I have been on Minocin and Aldactone and the oiliness/acne are gone. The hyperplasia, though, did not completely go away even with liquid nitro freezing. Would using Renova help diminish this? Or would I use Retin-A?? If not, what would? Thanks. Debra AskDocWeb: Sebaceous hyperplasia is a common condition of sebaceous glands typically in adults of middle age or older. It is simply an enlargement of the skin's oil glands. The lesions of sebaceous hyperplasia are benign with no known potential for malignant transformation. Although sebaceous hyperplasia is harmless individual lesions may be removed by cauterization, electrodesiccation, light cautery, diathermy, and most effectively, with laser vaporization therapy. Subj: Renova on neck? Date: 11/22/2009 Is it okay to use Renova on your neck also? Carolyn AskDocWeb: Renova is approved for use only on the face. Subj: Worse before it gets better? Date: 12/3/2009 I started to use Renova .02% in late October. I began with every night. Went to every other night because of the burning. I used creme on my face....very small amount because I am frugal...I noticed that my make-up was causing my under eye lines to look more pronounced. I did not realize it at the time, but I was beginning to swell. I stopped using the product over a week ago. Moisturizers burned and my make-up burned. I now have red, dry spots under my eyes (the skin is actually hard) in addition to the swelling. I also feel as though the fine lines I had appear more prominent than before. Can this product cause lines to be worse? Will this hard skin go away? My doctor told me to discontinue use (which I already did) and to use Cort-Aid on the swelling. When you say that the condition of the skin will get worse before it gets better, is this what you are talking about? I am concerned that I have permanently damaged my skin. Doctor also suggest I mix Renova with moisturizer when I start back up. What do you think? I thought this would lessen the effectives of the Renova. Joanne AskDocWeb: There are no reports of any permanent skin damage from using Renova. Mixing Renova with a moisturizer will lesson the effectiveness but it will also reduce the skin irritation, which is what you want. This will give your skin more time to become accustomed to it. Subj: Instructions for the Renova Date: 12/12/2009 My dermatologist gave me presc. for Renova and I had some health issues and now I am well. My problem is that I have lost the instructions for the Renova. Could you possibly send me as much as possible so I can get started with it. Thanks so much. Cecile AskDocWeb: Your pharmacist should be happy to give you a copy of the instructions.
