Hair loss
Date: 3/18/2013
I was taking chantix for 5 months i did not experiance any emotional or mental side effects however have noticed alot of hair loss after the 5th month of taking and since i have stopped taking it a 30% hairloss is there anything that i can do to grow the hair back. They do not disclose this as a side effect and they should I’m a female and had beautiful hair and now it is thin and sparse and i have to cover the bald spots so take heed before using this medication and know there are other ways to successfully quit smoking like the patch and or EC.

Thanks to Chantix
Date: 3/27/2013
I was a heavy smoker, never thought I could quit. Thanks to Chantix I did, but….. I am sure against any recommendation from either doctors or the manufacturer, I took Chantix for eight month before I smoked my last cigarette. That was 4 years ago an I not only did not take up smoking again but, I can’t believe it myself, never had another craving for a smoke. I had no side effects other than vivid dreams. Kodak colored dreams, but never nightmares. Unfortunately I quit too late and have COPD. Fortunate it is moderate but I know for certain that without Chantix I would still be smoking, with terrible consequences. Thank you Chantix!

Side effects kinda sux
Date: 4/16/2006
2nd time round on chantix, first time was in 09. Has numbness in my right arm for years afterward but thought it was from chrocheting too much. Second time round I’ve been takin it for a month….and has to stop because of problems affording the second pack (112$) and now my left hand and forearm are tingling 15-25x perday since day 3 of being off it. I had and continue to have severe lowered back pain since my 16th day on chantix but figured they weren’t related to chantix despite never having back issues before. I didn’t realize it was a known side effect either.
I am also noticing some major memory loss issues this time around…I thought my past memory issues that also started after last round of chantix was also not related…however, since starting it again its very apparent that its worsening & onset was the chantix. I’m unable to think of names of common items when speaking….like: “I can’t back out of the driveway because your ___ is behind me’ for example. I just draw a complete blank. Kinda sux…makes me feel like a moron.

Adverse reaction
Date: 4/20/2006
Should have known better than to take this drug. Ended up in the ER with an adverse reaction to DEET in ’08 with skin literally peeling off, and then I thought I was having a heart attack after trying an e-cigarette after 1 1/2 days a couple of weeks ago. Experienced nausea, vomiting, constipation, intestinal gas, weird sleep disturbing dreams plus muscle pain in my thighs which makes going up and down stairs extremely painful after only a few days on Chantix. Also depression but not to the thought of suicide as there is no one else to care for my animals depending on me. They keep me alive and going.

Swelling feet
Date: 4/30/2006
Chantix has certainly helped me stop smoking. I’m afraid to come off for fear of starting back up, however, I’ve noticed my feet have become swollen. Is this a normal side effect?
Stacy
AskDocWeb: It is not a normal side effect of Chantix but swelling of the hands, feet and lower legs may indicate a cardiovascular side effect. Any person experiencing sudden, sharp and sustained chest pain should seek immediate medical attention. Other side effects may be discussed with a physician for possible symptom management.
Can I stop Chantix early?
Date: 5/12/2006
Hi. I’m on day 6 of week 2 of chantix. By biggest concern has been dizziness, a sort of “mental fog” or inability to concerntrate and make quick decisions like I normally can. I’ve also had mildly increased blood pressure as well as heart rate. I have insomina (had it before chantix) but it’s worse now, because the dizziness and increased heart rate makes me scared to go to sleep for fear I wont wake up the next morning. It’s definitely making me anxious. I want to be a non smoker. No question. And I’m dedicated to the quit. Can I come off of the Chantix early?! Would the side effects resolve shortly after discontinuing the medicine?
Valerie
AskDocWeb: Stopping early may increase the likelihood of relapsing into nicotine dependency. Unfortunately the time it takes for side effects to resolve varies too widely to make any kind of guess.
It worked but
Date: 8/1/2013
I have taken chantix, and it really helped me stop. I still desire from time to time but I run instead. I have a few symptoms including depression, major mood swings and other small ones. But I have talked to my doctor about that and we are working on a system to get it better. Altogether I thnl chantix worked very well.

Always angry
Date: 9/23/2013
Took Chantix for 11 weeks in 2008. Smoke free for 4 years now. Should have kept smoking. I’m no longer the person I was pre Chantix. I am always angry, I’m prone to fits of rage though never violent. I contemplate suicide, I get angry over everything. I was never this way. Now I’m close to losing my wife as she’s miserable with me. I don’t blame her. I’m miserable with me too. I absolutely know beyond a doubt it was the Chantix. Sadly, no one will listen to me. Doctor is no help.
Dan
AskDocWeb: You are not the only one who is experiencing a loss of anger control. The side effects of Chantix continue to account for a large number of the serious psychiatric problems reported to the FDA, despite a “black box” warning added to the label. That should be a sign that the medication needs even more restrictions or other regulatory action, such as a Chantix recall.
Crippled with nausea

I do not understand how they can even prescribe this evil drug to people, from day 1 I was cripple with nausea to the point I couldn’t get out bed I sweat hot sweats and cold sweats and the wanting to kill yourself comes from being so miserably sick…was the most awful thing ive ever been thru to this day and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
