Subj: How much do people lose?
Date: 11/19/2010
I'm a 31yr old female who is 5'7 and weighs 265. Today was my second day on Xenical. I want to lose 80 lbs. On average how much do people lose in a week? In a month? while taking the pill 3x a day, eating healthier and exercising regularly.
Nancy

AskDocWeb: The amount of weight you lose per week will vary over time but many people lose 3 to 5 pounds a week. There are a number of clinical trials that conclude Xenical could help you lose about 10% of your total body weight in a year. About 40% of people who use Xenical and follow a low-calorie diet lose more than 10% of their body weight.

Subj: Gained weight
Date: 11/29/2010
xnecial taking it 2 weeks and have gained weight. Very upset!
Lilly

AskDocWeb: Don't be shy about letting your doctor know how things are going. It is common to have to adjust either the dosage or the treatment along the way in a weight loss program.

Subj: Orange stool
Date: 12/11/2010
Hello I have been taking xenical 120mg for the last 2 weeks. I have noticed when I go to the toilet I have had a orange coloured dischared when I have wiped my self down. Can you please shed some light on this matter? Is it a natural occurrence or is it a side affect? Yours hope full,
Jan

AskDocWeb: Xenical blocks the fat you eat from being absorbed during digestion and it passes through your body undigested. That's what produces the orange stools. And the more fat you eat, the more likely you are to have accidents with those orange stools turning your underwear orange. Be careful!

Subj: Mirena IUD?
Date: 12/17/2010
I have taken xenical before and have always gotten great results from it and this year I decided to try it again cause I gained 20 pounds which I believe is a result from the mirena IUD I am on my third pack of xenical and have not lost any weight so my question is does xenical not work with the mirena IUD?
Deb

AskDocWeb: The Xenical website does not mention any interaction with any birth control. However, if it isn't working then check back with the prescribing doctor.

Subj: Immune system
Date: 12/17/2010
How does valtrax hurt my immune system in the long run?? If I take it everyday for suppressant ... I don't have any other disease but I think my immune system is weak because I catch cold often. Please advise long term effects of daily use of valtrax thanks
Nancy

AskDocWeb: According to the Merck Online Manuals about 18% of those taking Valtrex experience neutropenia, a blood disorder characterized by a decreased number of white blood cells. This often results in a weakened immune system, making the patients more susceptible to other viral and bacterial infections and increases wound healing time.

Subj: Sleep?
Date: 1/9/2011
Will star taking the product, just want to know about the sleep?
Muengayi

AskDocWeb: Sleep problems are unlikely but if it should occur, talk to your doctor.

Subj: Burning Mouth Syndrome?
Date: 1/24/2011
Do you know if Xenical has been linked to Burning Mouth Syndrome?
Hope

AskDocWeb: Although a few prescription drugs have been associated with Burning Mouth Syndrome Xenical is not one of them.

Subj: Goiter
Date: 1/25/2011
i'm scared use xenical because i have goiter.. should i use it?
donna

AskDocWeb: Just because you have goiter does NOT necessarily rule out the use of Xenical. However, it is essential to inform your doctor if you take thyroid medications or suffer from any type of thyroid problem; goiters, thyroid cancer, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, or thyroiditis, before taking Xenical for weight loss. The health care provider needs to monitor thyroid function during treatment with Xenical in order to adjust the dosage if required. It is also recommended that you maintain a gap of four hours between your thyroid medications and Xenical to avoid potential drug interactions.

Subj: No gall bladder
Date: 2/4/2011
I had my gall bladder removed 16 years ago. Can I take this medicine?
Sharda

AskDocWeb: For some people this may be a problem that requires special monitoring and may or may not exclude the use of Xenical. Be sure the doctor that prescribes your Xenical knows that your gall bladder has been removed.

Subj: How over weight do you have to be?
Date: 2/15/2011
How over weight do you have to be to take xenical i am currently 60 lbs over weight i am normally 120 but after having my daughter two years ago i weigh 180.
Jessi

AskDocWeb: In general if your BMI is 30 or more then you qualify, or if you have other medical problems you may be able to use it if your BMI is over 27.

Subj: Xenical works!
Date: 2/23/2011
It works lost 10lb 3.5 weeks started end of Jan 2011, adverse side effects like anal leakage must only happen if you eat shed loads of fatty foods and lets face it you're not really trying to help yourself if you are not prepared to change your eating habits. Clearly working the occasional abdominal discomfort with movements is a small price to pay for increased weight loss combining with low carb diet. If you take responsibly with 30% fat limit you will lose weight .....if you are offered it on prescription bite your Drs hand off!! Or DONT TAKE IT AND CHOOSE to stay FAT and stop moaning!..... THIS WORKS!
Claire

I on a very low calorie diet, just fruits in the morning and lunch, and vegetable and meet at dinner. I want to loose 18 pounds, cause I am 136 pounds and 5Ž1. I read all the comments and I am desperate to loose those pounds. I want to know if this product is working for me?. Also I am using the real product. Thanks
Raquel

AskDocWeb: The side effects of Xenical typically don't occur unless you eat too much fat. Your BMI is 26, which means that you are at increased risk for a variety of illnesses at your present weight. According to the Panel on Energy, Obesity, and Body Weight Standards published by American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, you should lose the weight by changing your diet and exercising more.

Subj: Gallbladder problems
Date: 3/21/2011
I started using Xenical about a year ago. At roughly the same time I started getting similar affect to gallstones. Similar sort of pain. I went for an ultrasound and my gallbladder now doesn't work at all and it is full of "sludge". While using Xenical I always knew when I was due a toilet visit because I used to get a warm sensation. I now constantly have the warm sensation and my gallbladder is due for removal in a month or so. Absolutely no coincidence as far as I am concerned.
Richard

Subj: No side effects?
Date: 3/27/2011
I have been taking Xenical for a week now and have not suffered any side effects at all. Do every one suffer side effects?
leanne

AskDocWeb: Not everyone who take Xenical will experience side effects. On the contrary, most people experience no side effects. Here are the most common ones along with the percentage of people who experience these side effects:
  • Oily Spotting: 26.6
  • Flatulence with Oily Discharge: 23.9
  • Fecal Urgency: 22.1
  • Fatty/Oily Stool: 20.0
  • Oily Evacuation: 11.9
  • Increased Defecation: 10.8
  • Fecal Incontinence: 7.7
Most of the above are reasons for you to carry an extra pair of underwear wherever you go. The undigested fat that passes through your body acts as a lubricant that makes stools hard to control.

Subj: Is Xenical working if there are no side effects?
Date: 4/1/2011
hi there! i start xenical 2 days ago and dont feel any of the side effect like the oily stool and stuff. i need to know if its working for me? And if the xenical will take action even if my weight is 120 kg? Is 1 pill enough before a meal?
Simon

AskDocWeb: The side effect may not show up at all if your are following the directions about keeping your fat intake below 30%. It does NOT change your appetite. It blocks absorption of dietary fat into your bloodstream, which reduces the number of calories you get from a meal. At the usual dosage level, it cuts fat absorption by almost one-third. According to the Physician's Desk Reference the recommended dosage of Xenical is 120 mg three times a day but you will have to check with your doctor to find out the appropriate dosage for your situation.

Subj: I want to start a family
Date: 4/21/2011
hi am taking xenical tablet an am just asking I want to start a family an how long when I stop taking the tablet can I get pregnant please as I really want kids.
Margaret

AskDocWeb: That has not been established. The manufacturer recommends that Xenical should not be used in women who are trying to get pregnant.

Subj: Nasty side effects
Date: 5/5/2011
Not that it really matters a great deal once it works but I cant help wondering how much is actually down to Xenical working in terms of weight loss when you follow a low fat diet whilst on it...maybe you would loose weight on a low fat diet alone anyway without xenical but that xenical just helps you stay on track because of the nasty side effects?
Lilly

AskDocWeb: A low fat diet does produce some weight loss but not as much as when it is combined with Xenical. And you have to admit that the side effects are VERY motivational.
