What’s the worst that could happen?
My boyfriend has been clean for 49 days and yesterday he got his first positive since hes been with me. im always around him so i know he dont use. hes in drug court and they are telling him if he dont tell them hes using than they are gonna put him in prison. what is the worst that could happen if he lied and told he did mess up?

AskDocWeb: The answer to that would depend on the details of his case. His defense attorney should be able to answer that.

Tested positive for THC
I have tested positive for thc and do not smoke pot. I had teeth pulled and was taking ibuprofen 800 as needed. I need a reply asap today before 230 would really help me alot. Thank you.

AskDocWeb: Sorry Brandi, we are not setup to do instant answers here. Several sources attest to the fact that Ibuprofen may test false positive for Marijuana (THC) (References: 1, 3, 16, 18, 29, and 48). This seems to be one of the most commonly seen errors with urine drug screens.

FRANCISCO Hibiscus Punch Herb Tea
My daughter drinks san Francisco hibiscus punch herbal tea?can this cause a positive benzo on a urine drug screen??

AskDocWeb: We are not familiar with that tea and it appears that the ingredients are not published on the Internet. Do you know what all they put in it?

Can you give me a list of OTC drugs that could test positive for Valium?

AskDocWeb: Sorry John, our database doesn’t list anything that would test false positive for Valium.

Positive for THC?
Had a drug test today for employment and failed. I had surgery in sept for kidney stones and a stint removal. I have been on cipro over 30 days so I dont get any infections. Would this show positive for thc? I do take aleve for headaches. Would this show positive for thc. That is what I failed for and they will be sending this to a lab.

AskDocWeb: Cipro (Ciprofloxacin, Fluoroquinolone antibiotic) has shown up as a false positives for opiates (References:
28, and
32) but not THC. It was more likely to be Aleve (Naproxen), which has shown up as a false positive for THC (marijuana) (References: 3, 16, and 18). If the lab does a confirmation test, they will be able to tell the difference between Aleve and THC.

Positive for the k2
I was given a lab test for k2 on Oct. 22nd. The last time I honestly smoked was Oct. 8th, however my lab test still came back positive for the k2. Is it possible that there were still some sort of “leftovers” in my system. I have a lot to lose on that test, and am trying to figure out what the possibility is, since not much is known about k2.

AskDocWeb: Our best guess is that “leftovers” in your system is a distinct possibility. The length of time that K2 stays in your system depends on which synthetic cannabinoids are in the mixture. This presents a problem because there are currently over 140 synthetic cannabinoids on the market. Because K2 is an unregulated mixture, what you consumed may have been any combination of the 140 different compounds. The lack of data on these compounds makes it impossible to give you an exact answer.

My experience with CPS
I found this page very useful. My children were removed from our custody due to a false positive drug screen. I had no idea how my test produced a false positive until researching. I had a severe kidney infection and had taken Zantac for heart-burn prior to delivery.

Wanted to let mother’s to be know of the possibility of this happening to them. They must know of this possibility and demand their test results. Otherwise, they may lose their children. Mine have been gone for 11 months now. Even though confirmation test was negative, CPS had already got a case within the courts started. Judges do whatever CPS says from my experience. I wish this to become common knowledge for everyone. It could prevent this from happening to another’s family.

AskDocWeb: Thanks for sharing your experience Evelyn. Hopefully spreading the word will help keep other families together.

Herbal tea
My daughter drinks san Francisco hibiscus punch herbal tea?can this cause a positive benzo on a urine drug screen?

AskDocWeb: Many teas are made from a mixture of herbs. For example, if it contains Valerian Root or extract it may cause a false positive for benzodiazepines (Reference: 36). If you can give a list of the ingredients we will check it out for you.

Keep coming back positive for oxycodone
I take a monthly urine test and they keep coming back positive for oxycodone. The meds I am taking are: Amlodipine, Benicar HCT, Citalopram, Methadone, Simvastatin, Testosterone Cipionate and Tricor. Why would I test positive for oxycodone? Could it be the Lab?

AskDocWeb: Repeatedly testing positive for oxycodone is not likely to the fault of the lab. False positives for oxycodone have been reported by those taking Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone (Dilaudid®), and Suboxone (Buprenorphine). Positive results for Oxycodone could also result from taking a medication that contains Oxycodone such as Percodan or Roxicet.

Tested positive for Oxazepam
I recently took a pre employment drug screen for a very important job. I take methadone, as I am enrolled at a clinic, so methadone showed up in my urine, no problem. The confusion is this, the Dr, called and said I also tested positive or oxzapem (i think thats how it is spelled). I do not take that or any other benzos. Can anyone please inform me of what could possibly show up as that? It is a false positive.

AskDocWeb: Oxazepam is a benzodiazepine used to relieve anxiety, including anxiety caused by alcohol withdrawal. As we understand it, standard drug tests do not test specifically for Oxazepam but rather for the general class of benzodiazepines. Since your test result to come back positive for Oxazepam, that makes us wonder if the identification came from a confirmation test. Did it?

What medication(s) can give someone a false postive for suboxone.

AskDocWeb: Our database shows that Suboxone (Buprenorphine) may test false positive for oxycodone (Reference: 54) but it does not list anything that would show up as a false positive for Suboxone.
