Today I took a drug test for probation and I showed positive for thC, methamphetamine and benzodiazapines. I did not take any of these drugs I am currently on a list of other medications protonix remeron vyvanse ambien ventolin hydroxyzine advair promethazine flexeril tramadol buspar subutex. and believe that’s about it but I believe that some of these medications I’m on her are the culprit that triggered the false positives so I can man did that my urine was sent you a laboratory to have further detections and to prove my innocence. Thanks everyone, I hope this helps.

Will zanaflex come up positive on a drug test, tested by Immunoassay?
Jason
AskDocWeb: No, Zanaflex (Tizanidine) is not known to show positive for anything on a urine drug test for drugs of abuse.
Failed urine test for opiates
9/29/2012
I recently failed a urine drug test for opiates. I had used a vicks nasal spray 2/3 days prior and take green tea extract and carnitine in the morning before work (as i did on the morning before the test). I also have some multi seed bread the night before. can any of these so as opiates? The test is going to a lab to get re tested. Will this show that the opiate is not an illegal drug? and does it determine the about? Many thanks
Adam
AskDocWeb: If the multi seed bread contained poppy seeds, which is likely, then that is a possibility. If the lab does a confirmation test then it will be able to tell the difference between dietary causes and the abuse of opiates.
How many false positives?
9/29/2012
I’m taking several prescribed pain meds and ive taken over the counter meds i was court ordered to take a hair follicle test because of allegations of me being on meth … also have post partum depression and taking zoloft how many false positives are going to show up?
Desireemiranda
AskDocWeb: There is no way to determine that ahead of time. You may not have any. Be sure to keep a printed list of everything you are taking on you to show to the individual doing the testing. Good luck!
False positive for Benzo’s?
9/30/2012
I have been showing up as being on benzo’s for two weeks now. I am on the following: Xenadrine Ultra Alta (over the counter fat blocker) Nyquil (which we ruled out by me not taking it for 3 days and still tested positive) Lithium 900mg Somnote 2000mg (for insomnia) Proporonolol (sp?) for anxiety (it’s a non-benzo) Restasis for dry eye. What could be causing it? At this point, we’re down to Xenadrine, Alta, Lithium, Restasis and Somnote cause I’ve come off everything else. Please help!!
Jason
AskDocWeb: If you look at the big list you’ll see that there are about 60 possible causes of a false positive for benzodiazepines. Some of your medications are known to cause false positives but not for benzodiazepines. It may not be possible to identify the specific cause without substituting alternative meds but you can identify what is in your system with a GC/MS confirmation test. Were you testing for drugs prior to two weeks ago? If yes, what did you start taking two weeks ago?
Cyclobenzaprine

Can cyclobenzaprine give a drug test a false positive for marijuana?
Paul
AskDocWeb: We have only one listing for Cyclobenzaprine but that is not for marijuana. According to an article in the American Academy of Pediatrics, Cyclobenzaprine may cause a false positive for Tricyclic Antidepressants (Reference 46).

COC Drug testing program
10/2/2012
The Nursing Board placed me a COC Drug testing program. I am on Amphetamine (Adderall) 20mg every day for ADHD. The First test Hair Stat came back negative. The 2nd and 3rd came back negative. I refilled my prescription with the Generic form D-Amphetamine Salt Combo 20mg from CorePharme for cost effectiveness. My next 2 urine drug screens came back positive for both Amphetamine and Methamphetamine and 97% d-methamphetamine isomers and 3% l-amphetamine isomers by confirmation GCMS for Methamphetamine illicit use. The Nursing Board suspended my License. The only change that occured during that time frame was I changed from Amphetamine (Adderall) to the generic DextroAmphetamine Salt Combo 20mg by CorePharme. I need documentation to prove that the positive result of Methamphetamine was due to changing from Brand Amphetamine (adderall) to the Generic D-Amphetamine Salt Combo 20mg.
STACY
AskDocWeb: According to a Toxicology Lab Technical Brief from Dr. Joseph Graas, Ph.D. (reference 18), Adderall may test positive for methamphetamine as well as amphetamine.
We’ve read several reports from those using Corepharma’s Generic D-Amphetamine Salt Combo that say the difference with other generics for Adderall is disturbing. They were talking about side effects that were so different that it raises questions about whether the chemical composition of this generic amphetamine combo is in fact what it should be or not. While the “generics are bioequivalent” line holds true for most drugs, it does not appear to hold true for all of them. Are you able to send a few of the generic pills from Corepharma’s to an independent lab for GCMS testing? That might produce some of the most solid documentation to prove your point. Good luck Stacy.
Meth from exposure?
10/2/2012
I was tested positive for Meth but, I do not and have never used it. I do believe that I was exposed to a high level of smoke in a small enclosed room. I was unaware of it but, was told that people were smoking meth -cigerette smokers also use this room- is it possible to be tested positive for Meth from just exposure? I’m trying to fight this.
Carol
AskDocWeb: There are several factors would have to be considered in order to give you an answer, such as:
- the purity of the meth being smoked
- the size of the room
- the ventilation of the room (windows open or is it a closed space)
- how long a period of time you stayed in the room
Unfortunately we do not have the technical expertise to answer that. If you can come up with most of the above information, you might try describing your situation to an online Lawyer to find out if you can fight it or not.
Tested positive for PCP
10/2/2012
I recently tested positive for pcp with probabtion, but never have had a positive test before and the one after was neg, I dont buse drugs and am nervous that a change in some medication either rx or otc could have caused it. I take topamax qd, loryna qd, vistaril prn for anxiety, for sleep i alternate between clonidine 2mg or melotonin 10mg, I use a ventolin hfa asthma pump prn, I take ibuprofen on a reg. basis as well as aquagel diuretics from time to time. I also take a daily womens energy and metabolism suppliments from gnc, 400mg of SAM-E, 99mg of potassium, and l-tyrosinen daily. Can any of these or combinations of these bcause a false-positive for pcp??
Mandy
AskDocWeb: Some of your medications are known to cause presumptive positives but not for PCP. Most of the false positives for PCP seem to result from medications that contain diphenhydramine (Benadryl, some Theraflu formulas, Tylenol Simply Sleeps) and from Venlafaxine hydrochloride (Effexor Tablets, Effexor XL). Other products that might show up as PCP on urine drug tests include Diazepam, Doxylamine, Ketamine, and Lamotrigine (Lamictal®).
