Subj: Adipex diet pills
Date: 8/30/2010
When I left the hospital from having my second baby I weighted 205 Lbs. One month after the birth of my son I WEIGHTED 195 Lbs, even with diet and exercise. I’m only 5’5 so I was considered to be overweight. I have been taking Adipex for about 3 month, It works great! Yes there are side effects that are somewhat unpleasant but it’s different for everyone. Some of the reviews make it sound like the side effects are extreme, but for me they were minimum. I had a lot of energy, which wasn’t really a bad thing, and was a little off for the first month but after that the side effects pretty much went away. I NOW weight 156 Lbs. which speaks for itself.
MY ADVISE is to take it 1-2 hours before breakfast, than workout for at least 30 minutes, workout videos work best for me with weights, this simulates your metabolism and will help with appetite suppression thought out the day. Try and stay busy for as long as possible, the more your moving the less you think about eating. You w ill find that you are able to workout for longer than usual take advantage of this. I’ll very happy with my results but this is something you have to work for. Adipex makes it 10 times easier, trust me I tried for a month without it.

Subj: How can I slowly get off Adipex?
Date: 8/30/2010
Hello, I have been on adipex for about 9 months now and have lost quite a bit of weight (i was about 165 and now i am 129) on the drug. I’m starting to get worried though because the side effects when i don’t take the drug are depression and being extremely tired. I want to stop and keep my healthy low calorie diet and exercise plan but I fear I can’t do it without the drug. How can I slowly get off this medication so it does not effect me physically or psychologically?
Bongo
AskDocWeb: The safest way to do that is with the help of your doctor. When discontinuing abruptly following prolonged use, extreme fatigue and mental depression have been reported.
Subj: Drug interaction?
Date: 8/31/2010
I am contemplating using Adipex in order to lose weight… I am currently taking wellbutrin to help me to quit smoking…will there be a drug interaction because isn’t wellbutrin also an anti-deppressant?
CC
AskDocWeb: Yes, Wellbutrin is an antidepressant. The use of Wellbutrin with Adipex has been associated with a dose-related risk of seizures. The estimated incidence of seizures is about 0.1% at dosages up to 300 mg/day but increases almost tenfold between 450 mg and 600 mg/day. This risk may also be increased when taking SSRI antidepressants, tricyclic antidepressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, neuroleptic agents, central nervous system stimulants, opioids, other tricyclic compounds, systemic steroids, and/or any substance that can reduce the seizure threshold. These agents may have additive effects when combined.
Subj: Breathing problems
Date: 9/5/2010
Hi, I took adipex when I was in my teens and lost around 100 pounds. I didnt use it correctly because it decreased my hunger to the point I would only eat every few days and the others I would only drink water or soda. After 3 pregnancies and gaining the 100 pounds plus some back I tried it again. The week that I started taking it I began having breathing problems that landed me in the hospital. I was never given a diagnosis on what caused the breathing problems and the Adipex was blamed. I have to wonder if that was really the cause. If I had just gotten a new rabbit and was holding that would the docs have blamed the rabbit for the difficulty? I wondered if you could tell me if this has been reported before as an adverse effect of phentermine? I am over 300 pounds and need to lose weight. I understand pulmonary hypertension has not been ruled in or out using phentermine alone, but are there confirmed cases of breathing problems from using adipex? Also could you please tell me if there is an increased risk for smokers using Adipex? Thanks!
Julia
AskDocWeb: Smokers have an increased risk for many breathing problems. Adipex may cause primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH), which is a rare but serious disease of the lungs. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting spells, or swollen ankles. Although it is rare, people can also experience an allergic reaction with signs of rash or hives, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing or difficulty swallowing. Patients with these symptoms should seek emergency medical attention.
Subj: Blood pressure meds
Date: 9/5/2010
Can u take adipex and high blood pressure meds together?
Julie
AskDocWeb: Taking Adipex while on blood pressure meds can have some pretty nasty affects on the heart. Remember that this is a stimulant and typically raises the blood pressure of those without hypertension.
Subj: Sex drive is out of control
Date: 9/7/2010
I dont know what is going on here I have been on the pill a week my sex drive is out of control. I went from not wanting sex to wanting it all day long even after I have sex the feeling of wanting it wont go away. Is this from the pill? If so what should I do? I dont think I can handle this.
Amanda
AskDocWeb: A small percentage of Adipex users report changes in libido. Adipex is a stimulant, which gives you more energy for whatever you focus on.

Subj: Gained half of a pound
Date: 9/10/2010
I started Adipex (half of a pill) on August 29th, 2010. The first week I lost almost 8 pounds. I just went in for my weekly check up and the Dr. says I’ve gained half of a pound. I’ve been following my weight and diet religiously and according to my scale, I lost 3.5 or so. It’s so frustrating!

Subj: Went from 180 to 143
Date: 9/15/2010
I have been taking adipex-p for 4 months now and have went from 180 to 143 want to go to 130 but doctor says he may have to stop me this month because he has found that taking it for to long, will make it stop working. Is this true? and what can I do to mantain I am reading that everyone who got off gained the weight back. Can I stay on and take 1/2 a pill to maintain?
Donna
AskDocWeb: It appears that all diet drugs have this in common; that the body has a tendency to build up a tolerance to them and they stop working. How long that takes varies with the individual. Remember that this drug is intended to assist you in the short-term management of weight, not for long-term use. It helps people get through the lifestyle changes to their diet and exercise. If those lifestyle changes are not made then the weight is likely to come back when the drug is discontinued.
Subj: Increased Heart Rate
Date: 9/17/2010
I was taking this drug for about 2-3 weeks when I first discovered that I was having Increased Heart Rate. One week ago Tuesday I went to my doctor about the side effects and we discussed cutting it in half. It worked for 5 days and then on Monday of this week the Increased Heart Rate was back. On Wednesday of this week I started noticing my heart was going like 1, 2, 3 back to normal and it was up in the 100’s. I was placed in the Hospital last night overnight with an EKG in the ER and this morning. I am being taken off of this drug. The doctor I saw this morning said I could stop taking it all together since I had taken it 6 days at a half a dose. I want everyone out there to know that it is not worth the risks. Sure it helped me lose 20 Pounds but, there is a much safer way.

Subj: Stomach ulcers?
Date: 9/20/2010

Subj: Pulmonary heart problems
Date: 9/24/2010
I took adipex at one time for about 6 months and lost at least 60 pounds, but after coming off it and after about four years I gained all of it back plus additional 10 pounds, I also was having chest pains and when I had gotten it check I was told the diet pill I took which was adipex caused pulmonary heart problems and that was what I was diagnosed with. I wouldn’t recommend using this.

Subj: Not fun
Date: 9/29/2010
i have used adepex on three occassions. 1st time i lost 60 lbs in 3 months, kept it off for a couple months, then 6 months later the weight crept back on plus 10, 2nd time i wasn’t on it for a month, decided to try weight watchers. this time i’m 5 months and lost 32 lbs. i have lost a ton of my hair, thank god mine is long and thick, my left eye has twitching in it with headaches often and i have found myself constantly sleepy. going to bed earlier and sleeping long for the past week. i guess this is only a magic weight loss pill the 1st time. my advice no meds, eat better and exercise, it takes longer and a life change but i’m nervous about these side effects and won’t go to my regular doctor. not fun.
