Can Soma cause positive test for alcohol?

Ambien?
Date: 3/21/2013
I took 14 ambien Monday night and had a to take a employment urine screen Thursday morning. I stopped taking Ambien until them. Will this show up on my drug screen? Also my doctor writes my scripts for 10mg x2 nightly since I have such a high immune to it. Thanks!

-Sammy

AskDocWeb: Although Ambien (zolpidem tartrate) is a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic of the imidazopyridine class, it does share some pharmacological properties with the benzodiazepines. According to Dr. Arun Phophalia: “Ambien can give (as a matter of fact all sleep medications) positive test for benzodiazepines.” Hopefully you disclosed the fact that you have used Ambien so that it could be factored into the results.

Please note that an overdose of Ambien can be fatal when it is taken together with other medications that can cause drowsiness. Overdose symptoms may include sleepiness, confusion, shallow breathing, feeling light-headed, fainting, or coma.

AskDocWeb: Neurontin is not known to cause false positives on urine drug tests for drugs of abuse.

Problem with methadone clinic
Date: 3/22/2013
I go to a methadone clinic and have recently tested positive for temazepam, Oxazepam, and neprezam? I do take several meds which are, adderall, diazepam, cylixa, sudafed and benadril occosionally, would these make me test posotive for temezapam or Oxazepam? I am quite upset and they dont want to listen?

Christine

AskDocWeb: The legal consequences of the clinic making a mistake are so horrendous that most clinics have to put their survival above the interests of their patients. Government regulations discourage them from listening to objections from patients about drug test results. For that you can thank those people who support the War on Drugs. The only argument that they are likely to accept is the results of a GC/MS confirmation test. Unfortunately that is not always an option. If it is an option for you then go for it. Even if they make you pay for it, it is worth it to clear your record.

I failed for benzodiazepine
Date: 3/22/2013
I recently took a drug test for my probation. I dont do any drugs but i constantly drink energy drinks such as red bull, monster, rockstar, and i love the 5 hour energy shots. I also have taken a few ibuprofen 800mg for when i would get a headache. When I took my drug screen i failed for benzodiazepine. What could cause me to fail for this?

Ashley

AskDocWeb: There are several dozen possible causes of a false positive for benzodiazepine. None of what you posted is on the list but you might check it for other things you might be taking.

Lupus and Ra
Date: 3/23/2013
I have a false postive thc due to immune suppression drugs I take for Lupus and Ra. Please provide me with reacher?

Lois

AskDocWeb: Hum, not sure what you are asking for, Lois. If you believe that your test result was a false positive then what is recommended is the additional testing of a confirmation test, usually a GC/MS test, which must be performed on the original sample.

Lorazepam?
Date: 3/24/2013
I recently had a drug test given to me for pre employment and build it for a false positive for THC and I do not use marijuana. I heard 1 of the medications I take lorazpam can give you a false positive is this true?

Daniel

AskDocWeb: Lorazepam (trademarked as Ativan) contains benzodiazepines so it would show up on a urine drug test but it does not cause false positives for THC.

AskDocWeb: If your sample contains DMAA and not amphetamine then the confirmation test from the lab will come back negative.

Xylene or acetone positive for alcohol?
Date: 3/24/2013
I recently had an EtG that came back a false positive. I had 8 other random EtG’s that all came back negative for alcohol. I have done nothing unusually different during this time. I do not drink. I am on probation and respect my requirements of abstaining from the consumption of alcohol. The only thing I have been exposed to was a project at work which required the use of an Xylene and Acetone spray paint. The project required the painting of several items over a 3 day period of time in a poorly ventilated area. At the end of every day there was paint particles in my nasal hairs and the same with my colleagues. I am trying to determine if this paint product containing the xylene and acetone caused my false positive. Your response is greatly appreciated.

Drake

AskDocWeb: Your test result may have been the result of exposure to acetone(nail polish remover). Acetone is one of the metabolites of alcohol and shows up on EtG tests.
