Horrible side affect
Date: 3/21/2012
I am part of a small percentage of Ambien users that have experienced a horrible side affect of this drug. For some reason in some people Ambien puts to sleep the inhibitory part of the brain, the part of the brain that your morals and awareness of consequences for actions come from. Than it awakens the excitatory part of the brain, making you basically a zombie capable of doing anything. Along with this comes the side affect of not remembering anything you did while you were sleep walking.
There are many stories out there of people doing bizarre things, people sleep eating, people sleep walking, and even people committing violent crimes. I committed a terrible crime while taking Ambien, and have no memory of it. If I had known about this potential side affect of Ambien I would have never taken it.
Anyone out there who takes Ambien for the first time is playing Russian Roulette with their life, because how do they know before hand if they are going to fall in to that small percentage of us that take it and do terrible things in their sleep. This is a very dangerous drug, how many peoples lives are going to have to be destroyed before something is done to get this drug off the market?

Cyst on kidney and liver
Date: 3/24/2012
I take 5 mg most nights it does work, I have a white mass on kidney & one on my liver, should I take ambien? Doctor said it is a cyst, he would do Ultrasound every 6 months to see if it’s growing.
Mauveline
AskDocWeb: Ambien should be taken only with your doctor’s approval. A cyst is an abnormal pocket of fluid, like a blister, that can form in many different areas of the body including the skin, genitals and internal organs. Most cysts form for no apparent reason but some of the known causes include:
- Blocked ducts, which cause a build-up of fluid
- A defect in the cells
- An impact injury that pops a blood vessel
- A parasite
Tumors of the liver are commonly misdiagnosed as cysts so be sure to keep those follow-up appointments.
Muscle pain and depression
Date: 3/29/2012
I have narrowed down my muscle pain and bouts of depression to Ambien use. Yet I still find myself slipping back to using it. Be very careful with this medication.

Something you will regret
Date: 4/1/2012
If you have been ever, or are currently using other drugs do not start taking ambien. It will start as a experiment with 1 or 2 then 3 or 4 then frigging time travel…This drug will have you doing things that will put you in a psyche ward or jail…do not risk it…this is the best worst advice I will ever give……stay on heroin it is safer…or end up doing something you will regret the rest of your life and you will have never remembered doing.

Lost all motivation with work
Date: 4/2/2012
I have been taking stilnox for close to a year. Sending me off to sleep when the brain wont shut down has really improved that issue. Like allot of previous side effects noted, over the past 4 weeks I have lost all motivation with work, decision making now has cracks in it, completely lost my sex drive and the terrible head acres and walking around in abit of a daze. I am fogetting things on a daily basis, Not being my ontoit self with planning an execution. The headaches and light headedness is becoming to much.

Does Ambien effect lower abdominal/IBS-like issues?
Date: 4/3/2012
I love Ambien. I really do. It improves my quality of life in so many ways. And my quality of life is very poor. Getting to slip away into sleep immediately and get past misery…and awake rested and ready for work with no side effects. So what if I find merchandise at my door I don’t remember ordering…it’s like Christmas lol..”Oooh, what did I buy me?” I am, however, wondering if connection between Ambien and some lower abdominal/IBS-like issues. Anyone know?

My wife has been unable to sleep. She found her mother’s Ambien 5mg from 2005 and is taking them. I have tried to convince her how dangerous it is due to the age of them. Is she in danger? I’m ready to just throw them out!!!
Rich
AskDocWeb: Here are some reasons to avoid using them that you may not have considered:
- 1. If the prescription was written for her mother then legally she may be described as a drug abuser. Your local law enforcement agency, doctor or pharmacist can confirm this.
- 2. Hopefully she is never stopped by the police for a driving violation while under the influence of this drug or she might be arrested because she is using someone else’s prescription.
- 3. Your family may be in danger of losing insurance coverage if she is involved in an accident while under the influence of this drug because she is using someone else’s prescription.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends that you not take expired medication because it may no longer work properly.
Nighttime surprise
Date: 4/27/2012
I have been on ambien for a couple months I just have not been sleeping. Until now I get great sleep wake up REFRESHED. I can still go nights where I don’t need to take it to sleep. I usually only need to take it after a long stressful crazy day. I might get a little loopy but not bad like I’ve seen. My Husband is on it to for other reasons and the other night I had just finished ALL the laundry and it was in a pile by my side of the bed. I am being woken up at 4am to a rustling sound… and to my SURPRISE My husband is peeing ALL OVER MY CLEAN CLOTHES I’m yelling at him to stop but he insists he is not peeing on my clothes…crawls into bed right back asleep. With that said I think it effects everyone in their own way. I have tried everything in the book for sleep and none of it works the natural stuff like melatonin. who knows
