Subj: Physician loosing hair
Date: 6/30/2005
As a physician who is loosing hair myself, I have done a lot of research and have found a few facts. Anything advertised in infomercials are usually not found to work as well as they claim. Only two things are known to help stop hair growth. These are minoxidil and propecia. I appreciate the research you have done, and the information you presented here about the corrupt nature of the president of this company tells the whole story. It’s a scam. People are better off just buying Rogaine. Thanks again for the helpful information you have provided here…

Subj: Quit Avacor because of cost
Date: 7/7/2005
I used Avacor, I have fully grown my hair (My hair line was receding) in 2 months. Being a bachelor, I could not check any sexual side effects. I stopped using the product cause of its cost and not knowing the side effects. Now, I am losing the grown hair. Decided to not buy until the side affects and study is published by third party.

AskDocWeb: You may be waiting the rest of your life for something like that – it’s not likely to happen.

Subj: Severe scalp itching with Avacor
Date: 7/24/2005
I have been using this product for a month now and am gettin severe scalp itching. Is that normal? Should I keep using this product? I have not seen any improvements as of yet.

Mark

AskDocWeb: No, it is not normal. We would discontinue use.

Subj: Avacor rash

Subj: Hair loss remedy for 26 year old?
Date: 8/20/2005
My hair is slowly thinning and now is getting to a point that I am uncomfortable with it. I am very tentative about using hair products but I know I have to do something or I will end up bald. I am torn about which way to go. Any advice regarding the best hair thickening solution for a thinning 26 year old???

Mike

AskDocWeb: We used to recommend Propecia but no longer due to the sexual side effects. We can recommend Procerin because according to feedback, 7 out of 10 men have success with it.

Subj: Avacor scabs
9/3/2005
I think I used too much of the topical. I have scabs on the area of my head where I sprayed it. Have you heard of this before? Any solution?

Kathy

AskDocWeb: The only solution we can offer is to discontinue use. Remember, we do not recommend this product.

Subj: Avacor caused sores
Date: 9/4/2005
The only thing avacor did for me was cause sores on my scalp. Seemed to cause hair to fall out more than before using.

Subj: Avacor uses “Extortion”
Date: 9/5/2005
I used Avacor for an entire year and it really works. Only problem is… it’s not affordable if you’re required to use the stuff forever (unless you want to lose the hair that grew back). I stopped using it. In my opinion Avacor uses “Extortion” just like gas companies do with High Gas Prices!!

Subj: New Your City store?
Date: 9/14/2005
Hi, I was wondering if you can tell me if there is any of your store in New York City, so I could go there and talk to them personally. I just want to make sure about the side effect of using that. Thanks,

Mohammad

AskDocWeb: Sorry, we do not have a store in New York City or anywhere else because we sell no products. This is a product review website where you can share your experience with others about how well (or not) these products work. And we do NOT recommend Avacor.

Subj: Negative feedback
Date: 9/18/2005
It seems like this site is backing some products and then being very negative to others. Doc Web you sure you are not trying to help push specific products.

Steve

AskDocWeb: We admit to being biased in favor of products that work and against those that have unacceptable side effects or do not work as advertised, but we do not push products. The purpose of this website is to collect consumer comments about health products and to do that without the censorship of the big drug companies. We are neither for nor against most of the products we report on here.

Subj: Hair loss product
Date: 9/25/2005
Which of the product really works, procerin, provillus or any.

Sathishraj

AskDocWeb: Procerin has been reported to have good results. We are collecting information about any hair loss product that gets results. If you find one we don’t have listed, let us know.

Subj: Hair loss products
Date: 10/4/2005
After reading about Avacor on the Askdocweb site, I want to profoundly express my gratitude for displaying the report about Avacor.

I was just about to consider trying it for six or seven months and see if there is some substantial improvement over my slight hair growth by just using a regular shampoo containing 1% pyrithione zinc, mens’ supplementary vitamins, B6 and Zinc. Any suggestions with a realistic hope would be most helpful.

Gerardo

AskDocWeb: We are looking at several products for hair loss but the only one we can recommend so far is Procerin. We used to recommend Propecia but it’s beginning to look like the sexual side effects have been seriously underreported.

Subj: Sclapmed
Date: 11/3/2005
What about this new topical product that claims to regrow hair called sclapmed?

Eddie

AskDocWeb: It looks a lot like a scam. They want you to buy without knowing if you are allergic to one of the ingredients in it. When they don’t tell you what’s in it, that’s bad news.

Subj: Avacor scam
Date: 12/9/2005
I have purchased Avacor understanding that I will get my money back should the product not work. Well it didn’t and I didn’t. The “friendly” customer service rep let me know that out of over 500$ that I have spent I am only getting 235$ and that is it. I did some research, unfortunately for me too late, and found out that this company makes false claims about the product, and calls things anything else, but the way they really are. To the day they have not refunded me in full. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and they are investigating the matter. Should BBB be unable to resolve this issue I might forward my case to a legal team. Meanwhile, as I have done myself, I recommend all those who got ripped off, to go to a BBB web site, look up Avacor by Business locator feature in the state ( NY ) and start a case against them. These guys are scam artists and their lies must stop. Avacor does not re grow hair, and even worse, it makes you loose hair upon termination of use. Simple truth is, it does nothing to eliminate the DHT from the follicles, it just increases blood flow. May God help every victim of these fiends get their money back. AVACOR = SCAM.

Subj: Who is Dr. Gordon
Date: 12/14/2005
Hi, I was looking at your information about Avacor. You have a section entitled “Who is Dr. Gordon” and then go on to say he has lost his license for Medicaid fraud. What is his first name and how is he connected to Avacor? There is no other mention of him anywhere in your report. I am a personal buyer for a VIP and am doing research to see if we can recommend and buy this product. Thank you!

Brenda

AskDocWeb: Dr. Gordon started the business called Avacor. He sold out and is no longer associated with the business.

Subj: Saved time and money
Date: 12/18/2005
AskDocWeb saved me a lot of time and money by reading your report which is very enlightening finding that minoxidil is the ingredient known to have a hair growth effect in some people. Minoxidil did not work for me after 2 years. Thanks

Subj: Good results
Date: 12/20/2005
I’ve had good result with Avacor. I just use the oral pill, and have not grown much hair, but my fallout dropped dramatically – and others (who don’t see me regularly) have noticed fuller hair. I’ve used it for several years, but with their price increase, (up to $500 a year now) I’m hoping to find a similar substitute.

Subj: Avacor VS Propecia
Date: 12/30/2005
Hi, I’m deciding between Avacor and Propecia for hair loss systems/products. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Steve

AskDocWeb: We give Avacor a thumbs down for being an expensive source of Minoxidil. Propecia has the possibility of causing serious sexual side effects. We suggest you click both links and read the reports before deciding.

Subj: Avacor Scam
Date: 1/1/2006
I was just reading up on the Avacor feedback page and feel that I may have some insight to offer to the product. I have been using the product for about three years now, and I am switching hair products. The first 8 months I used the product I really saw amazing hair regrowth. This is when the topical solution was red and minoxidil was NOT labeled on the bottle. After the first ten months of use my regrowth teedered off and after the first year, my hair began to thin again.

I called the customer representatives and they told me to keep using the product. I asked if there was anyway I could have become immune to the product and they said “no”, “just keep using the product”. After doing some research on minoxidil, I had learned that Minoxidil only has an effective rate of about 48 weeks and after this amount of time the product really doesn’t work for you. That explains my first 8 months of regrowth and then nothing much after that.

I will not invest another penny into Avacor! I e-mailed them about my dissatisfaction of the product here recently and shared with them that minoxidil has a 26% success rate in men and 33% in women. I also stated that they should update their testimonial page that had the same four people on it since the website began. Needless to say all I received back was a sarcastic e-mail back. I am attempting to try hair genisis for men. I would like to see some feedback on hair genisis for men on this website in the future. Thanx for listening.

Kristopher

AskDocWeb: Thanks for sharing Kristopher. There is now a Hair Genisis page where you can add your feedback. Read more Avacor Feedback.
