Subj: “DOUBLE ATTA BOY”, for speaking out on eye training
Date: 7/11/2005
I remember clearly hearing from my optical shop(business for money): If I wore my glasses ALL the time that one day I won’t need to wear glasses, being an honor roll student I obeyed my orders. I’m 45, wearing lineless bifocals and am having trouble seeing again. I can afford laser surgery, but truly know that w/proper training my vision CAN be restored. Being human I choose the easiest way to avoid eye training. I require a teacher to tudor me with eye training – I already have the “vision for life program, but require a “MASTER” eye Dr. to make my dream a reality. Can you advise where this training is practiced – I live in Orange co., California. God bless your help,

Richard

AskDocWeb: Thanks Richard but we are not yet ready to make any recommendations on this. The effectiveness of the eye exercise kit made by Vision for Life is something we are still researching. We hope to be able to post the results sometime in 2006.

Subj: Contact lenses
Date: 10/30/2004
Can you do these exercises while wearing contact lenses? Or am I supposed to take them out?

Matt

AskDocWeb: Take them out for maximum benefit during these exercises.

Subj: Moles on eyelids with tremors
Date: 11/3/2005
I wear glasses – have 30/40 vision. I used to pull out my eyelashes occasionally when my eyes were grainy or I was sleepy or nervous, though I have stopped doing it. I believe that I have suffered some muscle damage in my right eyelid as a result of this and it tremors regularly. I do work that involves using a computer terminal and lately have noticed that it quivers every day. Is there anything I can do to strengthen the eyelids. Also I have 2 very small (pencil point) flesh moles growing on them (though they are not expanding) could they be taking away some blood flow or nourishment from the eyelid? Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter

LMB

AskDocWeb: There are a few things you can do to reduce or eliminate the tremor. Since most tremors are caused by stress, anything you can do to reduce stress and eye strain may help. If you consume caffeine (hot or cold), cutting back on that and other stimulants may also help. Squeezing the eyelids tightly together for a few seconds and then relaxing gives relief for some people. Others find a gentle massage is helpful.

The flesh moles should be left alone on the eyelids. Most people have them and no, they do not take nourishment from the eyelid itself.

Subj: Laser surgery
Date: 11/13/2005
I would hate to get contact lenses and don’t like wearing glasses. Apart from these exercises (which I will follow avidly) there is only one other option I can think of…laser surgery. What is your opinion on this? I could never afford it but was generally wondering what you thought.

Dip

AskDocWeb: The problem with Laser surgery is that you give up your visual flexibility. Laser surgery improves the vision at only one focal distance. It removes the eye’s ability to focus by welding it to a set focal position. You must choose near or far sight and give up the other.

Subj: Eye glasses
Date: 12/3/2005
I am 21 years old and I have been wearing my glasses for 10 years. The doctor recommended me to wear glasses all the time. Do I have to avoid wearing glasses if I am following the eye exercises?

Jin

AskDocWeb: No, not all the time. Just don’t wear your glasses while doing the eye exercises. The idea is to lean to use your eyes without that crutch.

Subj: Glasses
Date: 12/11/2005
Am using glasses having power of -7.0 (spherical) and -5.0 (cylindrical), corrected vision is 6/12 can exercises help me?

Soumik

AskDocWeb: While we don’t have data for specific conditions, it is certainly worth trying to find out what happens.

Subj: Improve vision naturally?
Date: 12/23/2005
I’m 17 years old. I have myopia. I find it very difficult without glasses, though I have less power and started wearing them just 3 months before. I have lots to study everyday and I strain my eyes a lot. How can I improve my vision naturally? Please send,

Saranya

AskDocWeb: It would be helpful if you could arrange to study in a place that allowed you to see something far away, the farther the better. This will allow you to give your eyes a break by focusing on distant objects occasionally and go a long way in reducing the strain on your eyes.

Subj: Weak eyesight
Date: 12/27/2005
My eyesight is week, up to +5.5. I want to know some exercises to improve my vision. Thanks,

Bilal

AskDocWeb: You can review the basic exercises here or try the Vision For Life exercise kit. It has a number of exercises you can do. If you try it, please share your experience with others here.

Subj: Confirming your hypotheses
Date: 1/19/2006
As a programmer I spend long periods of time looking at a nearby screen. During the last year I noticed my right eye having trouble focusing on far objects, and irregular haloes around point light sources at night. My visual acuity has always been and remains excellent, for example I can read small lettering on distant signs, when I can focus on them. I decided to try going out walking on nearby cliff paths and deliberately focusing on far-away objects. It definitely helps, and focusing ability restores quickly. It degrades again when I don’t take these walks, confirming your hypotheses.

Hi, if you do wear glasses should you do theses exercises with or without them on? Thank you,

David

AskDocWeb: Do the exercises without the glasses.

Subj: Test results
Date: 2/7/2006
It’s now Feb 2006. Has your Vision For Life test been completed? What where/are the results? I’m seriously considering purchasing Orlin Sorensen’s kit, unless you have some super horribly negative results I should know about. Thanks for your website, it’s been very helpful and informative.

Zakiya

AskDocWeb: Completed? No, it had only just started when hacking spammers started attacking our website. For a while it was a full time job just keeping the website on line. No matter how much you dislike spam, imagine spending half your workday dealing with it every day. We come close to hating those nasty people. Sorry about the rant, we hope to get started on the actual testing this summer. If you would like to help with that, read the terms and conditions here.

Subj: Can’t see without help
Date: 2/7/2006
I’m 53, have worn glasses and contacts since I was 16. Can’t see much at all without one of the above. Any hope for me?

Gaynell

AskDocWeb: At 53 you should know that muscle development takes longer but it is still possible.

Subj: Question, not a recommendation!
Date: 3/7/2006
Can you recommend any exercises to strengthen actual eyelids please? I am finding that my right eyelids don’t open quite to the same extent as my left. Incidentally, I’ve never been able to wink with my right eye, does this have anything to do with it?

Kate

AskDocWeb: No it doesn’t have anything to do with it. We are not aware of exercises for the eyelids. Almost everyone’s eyelids are different, one from the other, it’s just the way we are. Not being able to do something does not mean that it is not possible, you just haven’t learned that skill yet.

Subj: Contact lenses, glasses
Date: 9/1/2006
Hello, if you wear contact lenses or glasses do you have to take them off to do the exercises?

Sam

AskDocWeb: You don’t have to remove them but you will get better results if you do.

Subj: Strabismus with extropia
Date: 9/1/2006
My 7 year old daughter has Strabismus with extropia leading to binocular disorder and convergence issues. I have read about quite a few great stories that orthopedics has helped. Can this kit help her. I have already been told by one Dr that she will eventually go blind in her left eye since her brain is turning it off. I am not stopping until I have exhausted my last resort to find a way to repair her eye.

Jennifer

AskDocWeb: That doctor should have added “if nothing is done” to his statement about her going blind. Strabismus is a condition in which the eyes are crossed. There are two kinds of strabismus, paralytic and nonparalytic. Paralytic strabismus results from the inability of the muscles to move the eye because of nerve defects or muscle failure. Nonparalytic Strabismus is a defect in the position of the two eyes in relation to each other. The two eyes cannot be used together and one is used to focus instead of both. Typically treatment consists of covering the strong eye forcing the child to use the weak eye. By 6 years of age, the weak eye has become so weakened that many (like your doctor) consider the sight loss to be permanent. In some cases, eyesight may be straightened by surgery or the use of a purified neurotoxin complex called Botox (Botulium Toxin Type A). To our knowledge, the kit has not yet been tried for strabismus.

Subj: Seeing a difference
Date: 9/10/2006
Thanks for the exercises I am seeing a difference the first time I tried it.
