Subj: Lipo 6 black for her
will lipo 6 black for her make you fail a drug screen?
AskDocWeb: Lipo 6 black for her has not been reported to cause any problems on urine drug tests.
Update: Please see answer for Gyan about Lipo 6 Black Hers diet pills.
I had a cold i took excedrin and dyquil or bendral and my drug test showed i took oxazepam. I never heard about that drug until the drug test came in.
AskDocWeb: Were they testing specifically for the drug oxazepam? That drug is a member of a family of tranquilizers known as benzodiazepines. Oxazepam is sold under the brand names of Alepam, Medopam, Murelax, Noripam, Opamox, Ox-Pam, Purata, Serax, Serepax, Sobril, and Oxascand.
Subj: Failed for opiates
Hi, I recently had to take a drug test for court and i failed for opiated and thc, but ive been sick and been taking varius cough medicines and flu medicines, Ive been taking cheratussin AC, Vicks Nyquil Multi Sypmton Cold/Flu relief liquid caps, and liquid formula, sudifed, midol, naproxin, tylenol, advil, i haven’t been taking these all in one day but over a 2 week period ive been taking them cause im currently attending school full time and working full time, and you please tell me if any othe these would show positive for opiated and thc, the court even send it off to the lab and all they told me was to bring in all the meds i was taking and they would have the laboratory that tested it over video conference to comfirm if any othe those would show positve Thanks,
AskDocWeb: There are several references that say both Midol (Reference 3, 18, 26, and 29) and Advil (Reference 1, 14, 16, 18, 20, 26, and 29) have shown up as false positives for THC. Some cough medicines are formulated with codeine, which can show up as opiates. When you show them what you are taking, it is important to also include any over-the-counter products you are taking.
Subj: False positive for methadone
I want to no if nightquil cough medicinecan couse a false positive for methadone.
AskDocWeb: The only medications reported to show up as methadone are Nyquil, Bentyl, Elavil, Phenergan, Vicks Formula 44M, and antihistamines in general.
Can synthroid make you fail a u/a
AskDocWeb: Synthroid is a thyroid hormone. It does not show up on the standard urine drug test for drugs of abuse.
Subj: Positive for PCP?
I am the medical officer and had a drug screen I conducted on a new employee come back positive for PCP. This guy almost had a myocadial infarc. He had been taking Hydrocodone (tooth) and I read that a preservative in that hydrocodone has been know cause a false positive for PCP. please help me on this one.
AskDocWeb: This is the first we have heard of that possibility. If you could provide the name of the drug test or its manufacturer we could research their list of cross reactants for PCP.
Subj: GC/MS test
Just wanted to know if I popped a false positive for cocaine and pay for a confirmation test (GC/MS), will they only be looking for cocaine? If I used heroine, will that show up or do they specifically have to request the GC/MS tester to look for herone also? Please help..cant sleep i am so scared.
AskDocWeb: The GC/MS test will identify both false positives and true positives, including the heroine.
Subj: Failed a drug screen
me and my wife take tramadol only why did we fail a drug screen as methadone we take tylonol pm at bed time
AskDocWeb: Several of the Tylenol products have been reported to show up on drug screens as drugs of abuse. Remember that you haven’t really failed the drug screen until the results are verified by a confirmation test. If the Tylenol showed up on your drug screen then the confirmation test will show that it was a false positive.
Subj: Tested positive for something
I take Norco, Ultram, Lyrica, Zocor, Estrace, Prilosec, Benadryl Allergy & Sinus, And I tested positive for something in the Morphine family, I am currently trying to get on Suboxone and my doctor thinks I am taking other drugs that I am getting from somebody else and I’m not, can any of these meds listed above cause this?
AskDocWeb: Of the products you list, only the Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) has been reported to cause false positives on urine tests. It has shown up as benzodiazepines, PCP, and tricyclic antidepressants (References 24 and 45), but not morphine.
Subj: Positive for cocaine
I took a saliva drug test Saturday on the 5th and on the 11th of February the lab says I’ve tested positive for cocaine. I never touched the stuff and I don’t use or abuse drugs. I don’t understand what went wrong and my supervisor told me to take a hair follicle test to correct anything if it was a mistake.
Subj: Job is on the line
My husband has to take random drug tests at work. He tested positive for cocaine when he has not used it since 1991. He broke his nose and couldn’t breathe so he needed it realigned. He went to a chiropractor who he had used in the past for massages. The chiropractor put a substance in his nose with a q-tip to numb the area before he put it back in place. Could the numbing substance cause a false positive for cocaine? My husband didn’t think to ask what he was using in his nose. The man who adjusted his nose will not return my husbands calls. His job is on the line and we need help! Thank you
AskDocWeb: Without knowing what substance was used, there is no way to tell if it might have caused a problem with a urine test. Have you tried going to the chiropractor’s office in person? If that doesn’t work then you may have to seek help from an employment attorney.
Subj: Negative on my drug test, however
How would celexa show on an extended toxicology panel? I tested Negative on my drug test. However, it showed small amounts of amphetamines 57ng & cocaine 12ng. Does these low levels normally show in peoples system?
AskDocWeb: Sorry Chrissy, your post is a little confusing. Are you being tested for possible drugs of abuse or are you being tested for possible poisoning from contaminating chemicals? Well, either way amphetamines and cocaine do not normally show up in the human body.
Subj: Amphetamines showed up in my urine!
I’m in school for medical assisting and had a drug test today. Amphetamines showed up in my urine! The only thing I take is welbutrin! Is this common because when I asked the lady she said that it’s not?! I don’t want to lose my career over this.
AskDocWeb: It may not be common but it has happened. Wellbutrin has been reported to show up on urine drug tests as a false positive for amphetamines (References 12, 31, and 32). A GC/MS confirmation test can eliminate this type of false positive.
Subj: Tested positive for amphetamines
I recently tested positive for amphetamines but I do not use drugs. I am however diabetic and take Metformin, Altace for high blood pressure, and recently Nyquil, Robitussin, Imitrix nasal spray. The lab techinician is aware and still continues to state it is positive. I have lost my job. I did agree to pay for further testing. Will that tell what exactly is causing the reading?
AskDocWeb: If the “further testing” means a GC/MS confirmation test and the original urine test was a false positive then you may be able to get your job back. The confirmation test is not designed to tell what is causing a false reading. It is designed to tell exactly what is present in the sample.
I took prednisone just before taking mu random pee in the cup urine. Can predigisone effect accuracy of urine test?
AskDocWeb: Sorry Howard, predigisone is not in our database.
Subj: Positive urinalysis for meth
I produced a positive urinalysis for meth in my drug class last night. I know that I’m a little over 90 days sober (and, I had a negative urinalysis a couple of weeks prior to this); so, I was shocked to find out that it was positive this time. Now, I DID have an asthma attack early Friday morning where I literally could NOT breathe. I had NO inhaler on hand at all. My roommate, who also has asthma DID have an inhaler on hand – it was a Vick’s Inhaler that she’d bought when she was in Georgia. She gave it to me, I used it and it worked. I was able to slowly begin breathing again. Thank God! But, I didn’t even THINK about that until this afternoon after I’d wracked my brain trying to figure out WHY and HOW I could’ve produced a positive piss test for meth when I’m NOT using. That’s the only thing I can think of that I’ve taken in the last week (aside from some OTC cold medicines, which I’m pretty sure couldn’t have done it).
Is it possible that this Vick’s Inhaler could have made me produce a positive urinalysis? And, if so, how do I convince my counselor of this? He is a crusty old guy with the mindset that “there is NO OTC medicine that will cause a positive urinalysis for meth…period.”
AskDocWeb: You might take a close look at references 3, 11, 16, and 18, and decide which ones would most likely convince your counselor. If he is computer literate you may be able to send him the links, otherwise you could try printing out those pages for him. Or you could bypass this issue and just get a GC/MS confirmation test.
Subj: Elemis deep drainage and Elemis cal metab plus
Elemis deep drainage and elemis cal metab plus i tested positive for methadone and have never taken methadone. Is there a chance of these causing a false positive. i also took a supplement called healthy woman for menopause and acai berry cleanse vitamin d3 1000 units and stool softner
AskDocWeb: Sorry Theresa, none of what you list has shown up in the research on false positives. You might check the individual ingredients of those products against this list to see if any of those might account for the positive. What was the name of the stool softener?
