Subj: Horrible side effects but Adipex is a miracle worker
Date: 12/24/2009
I have completed my first month on Adipex and will say it is a miracle worker. From the first 30 minutes you take the pill you instantly forget about food’s existence. It is actually a struggle to eat to maintain your body’s nutrition requirements. I go many days with just eating apple slices and a small amount of meat for a little protein. I lost 18 lbs in 30 days and that is without exercising once (which I am a little ashamed of). With that being said, there are quite a few side effects with adipex. You HAVE to take it everyday. Think of it as the same as birth control: taken at the same time, every day and do not skip a day.

Those posting reviews about nasty side effects after taking it here and there should not be paid attention to because they are not following the instructions of the medicine. Dry mouth is one of the worst side effects. Honestly, I found it to be kind of a blessing because it has forced me to always have a water bottle by my side which leads to a healthier life style. I drink TONS of water now instead of soda and sugary drinks and it cures the dry mouth/bad taste immediately. Also, it kept me from falling straight to sleep the first 3 nights but after that I never had a problem with it again.

Most importantly, the one I struggled with the most is the horrible moods I believe it gave me for the first 2 weeks ONLY. I couldn’t control my anger, I felt like the incredible Hulk ready to pounce on someone at any moment. It was affecting my relationships and finally I had to face the fact that Adipex was doing this to me. After that realization, I was able to control my moods and never noticed it again. These side effect may seem horrible, and as bad as this sounds, it is truly worth it for the amazing results you get on Adipex. I couldn’t be happier with the medicine and recommend it to anyone who doesn’t have the time, energy or will to lose weight the standard way.

Subj: Sinus pressure
Date: 12/28/2009
I was taking adipex for 5 days. The first 3 days I lost 6 ibs. But then after I started exercising I felt sick. After running on the treadmill my nose started running like crazy and I felt a lot of sinus pressure. I decided to try exersizing again after the first time since I didn’t have a cold, and it happened again! This time I did remain sick with a sinus cold that made me feel crappy. I don’t know if it was adipex but I always run on the treadmill and this has never happened to me. But it could be it’s own issue. I also did not get the complete fullness feeling everyone is saying. It’s half of the pill and half of my self control which is better then nothing but still have temptations. I’ve taken the nv pill that was endorsed by carmen electra and that even made me so full, comparedto adipex. It is now off the market. Any advice? If I continue taking the adipex pill, how ling does it take for one to really feel it’s total effect?

Se

AskDocWeb: There are no sinus side effects listed for Adipex so that may be an unrelated issue. After taking it for 5 days you are already feeling the full effect of this drug. It is important to remember that Adipex will help reduce your appetite but it does not remove all temptations. There are some easy tips listed on Conquer Cravings that might help in that area.

Subj: 7 year old daughter
Date: 12/29/2009
I have a 7 year old daughter and she is overweight like I think she is about 35-40 pounds overweight could she take adipex?

Tee

AskDocWeb: The safety and effectiveness of Adipex in pediatric patients has not been established. You can check her weight on this chart. If she weighs more than 66 pounds then you may want to talk to a doctor.

Subj: Thirsty!
Date: 1/5/2010
I’ve been on adipex now for a month and I’ve lost 20 pds!!! I haven’t experienced much of the side effects but I do continuously stay thirsty! I drink about 3 liters of water a day. I also work out regularly mainly walking and running. The only problem I’ve encountered is not wanting to eat at all. I have to force myself to eat and when I do it’s only a few bites. So far I am really enjoying my weight loss and taking adipex!

Subj: Dizzy, sleepy, and groggy
Date: 1/5/2010
I have been taking Adipex for nearly a week now and the side effects seem to be getting only worse. I am dizzy and sleepy/groggy on it. I thought it was supposed to have the opposite effect. Is it even working if I feel to tired to even exercise plus it hasn’t really curbed my appetite.

Raven

AskDocWeb: It does sound like it isn’t working and if the side effects are getting worse, check with your doctor.

Subj: Urine test
Date: 1/7/2010
How long will adipex stay in my system and show up on a urine test for a job?

Sandy

AskDocWeb: It may take up to 2 weeks for Adipex to completely leave your system.

Subj: Appetite has reduced
Date: 1/8/2010
I just started taking Adipex 5 days ago. The first day I felt a little jittery, but that has gone away. I am surprised at how drastically my appetite has reduced! I have developed a cough that is driving me insane…not enough to stop the program though as I read the great results people are experiencing.

Subj: Caffeine?
Date: 1/10/2010
Does adipex have caffeine in it? Thanks,

Chelsea

AskDocWeb: No, there is no caffeine in Adipex but it does stimulate the hypothalamus and certain neurotransmitters in the brain. Chemically it is similar to amphetamines.

Subj: Changing my sex drive
Date: 1/11/2010
I’ve been taking adapx since July-09. I’ve lost over 30lb on it some times I take it every other day so I wont get addicted 2 it. I’ve seen some of the side effects dry mouth constipaion and I try 2 correct them when ever they accure. But the only thing is botherng me the most is this pill it’s changing my sex drive! I would feel more in the mood of having it but in the same time it takes me longer than usual and I feel very dry than when I dont take the pill..what should I do? Should I stop the pill? Is that a side effect too or what? Pls advice me. Thx. karen

Karen

AskDocWeb: There are no sexual side effects listed for Adipex so you will have to check with your doctor to find out what is going on.

Subj: Energy boost
Date: 1/11/2010
Hello I have been on adipex for two weeks and I have not noticed no boost of energy. I dont know if its because I havent been on it long enough or what. How long does it take for adipex to get into your system and the energy boost starts?

Penny

AskDocWeb: Sorry Penny, because of the difference in physiology, the energy boost does not happen to everyone. Typically if it is going to show up it will happen within the first few days.

Subj: Time frame for Adipex?
Date: 1/17/2010
Is there a time frame on how long u can take adipex and how long u have to get off of it before u can get back on it again? Or can u just take it the whole year?

Mona

AskDocWeb: Adipex is a short-term treatment for obesity. This appetite suppressant is usually taken for 8 to 12 weeks. Using it for longer than 12 weeks is not recommended. Because of its amphetamine-like effects, Adipex can be habit forming.

Subj: I hit a plateau
Date: 1/17/2010
I have been taking Adipex (the generic version)for about 3 months and in the first few weeks I lost about 7 pounds. In the last few weeks have found I hit a plateau. Should I just continue taking it? Can anyone else recommend something just as good? Should I ask the pharmacy for the non-generic verison?

Courtney

AskDocWeb: The reason for hitting a plateau is that, as the body becomes accustomed to Adipex, the drug loses its effectiveness. Using the non-generic version would not make any difference.

Subj: Trying it again
Date: 1/17/2010
Used Adipex for one month in November. Lost a whopping 3 lbs. I had to take half at 10:30 and the other half at 2:30 or I’d feel really strange and short of breath. I am trying it again…hope I have better success this time. I am 5’5″ and weigh 149lbs. I am 55 yrs old.

Sally

Subj: Adipex diet
Date: 1/19/2010
My dietician recommends starting with 1/2 adipex before 10am the first week and then a whole at week2. During use, colonics 1x-month, B6, potassium for leg cramps and a whole food multivitamin @am, calcium+magnesium @pm. Food is whole food chicken, seafood, fruits, vegs, 64oz water min, no diet soda, decaf coffee/tea, 1000cal goal. Exercise is walking or yoga 20min Su/Tu/Th/Sa and nightly stretching/breathing. I’ve lost 23lbs OF FAT (documented) in 4.5 wks and my liver tests are good. When stopping adipex, cut back to 1/2 daily, then 1/2 every other day, 1/2 every 2 days, etc. until I can sustain on my own. Hope this helps.

Subj: Struggled with weight
Date: 1/26/2010
Hi I am 19, 5’6, and 223 pounds and have struggled with weight my whole life, I want to try this adipex drug, do you reccommend it?

Brittney

AskDocWeb: There are some pre-existing conditions that might prevent safe use but if you want to try it, ask your doctor if it would be a good choice for you.

Subj: 3 month limit?
Date: 1/27/2010
I was told that in OHIO Adipex can only be prescribed for 3 months is that correct? If someone has taken Adipex for 3 months (if that is the max) can didrex be prescribed after that?

Grace

AskDocWeb: Studies have shown that if you use anorectic agents such as adipex for more than 3 months you increase your risk for pulmonary hypertension by 23 times. Pulmonary hypertension is usually fatal. An increased risk of pulmonary hypertension with repeated courses of therapy cannot be excluded.

Subj: Severe acne outbreaks
Date: 2/1/2010
I have used Adipex for a year and have lost 50 pounds with diet and exercise. I do have severe acne outbreaks using it but feel it is worth it. However, I seem to have built up a tolerance for it. It seems that it isn’t working any longer as I am starting to be VERY hungry OFTEN. Can I discontinue use and restart to get the same prior effects? If so, how long do I need to be “off” of them prior to restarting?

Dianne

AskDocWeb: No, going off of them and restarting does not produce the same effect. Your doctor is likely to have a better alternative, one that doesn’t cause problems with acne.
