Subj: Pros and cons
Date: 6/10/2004
I have been using adipex for about 1 month I have lost 15 pounds. That’s 20 pounds from my goal.
Pros: don’t eat as much so I don’t feel guilty, and I am losing weight.
Cons:I have headaches on a regular basis, and I’m not falling asleep very easily. Which makes me very tired and irritable. I have to skip doses sometimes so I can get some sleep.

Subj: Extremely fatigued
Date: 6/11/2004
I’ve used Adipex twice, and both times after I stopped taking I was extremely fatigued for several days. The first time I took it for 8 days then I stopped, and I felt confused, disorientated, tired flu like symptoms, couldn’t concentrate, and the symptoms were worse by the 4th day after I quit taking it, but after about a week I could feel the negative effects wearing off. Last week I took Adipex for 2 days and lost 4 lbs in 2 days, but once again I’m feeling extremely fatigued and run down to the point where I can’t accomplish anything. Has anyone else experienced this when they stop taking it?

Subj: Adipex really helped
Date: 9/16/2004
I have been on Adipex for 3 weeks now and have lost 11 pounds. This pill has helped me to see how much I was really eating before. Now I could maintain my healthy lifestyle without it because I have learned how to control my eating. I’m going to the gym 3-4 times a week, never eating after 7pm, and drinking lots of water. My body shape has changed before my eyes! The only side effect I have had is severe dry mouth. I can’t get enough water. But I can handle that until I reach my goal of losing 20 punds!

Subj: $10 a pound
Date: 9/21/2004
I’ve used adipex for nearly a month now. I’ve lost a whopping 7 pounds. Considering the price of the prescription, that’s $10 a pound. NOT worth it by any means. Does nothing to curb my appetite. Save your money!

Subj: Gain back twice the weight
Date: 9/22/2004
I have taken adipex off and on for about 5 years now, the only down fall to this drug is once you come off of it you gain twice as much weight back, your mood swings are almost uncontrollable, and pretty soon after taking them for a while they stop working in your body all together.

Subj: Lost 114 pounds
Date: 10/1/2004
When I first started taking adipex the first month I lost almost 25lbs this came from drinking lots of water and intensive exercise or working.. I’ve never sweated so much in my life guess that’s how that fell off. But when I first started I weighed over 330lbs to this day I weigh 216lbs my goal is to get down to 180lbs My doctor has keep me on this medication for about 2 years now he’s even doubled my dosage but the stuff works best within the first 6 to 8 months from when you start taking it or it did for me anyway, but now I face a new problem with taking this medication. I can’t go more than a day with out it, it makes my head hurt really bad when I do and I get really irritable.. The worst side effect from taking this medication for guys is the fact it makes it hard to get an erection. Oddly the medication makes something not work as it should in that area. Unless you are an obese person I wouldn’t recommend taking the stuff. I’m happy with my results from it none the less, but still mentally I’m not in away. Take this stuff long enough and you’ll get to where you hate it but yet like it at the same time.

Subj: Adipex is making a big difference
Date: 12/9/2004
I’ve been taking adipex for 4 days now and I have noticed a big difference in my appetite. I don’t crave sweets around 2:00 ever afternoon, usually I get really strong cravings to snack, I don’t now. The side effects are kinda bad, the first night I tossed and turned all night, but that stopped after the first night. I am EXTREMELY irritable, I could literally bite my husbands head off. My kids probably think some alien has taken over their mother’s body. I don’t know if I’ve lost any weight but I’m definitely eating less. I don’t feel jittery or nervous. I would like to know why this drug is NOT recommended for people without a BMI of over 25. I believe the reason to be because it can actually slow your metabolism in the long run, but I’m not sure. If anybody knows please let me know.

Subj: Going off Adipex
Date: 12/29/2004
I was on Adipex for 10 months, I lost 38 pounds. I stop taking the medication, to control my weight on my own. I started with 1/2 tablet then 1 tablet. I decided myself to cut back to 1/2 tablet then, every other day then nothing. I feel very tired during the day, I am on a multivitamin daily and a calcium tablet daily. I stop going to see the MD that prescribed the medication because I don’t want him to convince me to go back on the medication because I don’t want to be dependent on medication any more. I am hoping with time that my system will be normal again. I have to take a nap everyday and sometime I take 2 naps a day. I exercise 3 times a week, my blood pressure has gone up, from 110/70 to 138/88 I never had high blood pressure before I started on the medication and now I do. I don’t eat fatty foods nor do I fry my food. I will consult the MD that prescribed the medication and get his advice but I refuse to continue the medication. The medication decrease my appetite for the following foods: meat, some sweets, the amount I eat. My thoughts have change in the way I think about food now (I think less about food) and the need to eat when I am alone, bored, stressed or tired. Thanks,
P.C
Subj: Blood clots and Adipex
Date: 1/13/2005
I have been taking adipex for about three weeks now and walking on the treadmill for about 25 to 40 minutes everyday. I lost about 8 pounds the first week and 1/2 but since then I have not lost a pound. I also eat a lot healthier now, still the weight won’t move. I began having a pain in my lower left leg muscle and I called the doctor today. He wants me to come in because one side effect is blood clots and he wants to check me for that. BLOOD CLOTS scare me. One reason I am wanting to lose weight is so that I will be healthier for myself and children. If I get a blood clot from adipex and die or have problems with the blood clot, it is not worth it. If anyone has some suggestions besides the ‘norm’ for losing weight the old fashion way, please let me know. Please pray for me. Very disappointed and deathly scared!!

Subj: Pimple with Adipex
Date: 1/21/2005
I have been on this pill (Adipex) for about 3 months and have not had a break in between. Now I know you are told to cycle but I did not have time. This is a great little pill and I have lost much body fat. The only issue that I have is that I have this big, fat pimple on the side of my nose. It was not there before I started using but now it is. Should I stop using or keep on going until I reach my goal which is 115pounds ? or should I cycle in between? and maybe the pimple might go away.
Emily
AskDocWeb: That pimple may or may not be related to your taking Adipex. I suggest you follow your doctor’s advice because he, or she, is familiar with your skin type, condition and medical history.
Subj: Didrex success story
Date: 1/24/2005
I took adipex for a month and it helped me to change my attitude about exercise. I started out walking 1 mile a day and worked up to 5 miles currently. I lost 13 lbs. with it. I then continued walking this last 5 months and have now lost a total of 45 lbs. I have 15 more I wish to lose and am at a standstill so I am going to try adipex again to get me a boost. If I lose these last 15 I will be at the weight I was 11 years ago before the birth of my son. I highly recommend it!

Subj: Any suggestions?
Date: 2/6/2005
I have had great success with adipex, however I have built up a tolerance to it. I still have about 30lbs I would like to use. Any suggestions?
Tahoe
AskDocWeb: Just 3, get more exercise, pay more attention to eating foods that you know are good for you and avoid the foods that you know are not good for you.
Subj: Adipex is not worth it
Date: 2/9/2005
I used Adipex about a year ago, and while on it, I do have to say that I lost quite a bit of weight and very quickly too, which I’m sure is what everybody is looking for, however, even though I lost the weight soooooo fast, it was not worth it. This particular drug is bad news! my pharmacist told me that it makes your heart beat almost 5 times faster then ephedra, which sounds pretty dangerous to me, and my experience with it was no good. I’ve never been that bad off in my life, its extreamly unhealthy for you, and I totally felt like I was on “Crystal” It’s sooo bad, no wonder why it works so good and so fast. Any drug dealer can sell you something on the corner that does the same thing for you and its probably cheaper. Since I stopped taking it I HAVE GAINED 60 POUNDS BACK VERY QUICKLY TOO, Its not worth it, this pill is nothing more that a “DRUG ” It will leave you bigger and fatter than you were when you started…..
Sonia
AskDocWeb: There are also health concerns with Ephedra.
Subj: Adipex has me sleepy
Date: 2/22/2005
This medication has me sleepy and my head hurts. Today is my first day and I am about to fall in the floor. I can not wait to get home so I can rest. I hope these side effects go away after the first week. I am so sleepy!
AskDocWeb: Sounds like you might have low blood pressure. Better have it checked by a nurse at your doctor’s office.
Subj: Works wonders
Date: 2/28/2005
So far so good. I’ve used adipex before and it sheds off the pounds. But it also works wonders if you exercise with it along with the shake supplements. The only down fall for me is the mood swings! At first I thought because it was around that time of the month…that was the reason. BUT…it wasn’t. It’s not as bad as it seems. Just little things get on your nerves a little bit quicker than usual. Good Luck To Yah!

AskDocWeb: A few people have noted this side effect when using Adipex but it is only temporary and the libido comes back when the drug is discontinued.
Subj: Adipex is working
Date: 3/10/2005
I have been on adipex for only three days now. Already I have had no desire to pig out on my favorite snacks. There has been a major cut back on all my meals. I’m mostly thirsty and the only thing I’m drinking is water…

Subj: Thrilled with Adipex
Date: 3/17/2005
I have been using adipex for exactly one month today. At my official weigh-in today, I’ve lost 15 pounds. I think this stuff is amazing!!! I have energy to do anything I want with absolutely no jitters. The only side effects that I have encountered are dry mouth and constipation (which are both my fault). You definitely need to drink water while you are taking this medication. But other than that…I am thrilled!!! I don’t crave junk food at all! I can’t and don’t overeat. I think everyone should give it a shot.

AskDocWeb: Congratulations!

Question: Does anyone know if Adipex will affect your libido at all? Thanks,
Amanda
