drive him over the edge.
I am taking Finasteride 1 Mg Per Day since 10 months, I noticed Erectile Dysfunction, Decrease in Semen so I decided to stop drug as soon as possible. What additionally I can do to regain my actual sex power? Secondly, How much time will it take to regain it naturally?
AskDocWeb: Thanks for posting Sid. We've added your report to the ED chart. A urologist may be able to help with the erectile dysfunction. Unfortunately there is not enough data to be able to tell how long it would take to recover naturally.
Effect on prostate
Does the propecia effect the prostate getting smaller if we use regularly? If it is, we can use propecia regularly than..Pls send you answer to my email..Thanks..
AskDocWeb: The active ingredient in Propecia is finasteride, which is also sold as Proscar. The difference is in the amount of finasteride in each product. Propecia contains one milligram of finasteride and Proscar contains five milligrams. Treatment with Proscar reduces the size of the prostate gland, in one study by 17.9%. Since Propecia contains the same active ingredient it is likely to have "some" effect on the prostate. However, at one fifth of the dosage of Proscar, it will not have anywhere near the same effect.
