Subj: Felt funny on Adipex
Date: 9/27/2006
I used adipex for 1 week, not sure if I lost any weight, definitely felt funny. Since I stopped taking it 5 days ago I have been extremely lethargic, can’t get up in the mornings and generally have no energy. Not sure if it is because of the pills or if I am coming down with something. Wanting to try again, maybe at a half a pill a day, but not sure if I should. What do ya’ll think?

Unsure

AskDocWeb: We think you should talk to a doctor before continuing.

Subj: Adipex freak out
Date: 9/28/2006
Adipex Good weight loss, but turns me into a super asshole. Especially with my wife and kids. Teens can be an irritant but I literally freak out, screaming at them for little stupid things. Take out trash, having to repeat myself, etc.

Alan

AskDocWeb: For some people, the cost of Adipex in side effects like that are just too high. Too much of that and you start damaging your relationships. We suggest you talk to your doctor about an alternative weight loss product that will allow you to keep your relationships on good terms.

Subj: lost 30 pounds
Date: 9/29/2006
I just finished taking adipex, I lost 30 pounds in about 2-3months. I wanted to use it as a boost to get me started. Although I was not hungry I ate BUT I changed my eating habits.(low fat…Grain Bread water, water, water!) And the weight just fell off. Now it is two weeks since I have been off and I am doing fine. No weight gain. I walk and watch what I eat. You have to change your eating habits or you will not loose and gain it all back. Since I was not hungry it was easier to change how and what I ate. I used it for 90 days so it would give me time to change what I need to change. I am glad I used Adipex and would do it again. Hopefully I won’t need to!

Allison

AskDocWeb: Way to go Allison, congratulations!

Subj: Hormone replacement therapy
Date: 10/1/2006
Is it safe to take adipex with hormone replacement therapy?

Kay

AskDocWeb: We didn’t find anything to contraindicate that but only your personal physician can answer for sure.

Subj: Adipex affects
Date: 10/4/2006
What is the maximum recommended dosage and length of time for use? Are blood clots documented side effects? I have been on 37.5 adipex for 12 weeks and lost 31 pounds…I was 46 pounds over recommended weight level for age and gender. I drink propel and regular bottled water to keep hydrated. I take breaks or spread it out. I have taken 51 pills over this period (84 days). The energy is great and has enabled me to be more active. I also changed my eating habits (more protein, more fiber, less carbs and less sugar). I am afraid of putting weight back on. My doctor said if I do not exceed the calorie intake for my improved weight, I should keep it off…except for 5-8lbs of water weight I may regain. Has this been the result of others? My friend gained weight back, but she fell back to old eating habits.

Es

AskDocWeb: Yes, that has been the typical result. If you maintain your diet and exercise you can keep it off. There was no mention of blood clots.

Subj: At a standstill
Date: 10/4/2006
I have been on adipex for about 3 weeks. In the first 2 weeks I lost six pounds and now I am at a standstill. Also, I have noticed a change in mood. I feel very irritable and very distant. I don’t plan to take them anymore.

Not so sure

Subj: High blood pressure
Date: 10/12/2006
Hi, I am on 100mg toprol for high blood pressure would it be safe to take adipex I need to lose about 25 pounds

Anthony

AskDocWeb: No, being 25 pounds overweight isn’t enough to qualify you to be on adipex.

Subj: Buy Adipex
Date: 11/10/2006
I want to buy Adipex…want to know if it comes on Trial period or not.

Garima

AskDocWeb: Fist you consult with your doctor about diet and exercise with the use of Adipex. He will give you an examination to determine if you should be on Adipex. If your doctor writes a prescription, you can ask if there are any free samples available. The drug companies often provide these free of charge to physician.

Subj: Constant spotting
Date: 11/11/2006
I have been on Adipex for about a month now and I must say this pill definitely cuts your appetite. So far I have lost 11 lbs. and I am proud of myself. However, it seemed to have messed with my menstrual cycle(constant spotting) and I am on birth control pills (Alesse). My doctor says it was due to the rapid weight loss-not the Adipex itself. Could this be true? Can this constant spotting harm my body? And lastly, does this side effect eventually go away?

Curious

AskDocWeb: Yes, this is true, but we can’t say whether it will go a way or not because everyone is different and reactions vary to medications. It will, however, stop when you discontinue the drug.

Subj: Phyto shape for weight loss
Date: 11/13/2006
Asking about phyto shape for weight loss.

Abeer

AskDocWeb: We have a problem with companies that say that they use FDA approved herbs. There is no such thing as FDA approved herbs, they deal with food and drugs, not herbs. If they were located in the USA instead of Malaysia the FDA would shut them down.

Subj: Loved Adipex
Date: 11/13/2006
I was on Adipex for about 2 weeks and lost over 10lbs. I really loved it. Then, I broke out with a rash, but all my doctors said it wasn’t the pills. The rash is clearing up and I plan to start right back after the good reviews.

Subj: Not loosing weight
Date: 11/20/2006
My doctor prescribed Adipex to me about a month ago. I take 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 before lunch. I have not lost ANY weight at all! I don’t eat nearly as much and I drink lots of water. I am concerned about the fact that the weight is not coming off. Before beginning Adipex, I would have probably lost at least a few pounds just from drinking so much water and cutting out diet sodas. Why is this drug not working for me? Do many people experience this same problem?

Brook

AskDocWeb: You left out the exercise, that is a necessary part of the weight loss program. Consult with your doctor about what you can do to make this work.

Subj: How to get Adipex?
Date: 11/26/2006
How do I get adipex? I am 25 and had a baby a year and a half ago and gained 70 pounds and just can’t lose. Do you think my doctor will give it to me? If not dose any one know how I can get it without a rx? What should I pay for it?

holly

AskDocWeb: Your doctor will only prescribe Adipex if it is safe and appropriate for you to use this drug. Your blood pressure may need to be monitored.

Subj: Not over weight
Date: 11/28/2006
I have been using adipex for about 2 weeks I have lost 8 pounds. But I’m scared I’m not over weight. I’m 5 ft 6 in and weigh 130. I want to get to 120 is that ok? I mean if your aren’t over weight can you take them?

Jackie

AskDocWeb: No, you are not suppose to take them unless your body mass index (BMI) is over 30.

Subj: Worried
Date: 11/30/2006
I took first adipex pill today, wou, I’ve been working out easily for 2 hours, but I have bad mood changes now. I don’t like it that much. I’m also afraid that price of weightloss is too high (I mean my physical condition). Am I going to have some problems with studying and concentration, thus, I have exam next week. I’m quite worried.

Gita

AskDocWeb: If you’re worried, don’t take it. This is a legitimate concern. With the mood changes, you may not be able to concentrate on your studies the way you normally would.

Subj: Product is awesome
Date: 12/7/2006
People who say it doesn’t work prob. doesn’t exercise reg. Exercise is an important part of it. It is a diet supplement. So it will not work alone. if you cannot exercise don’t take any drugs. This pill works great. Haven’t had a body like this since high school. People can’t believe I have 2 young kids. EXERCISE COUNTS!

Angela

Subj: This pill works wonderfully
Date: 12/13/2006
I’ve tried Adipex twice, once about 6 years ago and just last year. Last year, I lost 7 pounds a month, for three months straight. This pill works wonderfully for me – I would recommend it to anyone who wants to lose at least 20 pounds. I had no side effects.

Jo

Subj: Lost 40 pounds but…
Date: 12/13/2006
I was prescribed Adipex for weight loss about 18 months ago. I stayed on it for 2 1/2 months and lost approx. 40lbs. The majority of my weight loss was in the first six weeks and then the results tapered off. I have gained back about 12 pounds and I’m still overweight so, I am trying them again for a jump-start. My biggest recommendation would be only take these pills for three months max, and when you aren’t feeling the affects as much, stop…don’t increase your dosage. They can be habit forming and I experienced some moderate withdraw the first week or so after I stopped taking them (tired, grumpy, general lack of energy) but it was mild. I know people who just take more and more and it’s not effective, just habit forming. I think like any med, you must use it responsibly and with a plan for diet and exercise modifications.

Debbie

Subj: Lose 15 pounds?
Date: 12/13/2006
I took my first pill today… So far I feel great. I’m a little jittery but nothing that is making me uncomfortable. I barely have an appetite but I made myself eat. I have drank tons of water all day. So far so good. I’m 5’4 and 130 my goal weight is 115. My doc will only give me a month’s worth. He only gave them to me in the first place because I told him if he didn’t then I would order them from the Internet and he did not want me to do that. How long do you think it will take to lose the 15 pounds? I exercise 5 times a week, 45 minutes of cardio.

Laura

AskDocWeb: You need to be careful not to lose weight too fast. If you lose more than a pound a day, you run the risk of losing muscle mass along with the fat. We consider losing a pound a day as optimum.

Subj: Adipex is amazing
Date: 12/15/2006
I started adipex November 15th. Today is December 15th. Amazingly. with no exercise, cheating now and again and several skipped pills (I kinda wanna sleep on weekends) I have still managed to go from 214 to 202. I’ve lost a total of 12 lbs in LESS than a month. WOW! I do experience dry mouth, but that just means I’m not drinking enough water. I can’t sleep many nights, but it’s worth it! Month 2 starts tomorrow and I will include 2 days a week of cardio… Look out Beyonce’!

Subj: Results have been very good
Date: 12/20/2006
I am a 40 year old male, 6’0″ and a starting weight of 260. Beginning on 12/4 I began a regimen of 30 37.5mg Adipex. In addition my doctor gave me a B12 shot in the upper arm. The results have been very good. I have lost around 17lbs to date, and expect to lose around 8-10 more as I finish up the 30. Because I am forgetful, I started by taking it the first day at 4pm (rather then in the am), and then bicycling home. Although the Adipex made me spacy that day I survived the ride, and gradually began moving the time I took it back, until I was taking it before lunch. I found that the earlier I took it the worse I performed at work in the afternoon, and so I decided to move the time forward again to 4pm, which has not had any adverse impact on my sleep. Taking Adipex has made me spectacularly thirsty. Especially the first week I was never found without a glass of water in my hand. Of course that meant urinating all the time as well. I have experienced several corollary benefits from this experience, which may or may not be attributable to Adipex. This includes clearing up hemorrhoids, eliminating flatulence, and eliminating an embarrassing leakage from my anus. Although I have only lost 17lbs (putting me at 243, which I last weighed in 2002) I feel substantially better then I did then, with more wind, and more strength. With my appetite neutralized I am able to make smarter choices about what I eat and when, and feel that with these experiences in hand I will better be able to manage how and when eat.
