Is Adipex for me?
Date: 5/16/2012
I’m 5’5 and weigh 178 will the doctor give adipex to me??

AskDocWeb: Since your BMI is 30 there is a possibility but other health factors must also be considered. For that your doctor will need to consider your health history and current condition.

Eating, sleeping and getting fatter
Date: 5/17/2012
I have been taking adipex for six days.. The first two or three days I has lots of energy and little to no appetite. As the days have continued on I am back to my old self Previous to trying adipex and that’s just sleeping and getting fatter. The suppression of appetite is now minimal to none. I have checked with pharmacy and the pills are not out of date. I also take symbyax 3/25 which is the smallest dosage it has. I have been taking them both adipex and the symbyax in the morning. My pharmacist said to take the symbyax at night and the adipex in morning. I do realize that the symbyax has eating and sleepiness as side effects. I am wondering though by taking symbyax at night and adipex in morning will it really make a difference and I go back to how I was the first few days I took adipex and was awake moving around not eating a ton or will I continue to do as I am now sleeping all day and night and eating when I am awake for a few hours a day?

Will they keep working against each other just because I take one at night and one at day or will taking the symbyax be not so much effecting me by the time I take the adipex in the morning? I have seriously got to lose some weight but I can not stop the symbyax because it helps my mood so greatly. Is it possible to be prescribed two a day instead of one? Would taking two if doctor prescribed two even make a difference? Or is two adipex never prescribed daily and has bad side effects? Some one please respond with advice. Will taking the symbyax at night and the adipex in morning really make a difference or will I be the same and why has the adipex only worked like the doctor said it would the first few days and now it’s like I’m back to my old self sleeping and eating all the time?

AskDocWeb: Excessive hunger is one of the possible side effects of Symbyax that should be reported to the doctor who prescribed it. The usual adult dosage of Adipex is one capsule or tablet (37.5 mg) daily, taken before breakfast or 1-2 hours after breakfast. That is typically also the maximum dosage.

I feel confident now
Date: 5/21/2012
I have been on this medicine for about 8 months and I 100% would tell a friend about this. It helped my weight lost journey all the way. I eat small portions of food. I don’t always eat healthy but I do make it a regular thing to eat more healthy meals vs sweets and unhealthy food. I have lost a total of 80 pounds. I am 5’3 and I was at 242 at my highest and now 8 months later I’m at 162 (smile). I do walk/jog 4 days a week, and practice yoga 4 days a week as well. If you are serious about losing weight, this drug will help your journey with weightloss all the way.
I’m 22 years old and living all my years over weight has been depressing. I feel confident now, and plan on continuing my weight loss. I also do not take it every day anymore, I want to allow my body to adjust to my needs and not my wants. And I do not depend on this medicine, I do not have any symptoms of withdraw when I don’t take it. If anyone would like advice please feel free to ask. This isn’t a fix all drug, you still need to put the effort forward and truly believe you deserve to be happy, and healthy and your weightloss journey will follow soon after. I know how it feels to struggle with obesity, so please ask if you need. Best wishes!!

Intermittent shingles
Date: 5/21/2012
I”HAVE BEEN TAKING ACYCLOVIR TWO TREAT SHINGLES THIS TIME MY DR. PUT ME 800MG TWICE A DAY FOR A MO. MY CONCERN IS THAT MY SHINGLES COME AND GO. IS THIS NORMAL AND WHY DOES IT COMES BACK. FIRST TIME I GOT SHINGLES WAS IN 2010 SINCE THEN IT COMES AND GO.

Olga

AskDocWeb: The shingles virus (varicella-zoster) does not go away completely but remains in the body and may be reactivated whenever the immune system is weakened by fatigue, disease or advanced age. This makes it important for those with the virus to get an adequate amount of sleep.

No effects
Date: 5/22/2012
I have taken adipex in the past and it worked great. I would stay so busy that I would often forget to eat lunch or would eat very little because I was not hungry. My doctor has recently prescribed adipex again to help me stay awake and fight off a few extra pounds. I have been taking them for 3 weeks and feel no effects. I still get hungry and am sound asleep within an hour of taking one.

Bailey

AskDocWeb: Patients are typically instructed to take once a day, 1 hour before breakfast or 1 to 2 hours after breakfast. Are you saying that you go to sleep right after breakfast? Either way it sounds like you need to talk to your doctor because if it isn’t working your doctor needs to know that in order to adjust your treatment.

Spacey cloudy floating feeling
Date: 5/25/2012
Hi there! I just started taking Adipex today actually. I was just wondering, what is the average time frame this initial feeling goes away? Its kind of like a spacey/cloudy/floating feeling & that kind of makes me nervous. Like, is tomorrow going to be worse because more is in my system? Or will it be the same? Or decrease? (Understandably, I know no two persons are the same, I’m just looking for some sort of “everything’s okay” Or “this is normal”. thanks,

Fergs

AskDocWeb: We have good news for you. That sensation has been reported by others taking Adipex and is likely to decrease as your body adjusts to the medication. For some this takes only a day or two, for others it may take up to a week.
