Subj: A multivitamin and a b12 a day does wonders
Date: 9/21/2011
So today is my first day and I feel the effects already! Good though, I didn’t feel hungry at all today. I also have an under active thyroid and have gained 30 lbs in one year. Although I’m 5’7 180 is way to big for me! I’ll let you know of my success, but I will say a multivitamin and a b12 a day does wonders for you…
Debbie
AskDocWeb: We are looking forward to hearing about your success. Good luck Debbie.
Subj: Can I use Adipex again with success?
Date: 9/21/2011
I used Adipex for 8 months and lost 35 lbs. I had to count my calories to be sure to have enough because I was never hungry. I exercised consistently because I would get jittery if I didn’t but slept well every night. It seemed to stop working the last month so I decided to continue my new lifestyle without Adipex and lose the last 10 lbs on my own. I did really well until a tramatic event in my life that I allowed to send me back into emotional eating and depression. A year later, I’ve gained all of the weight back and am discouraged. Since it seems I built up a tolerance to it the last time I used it, can I use it again with success? Any suggestions?
Crystal
AskDocWeb: It is encouraging to hear that you were able to continue the lifestyle without Adipex and still successfully lose weight. If you did it once it is likely that you will be able to do that again. The decision on whether or not to use Adipex again should be left up to your doctor. He or she may have a better alternative. Good luck Crystal.
Subj: Neck pain
Date: 9/22/2011
I have used Adipex two different times, I have lost wieght both times, But I stop taken them because of the neck pain I had, It became severe. I was going to my regular doctors appointments, My blood pressure and everything was great. I just couldnt take the neck tension, I never get thirsty, on or off of them, I got to remind myself to drink, Could this be the cause of the neck tension and do others have this pain in their muscle too?
Lita
AskDocWeb: Neck pain is not listed by the manufacturer as one of the side effects of Adipex. Dehydration may be the largest single cause of back and neck pain. About 75% of the support provided by your spine comes from the water inside small spinal discs between each vertebra. When the body is dehydrated, these discs contain less water and are less capable of providing support. This results in an increased risk of nerve impingement, additional strain on the musculature that supports the spine, and an increased risk of disc herniation, all of which are significant sources of back and neck pain.
Health Note: Moving a joint through its range of motion helps to draw water into it and keep its cartilage well hydrated. This also applies to the spine and its supporting discs. This is one of the reasons why exercise is such an important part of pain management.
Subj: Is it safe to take adipex now with one kidney?
Date: 9/23/2011
I was recently diagonsed with kidney cancer and will be removing my right kidney. Is it safe to take adipex now with an active tumor and will it be safe to take with one kidney?
Genae’
AskDocWeb: In most cases, one kidney is capable of performing the normal functions of both kidneys, although it may grow a little larger in the process of doing that. If you have only one kidney that makes it more important pay attention to your health. That means learning to make wise and healthy lifestyle choices, and getting your weight under control is a good one. Here are some of the basic guidelines for learning to live with one kidney:
- Get regular medical check ups.
- Adopt and maintain a healthy balanced diet.
- Learn what an adequate amount of water is for you.
- Physical exercise to maintain optimum kidney health.
- Use supplements to compensate for any nutritional deficiencies.
Having just one kidney does not rule out the use of Adipex but only your doctor can say whether or not it would be safe to use in your particular situation.
Subj: I lost 47 pounds!
Date: 9/28/2011
I have been taking Adipex for 5 months. I have lost 47 pounds. I am concerned about gaining weight when I stop taking the medication. I have found when I skip a day, my appetite is increased. My libido is extremely high. I do have increased irritability and if I find if I relax my mind, I can sleep. I have to really make yourself lay down and relax. This was my final step to weight loss because I had high blood pressure and was contemplating gastric bypass surgery. I want kids. I want to live a healthy life. I hope Adipex only helps me and pray it was the step to my new journey in life. God bless you all on your journeys.

Subj: If you don’t drink water will Adipex still help with weight loss?
Date: 9/28/2011
I started to take adipex about four days ago I have lost 2lbs. I am wandering why haven’t I had more weight lost. I am exercising more and I do have tons of energy. I think I exercised to much today because afterwards I was beat. I only want to take the pill for 3-4 months my goal is to lose at least ten pounds a month. I hate water but I am tryin to make myself drink more of it. My question is if you do not drink water will this pill be able to still help with my weight loss?
Emily
AskDocWeb: Since you lost 2 pounds in 4 days, that means you are losing a half a pound each day, which is good progress. If the daily amount of water is not increased while taking Adipex, that increases the possibility of constipation. Your body needs the extra water in order to flush out toxins and to burn fat.
Subj: Losing 125lbs in 2 months is insane
Date: 10/1/2011
For the person that states they lost 125lbs in 2 months thats insane stop tellin fibs there is noway, this page is suppose to be helpful.
Jordan
AskDocWeb: Losing more than 2 pounds a day may indicate a serious health crisis, which could require immediate medical attention. Studies have also shown that people who lose more than 3 pounds per week have a greater risk of developing gallstones than those who lose weight at slower rates.
Subj: Chest pain
Date: 10/4/2011
I have been taking adipex for a little over a year now. I lost about 70lbs and want to loose 70 more. I am on high blood pressure meds but I go to a doc that checks blood pressure 1x a month. Recently I have noticed some dull pains in the right side of my chest. Nothing painful but noticable. It seems like it has now shifted from my right side to my left. Now alittle worried since is where my heart is. I do lift weights 3 or 4 x a week and assumed it was a strained muscle or something. I’m thinking it also comes when working or experiencing alittle stress. What do you think?
Jim
AskDocWeb: Yes, it could be stress but it could also be a number of other things. Chest pain has many possible causes, most of which deserve medical attention. The only way to confirm its cause is to have a doctor evaluate you.
Subj: I started Adipex today
Date: 10/5/2011
Hey you all, I started Adipex today alone with the B12 shot. I am so excited about getting this weight off me. I am 5″3 and I weight 222 Pounds I am very disappointed at myself but now I am feeling better about myself. I did feel a lil nausea this morning but I just ate a little cereal and I felt better. I am ready now to get off work and exercise. Wish me Luck.
Brittany
AskDocWeb: Congratulations on taking steps to get your weight under control. Most weight loss programs have their ups and downs so remember to keep focused on your goal. Good luck!
Subj: Dry mouth and late period
Date: 10/7/2011
I’ve been on this for almost a month and a half and have lost around fifteen lbs. I am constantly thirsty though and have dry mouth most of the day, despite drinking around 80+ oz of water/fluids. Also, I am worried about my menstrual cycle as I have not started this month and have confirmed with a test that I am not pregnant. (I’m a week late.)
Amanda
AskDocWeb: Although it doesn’t affect everyone this way, Adipex has been reported to cause the following changes in menstrual cycles:
- Spotting
- Missed periods
- Early periods
- Late periods (up to 10 days late)
- Having two periods within four weeks
- Some women describe it as messed up
The good news is that there is no evidence to suggest that Adipex might alter the effectiveness of birth control pills in preventing pregnancy.
Subj: Headaches and not eating
Date: 10/10/2011
When I first started taking Adipex I weighed 150lbs. I wanted to go down to at least 120lbs. And I have always been scared of Medicine but, my doctor told me that it was safe to take so I did. When I first took it it gave me headaches everyday, and I had a bad attitude. So asked my cousin why I was having headaches and she said Well, you can’t go all day without eating. And it made me realize I wasn’t even eating enough! I would go all day without eating and not even thinking about food, until later that night and I would eat like crazy because I was so hungry. And I found out not to take it late in the day because you will not sleep that night. I lost 36lbs in 2months. I am now off Adipex and I make sure do right, because I don’t want to gain it back.

Subj: Short breaths
Date: 10/11/2011
Hi there. I am taking adipex and have done great with it. I set my alarm earlier in the morning to take due to sleeping issues at night. I’m thinking I may have accidently doubled my dose today. I am having symptoms of short breaths. What should I do?
Pamela
AskDocWeb: An overdose may cause panic, which could explain the short breaths. The patient information for Adipex says that if an overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Subj: How long does it take to get out of your system?
Date: 10/13/2011
I started taking Addipex 2 weeks ago. It made me feel really bad but did suppress my appetite. I felt very tired and dizzy. I started having really bad chest pains also. I stopped taking it 2 days ago but I am still having the chest pains. How long does it take to get out of your system?
Angela
AskDocWeb: That depends on the half-life of the drug. With adipex the half-life ranges between 16 and 31 hours. There is a good explanation of half-life here. Remember that chest pains may be life threatening so tell your doctor.
