Subj: It does work
Date: 8/20/2009
I'm 19 years of age and my hair has been thinning since I was 17. It's in my family to lose your hair but me being so young I want to delay it as much as possible. Earlier on this year I ordered a 4 month supply of Provillus capsules. I wasn't a fan of remembering to take 2 every day and with meals but once I got into a routine it was ok. I used the product for 3 months and thought that it was useless so I stopped. It's over a month since I stopped and my hair loss has sped up rapidly. So yes I will start using this product again because it does work.

Subj: Hair growth in other areas?
Date: 8/22/2009
Will this product increase hair growth in other areas, such as unwanted places like the beard, ears, eyebrow? Or is it specifically designed for the scalp?

AskDocWeb: Provillus is specifically designed for the scalp. Use of the topical solution on other areas of the body is not recommended.

Subj: Provillus and Nioxin
Date: 8/25/2009
I just started using Provillus. I hear that Nioxin shampoo and Conditioner works good. Can I use Provillus and Nioxin together? Please suggest.

AskDocWeb: There are not reports of any problems with using other products with Provillus but you should have a closer look at Nioxin. We recommend another hair loss shampoo called Nisim Biofactors

Subj: Hair falling out
Date: 9/5/2009
I have alopecia areata I am 17. It just started 5 months ago, before this I had long healthy hair down my back for 6 six years. I cut it in '08 and had 360 waves that I would get complements on all the time. My hair falling out is giving me a lot of stress that's giving me other health issues. I have ACTs this year and I'm trying to go to ULA. I can't miss days because of doctors visits. If my test scores are low I can't get in ULA or any good college. Will this treatment work for me?

AskDocWeb: Welcome to the community of those with hair loss. The Provillus website says that it works for both men and women. How well it works is what we hope to answer by collecting feedback from those who use it.

Subj: Hair Loss products
Date: 9/16/2009
Actually I was just writing to ask why Provillus isn't listed along with the other Hair Loss products in your navigation on the left. Is this an oversight or intentional?

AskDocWeb: It was just something that we hadn't got around to yet but it is there now.

Subj: Halotest-25 with Provillus
Date: 9/25/2009
I am getting ready to start taking Provillus. But I'm also taking a dietary supplement for building muscle mass called Halotest-25. I was just wondering if it is safe to take them both at the same time?

AskDocWeb: We are not aware of any interactions but if you are subject to drug testing you may want to reconsider the Halotest-25. Although it is legal it may cause a positive drug test result.

Subj: Minoxidil
Date: 10/1/2009
I'm 23 and I used provillus supplements for a few months and felt there was a slight improvement. However, now that I have stopped the hair loss seems to have begun once again. I am considering using the provillus supplements in addition to a minoxidil topical formula. Is this a good idea? If so 2% or 5% minoxidil?

AskDocWeb: The Provillus Complete Solution already includes minoxidil in the topical formula. The 2% formula of minoxidil is for women, men use the 5% formula. The use of 5% minoxidil by women is not recommended due to an increased risk of facial hair growth.

Subj: Photos?
Date: 10/10/2009

AskDocWeb: Have you looked at the Provillus website?

Subj: Weight gain?
Date: 10/21/2009
Does Provillus pills affect gain weight....I am planning n taking the pills but are concerned on major side effest...

AskDocWeb: No, weight gain has not been reported by those taking Provillus.

Subj: Provillus solution in Canada?
Date: 10/25/2009
I live in Canada, I recently purchased the provillus tablets and just found out there is the solution as well, will the tablets cause new hair to grow or will I need some form of the solution?

AskDocWeb: Canada allows importation of Provillus pills but not the Provillus solution, which contains Minoxidil. Unless they have changed regulations recently Minoxidil is available in Canada, but only with a doctor's prescription.

Subj: All natural product?
Date: 10/26/2009
Is provillus an all natural product? if so, is it just as safe as taking a multi-vitamin? I am currently taking biotin in the form of 3000 mcg per tablet, would it be wise to discontue the use this product because provillus has 5 mg of biotin in it? Also, what other reputable competing all natural supplements are there for hair-growth?

AskDocWeb: The Provillus pills are advertised as being all-natural but the liquid topical solution contains Minoxidil, a drug manufactured by Pfizer, Pharmacia & Upjohn, and other pharmaceutical companies.

Biotin is one of the water-soluble B-vitamins and any excess you might take is easily eliminated in urine. There have been no reported cases of Biotin overdose or excess, which is also why no upper limit (UL) or maximum level has been established. There is disagreement among experts about the proper dose of biotin. The U.S. Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Science's Institute of Medicine recommends a daily Adequate Intake (AI) of 30 mcg in adults 19 years and older (a daily AI of 25 mcg is recommended in those ages 14-18 years old). The U.S. Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for biotin is 300 micrograms daily, which is the dose used in many dietary supplements. Toxicity with biotin intake has not been reported in the available literature, and doses as high as 200 mg daily have been used in patients without significant reported toxicity.

Subj: Cloud Nine Regrowth herbal supplements
Date: 11/1/2009
I was wondering about Cloud Nine Regrowth herbal supplements. What is your take on them on how effective they could be and would taking provillus prove to be a better solution?

AskDocWeb: After looking at the Cloud9 ReGrowth herbal hair loss formula, it appears to be a copycat product for Provillus except that they don't have a topical solution with monoxidil in it. As for how effective it might be, there is no feedback from anyone that has used it. We would go with Provillus.

Subj: Provillus together with Rogaine foam?
Date: 11/3/2009
Hi, I was wondering whether could I use Provillus together with Rogaine foam, which contains minoxidil. Would this be ok? Thanks -

AskDocWeb: We don't see any problem with using just the Provillus pills together with Rogaine foam but Provillus serum and Rogaine foam both contain minoxidil. Using the serum and foam together is likely to irritate the scalp.

Subj: Provillus with Dutasteride?
Date: 11/6/2009
Hi I have been using Dutasteride for 5 years and 5 % Minoxidil for 15 years prior to that. I still have most of my hair but I am losing a little around the temples I would like to use Provillus in conjunction with Dutasteride so that I can assess its effectivenes. I am 72 years old. Can the two produts be used together? Regards

AskDocWeb: There are no drug interactions listed on the Provillus website. All they say is that for medical questions you should contact your physician or doctor.

Subj: Noticing hair regrowth
Date: 11/8/2009
I am a 30 year old female who has been using Provillus for 6 months and have seen positive results. After 2 months of consistently taking the supplement and using the liquid on my scalp I started noticing hair regrowth. Now I have 2-3 inch hair regrowth all over my head. I have found that I need to wash my hair everyday otherwise the buildup gives me dandruff and makes my scalp itch. Other than that I am happy with the product.

Subj: Hair shedding
Date: 11/11/2009
I took provillus dietary supplement about 3 weeks (I didn't take minoxidil 5%) and I noticed that I have seen lot of hair shedding from my front potion of my scalp, and now I stopped it. Will I get recover from the situation? and will the new hair regrow again?

AskDocWeb: While collecting feedback about hair loss products we have noticed that an initial period of shedding is reported to occur with a small percentage of people who use these products. So far this is true for every hair loss product. Why this happens is unknown. There is no way to know how much hair will grow back after going through a shedding phase like this but in most cases it does grow back.

Subj: Better then nothing
Date: 11/23/2009
Hello, today 11/23/09 I'm starting my provillus treatment, my main concern is reciding hair line at the front I know there is no treatment for that problem but provillus is better then nothing. I will keep you update once a month good Luck.

AskDocWeb: Thanks Eddie, keep us posted, and good luck.

Subj: Affect of Provillus on transplanted hair
Date: 11/25/2009
Hi! I had a hair transplant 3 years ago, then I wear hat all the time. My hair stop growing. If I take Provillus now, will it affect the hair that I transplant?

AskDocWeb: So far there isn't enough feedback from those who have both had a transplant, and are using Provillus, to judge how well that would work. Hopefully you will be able to share your experience here.

Read more feedback.
