Percocet
Date: 5/4/2012
Hi i am takin percocets is there any way i can test positive for cocaine with that just wanted to no
Momma3
AskDocWeb: Percocet is a combination of acetaminophen and oxycodone. It will test positive (not false) for opiates but not cocaine.
Naproxen
Date: 5/4/2012
i failed my urin test and im wondering if its the naproxen ive been taking they said i tested possitive for amphetamines
Doug
AskDocWeb: Naproxen has shown up on urine tests as a false positive for marijuana but not amphetamines.
Compound 20
Date: 5/5/2012
I’m taking a supplament called compound 20 I was wondering if any of the compounds would cause a fales positive on a U.A. they are N-Coumaroyldopamine & N-caffeoyldopamine Symplocos Racemosa Extract (standardized for triterpenoids
Sean
AskDocWeb: It looks like you are in luck. None of those compounds are on the list of substances that might cause problems with drug testing.
Still coming up positive
Date: 5/5/2012
I use midil for cramps, take soever for headaches and neck pain and naproxen I’m on probation I m still coming up positive for thick its been two months are they allowed to assume its positive if its a false positive would they tell me? What should I do I was a heavy marijuana smoker up until probation.
Laurie
AskDocWeb: When you get a positive drug test result on a urine test, there is no way to know if it is a false positive without additional testing. Until that additional testing takes place you are presumed guilty. Since laws and drug testing procedures vary from place to place answers about your situation should come from someone local. We suggest making good use of your local support groups.
My job could be in jeopardy
Date: 5/6/2012
I was recently notified that my drug screening was positive for THC. I wasn’t given a chance to give a list of medications even though I was trying. I have ran through the list of false positive possibities and can pick 4 off the list right off the bat. Worst part the drug test was ordered by the doctors office that wrote the prescriptions which I buy over the counter by doctors recommendations. If I can I need to clear the possitive THC off my medical record, my job could very well be in jeopardy. Thank you.
Stella
AskDocWeb: It sounds like you need to talk with the prescribing doctor and find out what the procedure is for responding to a false positive test result. Find out if positive tests are confirmed by an independent laboratory. In some cases that is only done at the request of the person being tested and you may have to pay out of pocket for it.
Doctor told me not to worry
Date: 5/6/2012
REcently I went into premature labor due to placenta previa, i lost so much blood before getting to the e.r. i passed out. At the hospital they started me on an iv with demerol, and then they put me completely under with some antisthetic i am not sure what but when I woke up I had a morphine drip. They didnt take my catheter out until later that night and told me the dr. wanted a drug screen, so she dumped the urine from my catheter bag into a specimen cup (i understand this is not the correct way, i was told it should have been withdrawn from the bag with a needle to make the specimen sterile) and then they took the cup away. My dr came in the next day and told me that i tested positive for amphetamines and asked me what i had been taking which was benadryl, and nyquil, plus the percoset and motrin and colace they were giving me every 4 hours. She dismissed it telling me that ok, nyquil can come back as amphetamines, and told me dont worry.
When I left the hospital I was having a hemogolbin level of 7.5 and I should have been at a 12, plus my bp was 93/47…so they sent me home with a script for ibuprofen 80o mg and colace and ferrous sulfate (iron)2 weeks later I am contacted by cps saying the hospital contacted them and told them that i was dirty for opiates and methamphetamine and amphetamines, and that my baby who is still in the nicu was dirty as well. Could any of those mediceines I mentioned produce a false positive?
Susanne
AskDocWeb: Several of your meds are on the list but as you say, you don’t what all they gave you while you were in the hospital. That is something you may need if you are dealing with CPS. The hospital can provide an itemized list but that could take awhile. In the mean time you may want to read Please read “What to do if CPS workers are investigating you.
Triterpenoids
Date: 5/7/2012
N-Coumaroyldopamine & N-caffeoyldopamine Symplocos Racemosa Extract (standardized for triterpenoids would any of these cause a fales positive on a drug test?
Sean
AskDocWeb: Those phytochemicals hacve not shown up in the research on drug testing for drugs of abuse.
Failed for marijuana
Date: 5/7/2012
My son had a car wreck and they found a bottle of whiskey in the car. Which did not belong to him. He was taken to the hospital and he had a broke knee and wrist. Ten days after surgery, he was arrested for the DUI. He was on probation for drugs when they arrested him, his probation officer came and tested him. He failed for marijuna. He had not used drugs in over a year. Could something he was given during surgery have caused him to fail that test? He was on a lot of pain medication.
Peggy
AskDocWeb: While it is possible that something given to him in the hospital might show up as a false positive, it is also unlikely. In our opinion positive urine test results should always be confirmed. Please note that ownership of the whiskey has nothing to do with access to it. Drinks are commonly shared in group situations.
False positive GC/MS test
Date: 5/7/2012
Is it true that certain substances can cause a false positive for thc in a gc/mh? Like b vitamins or that smoking more than a pack of cigarettes a day could raise your level of nano grams in a gc/ms test?
Greyson
AskDocWeb: Although vitamin B2 has shown up on EMIT urine tests as a false positive for THC, the GC/MS correctly eliminates that result. As far as we know, smoking cigarettes raises THC levels ONLY when the cigarettes smoked contain THC.
K2 drug test
Date: 5/8/2012
My son recently tested positive in a K2 drug test (dip test), it was sent to a lab, showed negative for k2, but a trace of something unidentified. He has never used k2. What could show a false/positive in a urine K2 test, any medications, food, etc?
Barb
AskDocWeb: Testing for K2 is relatively new and currently no substances have been identified that would cause a false positive test result.
Lipo 6 Black Ultra Concentrate
Date: 5/8/2012
My boyfriend was talking Lipo 6 Black Ultra Concentrate while living in a halfway house. Can he request a GC/MS test be done and if so, will it identify the ingredient that showed positive for amphetamines?
Erica
AskDocWeb: The GC/MS test does not identify the cause of a false positive. It just confirms or denies the presence of drugs of abuse. Please see “Lipo 6 Black Hers diet pills” on page 178.
Marijuana
Date: 5/8/2012
If my doctor want to see the level of my depakote and haldol medicine on my blood can she see with that result that i’m using mariguana?
Lilia
AskDocWeb: A separate test is needed to detect marijuana however, whenever the possibility of abuse exists, that test may be performed. Marijuana is a Schedule I substance, meaning that its use is federally prohibited. Those who use marijuana for any reason risk criminal prosecution at the federal level.
