Subj: Harsh side effects
Date: 7/10/2009
I’m on day two of Adipex. I find the side effects harsh, for me, I yawn a lot, my concentration isn’t great, I don’t like driving on it. But, I hear this goes away in a week so I am sticking it out. I need to drop 40 pounds and I’ve been so uncomfortable with my weight, I am willing to try this out. I do feel a lot more tired on this, I have the rush from the drug but it I do not have anymore energy, which is kind’a weird. Maybe my body needs to adjust. I’m checking that out now.

Subj: Adipex review
Date: 7/10/2009
I am very pissed with the response of Adipex. There was a time when I used corner store products like go-go pills, and yellowjackets with ephedra in it and got kick ass results without exercise. I was told that Adipex would do the same thing, and for two weeks I’m still fat. Not one pound gone. I feel I eat less, but that all. I hate this stuff because it is not made for people who have high tolerance for mediation and for those who want to lose weight without the headache of exercising.
Renee
AskDocWeb: Herbs such as ephedra also have side effects.
Subj: I gained the weight back plus some
Date: 7/20/2009
I used phetermine before along with a water pill & a b12 shot and it worked great but after I stopped taking it I gained the weight back plus some now a year later I started taking adipex & I’ve been taking it for a week & I feel the side effects of being tired not really wanting to do anythhing how long does it take for the side effects to subside & for me to be able to get motivated to excersise? Will I gain the weight back after I stop taking it? Also why does it seem different this time of taking it as it did when I took it a year ago?
Jen
AskDocWeb: As with all anoretics or anorexigenic drugs, the body has a tendency to build up a tolerance for the drug and over time it will lose effectiveness. That is why they are recommended only for short-term use. It is sometimes helpful to think of them as a crutch. Something that helps you through the transition from your old self to the self that is in control of your weight. That transition period is when you make lifestyle changes to your eating habits and activity level. If you don’t make those lifestyle changes then you will gain all the weight back when you stop using the drug or your body builds up a tolerance for it.
Subj: It makes me wonder
Date: 7/22/2009
Hello, I am looking to lose at least 100 pounds in the next year, and I have a friend who took adipex and weighed about 230 sumthing and wore a size 18 and is now down to a size 14 and didn’t even excersise, and I do alot of excersise.. so it makes me wonder; what if I took it, eating healthy, excesising every single day, and drinking my same gallon of water a day, I bet this pill could work wonders for me. I wear a size 20-24 and by the end of this year I would like to be down to a size 12-14 or so..so I just wanted to know what qualifications do I have to have in order to get the pills, I know I have to get them from my doc, but I am DESPARATE and I cant afford gastric bypass.. I would also like to know how much the persctription costs?? thnx!
Vanessa
AskDocWeb: The first qualification is to have a Body Mass Index or BMI of 30 or more. Then there are some health concerns that have to be considered before your doctor will write a prescription. As for cost, you may want to do some price comparison by calling several local drugstores.
Subj: Lost 50 pounds!
Date: 7/23/2009
I been on the drug for 3months and lost a total of 50lbs and still loosing, since I started I haven’t had a week that I didn’t loose weight…for the 1st week I had palpation, it made me exhausted and I felt as if I was “high”…that soon wore off. The only problem I have is lightheadedness and cloudy vision as if I am going to pass out, more recently excessive sweating while working out. It is important to take a vitamin while on this drug and a low calorie diet, I have changed my lifestyle completely so I plan to keep the weight off for ever.
D
AskDocWeb: Congratulations D, sounds like you are doing a good job. Maybe you could share what kind of lifestyle changes you made that helped you accomplish this success.
Subj: It’s starting not to work as well
Date: 7/25/2009
I have been taking adipex for a month an lost 11 pounds. It really seems to work but I think its starting not to work as well cause I find myself getting hungry now. My side affects have been irritability, I feel shakey at times or like I cant keep up with myself, also I have an IUD an never have periods but I began to spot when I first started taking them an when I went to a whole from half a pill. When taking them especially at first I felt kinda like I was on a roller coaster ride going from extreamly hyper an wanting to clean or whatever to not wanting to move or speak. I would zone out for long periods of time during a down, an still get that every now an then.

Subj: Restless, irritable, and constant yeast infections
Date: 7/28/2009
I started taking Adipex about 6 months ago. It made my head…well for lack of a better word, buzz. I was very restless and irritable. I then started cutting the pill in half so that I only took a half dose. I didn’t lose any weight that way. Went off it after a month and half, but I did take it here and there when I knew I would be around a lot of food. I have constant yeast infections with this pill. I never had them before I was on this. I just started taking the Adipex again but this time for some reason, I can take a whole pill. I have lost 7 pounds in 5 days. I am getting the yeast infection back! I eat plenty of yogurt…actually that is all I seem to like when I am taking Adipex. Not sure what to do about the infection. I get the pill (to clear up the yeast infection) from the Gyno but the reaccurance is making me crazy. Need to find something to balance out the good and bad yeast. I have been a little snappy toward my hubby and kids while I have been on it. Won’t want to be on this forever but I am almost 100 pounds overweight and am not willing to have surgery to fix it. This pill is my last resort.

Subj: Constipation
Date: 7/29/2009
I have struggled with weight for about 10 years. I saw a friend who seemed to have lost at least 50 pounds She introduced me to Adipex under the watchful eye of her Dr. I started 15 days ago and I have lost 9 pounds. My cravings went away, I sleep better and lesss; before this I was sleeping anywhere and everywhere. My only problem now is Constipation. I need something for that. However I will continue with Adipex until I lose all the 80 pounds I need to lose. The gym. has not helped me neither has dieting. My weight just kept going up and I was always hungry.
Elizabeth
AskDocWeb: Most constipation is caused by too little exercise, too little fiber, or too little water/fluids in the diet. Drinking lots of water helps many to relieve constipation.
Subj: Alli diet pill?
Date: 7/30/2009
I was wondering if it was okay to take Adipex with the Alli diet pill. I have been on Alli and I enjoyed the diet, but I am now taking adipex and have heard that while taking both you could lose more weight since the work in two different ways and it could also help you manage your low fat diet due to the Alli side effects. Is this true? if so I would like to bring this up to my doctor.
Kimberly
AskDocWeb: That would certainly be something to discuss with your doctor but be aware that it is possible to lose weight too fast, which wouldn’t be healthy.
Subj: Adipex 37.5mg
Date: 7/31/2009
I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager (late 90’s – now 38). I’ve tried every miracle diet there is and they work for a short period of time. I’ve stuck with “eating the right foods” and still gained the weight back. I finally went to my doctor and he prescribed Adipex 37.5mg. Since May 17, 2009 I’ve gone from 203# to 178#. I did experience the “high” for the first few days, but it leveled out and I’m doing great. I told a friend that was also struggling with her weight, she’s lost pounds as well as inches, just as I have. I would say “yes” to anyone who wanted to try it – with doctor’s approval.

Subj: Hair loss?
Date: 8/2/2009
I am a 20 year old female, Almost half my hair fell out when I used adderall for 3 months. My doctor prescribed me Adipex and I’ve been on it for a week. Should I be worried about my hair falling out again?
Alexandra
AskDocWeb: So far there have only been a few reports of hair loss and that is not listed as one of the side effects of Adipex. It probably won’t but if it does become a problem be sure to let us know.
Subj: Bleeding and spotting
Date: 8/9/2009
I have been taking adipex for two months now and if lost 18 pounds. it is great cuts my cravings. But I think it is messing with my periods I have had a lot of bleeding and spotting this month and I was wondering if this was from the adipex…
Kim
AskDocWeb: While it is not listed as one of the side effects, a few women have reported a difference in their menstrual cycle. It is best to check with your doctor to make sure that everything is okay.
Subj: Wonderful results
Date: 8/9/2009
I have been taking Adipex for approx 1 1/2 months and have had wonderful results. I am steadily losing weight between 15-17 pounds. My periods have become regular again (I am certain due to the loss in weight). I very optimistic about future results and notice I can even skip days and achieve appetite suppression. As mentioned by my doctor, the medication is retraining my body to require less food.

Subj: Scales are the devil
Date: 8/10/2009
I’ve used Adipex off and on since ’02, initially I lost 40 lbs. I gained back the weight thru pregnancy. I tried off and on, but I wasn’t serious with my diet and excercise so no results, or I didn’t keep it off. You have to change bad habits. That’s the purpose of this pill. Now I’m back on Adipex with Zolofts thru my weight doctor and I’m doing great. Zolofts aide in PMDD and cravings. The key is to take Adipex in the morning, Zoloft in the afternoon. It’s working for me. I need to take a link out my Guess watch. I’m tightening my belt to the next notch almost weekly. Scales are the devil stay away from em’!

Subj: Adipex and prozac
Date: 8/11/2009
Is it safe to take adipex and prozac? I’ve noticed contradicting statements to this question and I’m aware of seretonin syndrome. Also I am wondering if adipex is safe for people with liver problems?
Gloria
AskDocWeb: We didn’t find any interactions between the two drugs but our interaction checker may not include every interaction that is known. Our sources say to avoid using Adipex within 14 days of using an anti-depressant but check with your doctor. Liver problems are not mentioned in the patient information for this drug.
Subj: How long does it take?
Date: 8/14/2009
Quick question- when you go off of adipex, how long does it take to go completely out of your system and after that, when can you start taking it again to get the first use results?
Nicole
AskDocWeb: It may take up to 2 weeks to get the Adipex completely out of your system. Starting again will depend on the assessment of your doctor.
