I have come up positive for adderrall with my pain Dr for two months. I am on quite a few medications & have recently started taking cold medications. What can cause a false positive for adderrall? I have never touched that drug. Thank you,
AskDocWeb: Our database does not contain any listing for a substance that would show up as Adderall. However, Adderall is an amphetamine and there are 146 possible causes for that. Have you asked them if you can you get a GC/MS confirmation test? That would show if your test result was a false positive or not.
I smoke pcp three time this month…true last time I smoke was Nov 8th and has drug test on Monday of Nov 12 I drinking a lot water and cranberry juice will I pass drug test? And how long will it complete gone after I stop use for 4 days
AskDocWeb: Sorry Rachema, this forum is for those who do NOT abuse drugs.
I’m so happy that I found this site. I didn’t know about confirmation tests. I go to a pain clinic for my arthritis (I can’t take regular drugs made for arthritis pain as I’m on drug thinners). The first test came out false positive for methamphetamine and I’ve never touched the stuff. My next ua was false negative. This has me so stressed. I don’t know what to say to the doctor anymore.
AskDocWeb: The “War on Drugs” has made life difficult for many people in pain clinics. Not just for patients but also for the doctors who prescribe pain medication. There is so much government regulation that they can no longer do a proficient job BECAUSE of it! Unfortunately the amount of government regulation is rapidly increasing so brace yourself for a reduction in the quality of your healthcare.
She may be telling the truth
I came to this site because I was wondering if GRAVOL could show up as a positive for benzos I am on methadone and noticed that someone asked why her ativan wasn’t showing up in her drug screen and you responded that you find it hard to believe they would continue care for so long if she wasn’t taking her meds. I have been on methadone for 3 years and for the first 2, I was on clonazepam that hardly ever showed up in my screens and when it did the doctor would approach me about it and I don’t expect you to believe this but 1 time he asked about it and I had to remind him that HE was the one prescribing them. The college of physicians in Canada says you would need to take 4 mg of clonazepam in a 24 hour period for it to show a positive, Ativan is an even weaker benzo so I think she may be telling the truth.
Celcept and prednisone
I just got word that our office will be given a random drug screen. I have a condition where I take celcept and 40mg of prednisone daily. Do I need to worry about false positives for anything? Thanks
AskDocWeb: Neither of those are known to cause any problems with false positives on drug screens. However, in some situations they test for steroids so you should know that the Prednisone would likely show up.
Tested positive for cocaine
I recently had a urine drug screen and tested positive for cocaine. I am currently taking Herbal supplements… Holy Basil, kava & lat. root, passion flower, bacopa herb, albizia stem bark, lavender flower, and valerian. Can any of these herbal supplements cause a false positive result?
AskDocWeb: Valerian (both root and extract) is known to sometimes cause a false positives for benzodiazepines (Reference 36) but not for cocaine. If you use herbal blends, you might check the ingredients to make sure they contain no cola leaf or cola tea, which has caused a false positive for cocaine.
Monster energy drinks?
I really need to know do monster energy drinks cause a positive for anything on drug tests. I am on probation with random drops and rely on the energy drinks to keep up with the daily living and to do what is asked of me for probation. I haven’t seem to find this answer anywhere online.
AskDocWeb: There are antidotal reports of energy drinks causing false positives but so far we have been unable to locate any documentation to back up those claims. Have you tried emailing customer service to ask the manufacturer?
I’m still not getting an answer anywhere. I would like to know if I would take an occasional skelaxin for muscle spasms would it show up in a random sports physical? I also couldn’t figure out what class of drug skelaxin is to look it up that way either. Since I take a lot of supplements I wonder if they would also escue the results. Got one later today and don’t have my list with me to report all my stuff I take and drink including a variety of energy drinks. thanks,
AskDocWeb: Pharmacologically Skelaxin (Metaxalone) is classified as a skeletal muscle relaxant. The therapeutic class is an autonomic agent. It is not something that they usually test for in standard drug testing however, it may cause a false positive test for urine sugar. As for your supplements and energy drinks, you would need to check the individual ingredients against this list.
CAN TAKING OMEGA 3-6-9 GIVE A FALSE POSITIVE FOR ANYTHING ON A DRUG SCREEN?
AskDocWeb: No, they are okay. None of the omegas show up on drug screens.
I have been going to the Methadone Clinic for almost 4 yrs, & have been clean for that long as well… I have never failed a Urine Test until today….I received a phone call with the horrific news…I failed for Opiates…The only thing i have been taking; due to Severe Toothache is some Tylenol, Advil, I some Arthiriten medication….along with Orajel PM excessively until my Dentist appt. I do no eat Poppy seeds due to a False Postive Before….I am extremley cautious and won’t even take cold medications…i take them every 4 to 6 hrs on the dot….please help I’m going crazy trying to figure out what happen…and there your Guilty until proven innocent…and I recieve 2 weeks take home and don’t have to attend everyday for being drug free…I still am and this will ruin me….. Thanks
AskDocWeb: Some of the pain meds such as Tylenol (both Tylenol 3 and Tylenol 4) and others have been known to show up as opiates. If you have a false positive urine test then getting a GC/MS confirmation test will be able to prove your innocence. Even if you have to pay for the confirmation test out of your own pocket, in our opinion it is worth it.

AskDocWeb: Changing your name does not change your answer. See the post above this one.
