I began using Vaniqa a few months ago and did not relate its use to thinning and hair loss that began at the same time. When I connected the dots, I stopped the Vaniqa (about a month ago), but so far, there's been no improvement in the hair on my head. Is it going to re-grow? How long does it take for the Vaniqa to get out of my system? So far, my facial hair has not regrown either.
AskDocWeb: Since the half-life of Vaniqa is about 8 hours it takes the body just over a day and a half to completely eliminate it from your system. However, changes in your scalp that affect hair growth typically occur slowly over sever weeks and may take several weeks to resolve.
Use Vaniqa on other parts of the body?
Can vaniqa be used elsewhere on the body? And if not, can anybody tell me why not? I am using it on my face and neck and want to extend this.
AskDocWeb: At this time Vaniqa has been approved for use only on the face and chin. More studies are needed to show what affect it has on other parts of the body and whether or not that would be safe.
Head hair loss?
I am seriously considering using Vaniqa but I've heard that it can cause head hair loss, is that true? I have PCOS and experience extremely excessive hair growth. Is there a way to combat the loss of hair on my head?
AskDocWeb: Most people don't have that problem. Only a small percentage of those using Vaniqa suffer with hair loss from the scalp; the package insert says 0.5 to 1.5%, drugs.com says 1.5% to 2.5%. Either way the odds are in your favor.
Waiting on results
I am trying. Today is first first day. I am sick of shaving daily. My self esteem is not where it use to be because of the hair growth. I do have thyroid issues which cause hair growth and having testosterone tested. Waiting on results. Fingers crossed. .......
I have only been using vaniqua for about 4 weeks after chemotherapy and hormone therapy my facial hair grow thicker and longer. But now my eyelashes are falling and I only have a few left, quite traumatic after only getting them back after chemo. I won't b using vaniqua again.
My hair is thinning
I have been using Vaniqa for 3 weeks and my hair is thinning. It has worked on my facial hair but at what cost? I am a scientist so I am going to approach this scientifically. I am stopping Vaniqa now, changing nothing else, and I will report back in one month.
AskDocWeb: Thanks Baltimore, we look forward to your report.
Losing hair from head
I have been using vaniqa cream for about 3 years now. Had fantastic results but over the last year have been losing a lot of hair from head. Unfortunately have lost half my hair now and I'm devastated. Am now wondering if I stop using it will my hair grow back?
AskDocWeb: Unfortunately there are too many unknowns; amount used, frequency of application, cause of hair loss, etc. to answer that question. If you stop using this hair growth inhibitor, it may take three to six months to notice a difference in hair growth on the scalp.
Remove hair before applying?
Is it must to remove hair before applying this vaniqa cream.
AskDocWeb: Vaniqa doesn't remove hair and it is not meant to be used alone. The directions say to use it in conjunction with any hair removal technique already being used.
i want to know the current price of vaniqa n from where it is easily available like which country....thank u
AskDocWeb: Sorry Sufia, keeping track of the availability and price of Vaniqa worldwide is beyond the scope of this website. If you call your local pharmacist you may find it's available locally.
I just want to say that I have been using this B.S. for the last 4 to 5 years and if u are African American then it won't work.
Where to get vaniqa cream
I live in South Africa and cant get this product. I have been to may phamacies they dont have vaniqa cream. Where can I get it? I am in Johannebsurg
AskDocWeb: If it is not available locally then you may need to find out if you can import it from another country. Try contacting Customs officials to find out if importing Vaniqa would be legal, and do that before ordering it online.
After using Vaniqa for a year it did work as they claim, but it also made me lose hair on my head so I stopped using it. I reported this side effects to the FDA. (http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm). Allergan should be listing this as a side effect.
Headaches from off label use?
I have been using this for about six weeks and have already noticed a dramatic reduction in the growth rate of my extremely unwanted facial/neck hair. I have also been using it on my upper chest, which I understand is not recommended. One problem- I have been getting a persistent, unusual feeling headache lately. Can anyone tell me if this headache may eventually go away with time? Could it be that I'm 'overdosing' by using it on my chest? For the last few days I've cut my application to once a day to avoid the worst of the headaches. Anyone have any insight?
AskDocWeb: Using it on your chest would be considered off-label use, which puts you at risk for unknown side effects.
