Date: 6/13/2006
I am looking to take either Zantac or Buscozol(buscopan) for a bout of Acid Reflux. I am an athlete and get regularly drugs tested. I have read that Zantac can show as positive amphetamine on a drugs test. Could it be the same for Buscopan? Thanks for your help.
Lauren
AskDocWeb: Buscopan is a brand name of Butylscopolamine. It is not known to show up as amphetamine on urine drug tests for drugs of abuse. However there are well over a hundred other possible causes for an amphetamine false positive urine test so you may want to get a confirmation test.

Yeast infections
Date: 6/14/2006
can a urin test show positive for beer if you havee a severe yeast infection?
Karen
AskDocWeb: Yes, yeast infections are known to cause positive results on both the EtG and EtS tests. Alcohol testing is subject to false positives for those with diabetics, those with a yeast infection, even after the consumption of yeast and sugar (2010). Since it was common knowledge among brewers that yeast produces alcohol this effect was named “auto-brewery syndrome.”

I had a positive ets for alcohol and did not drink any alcohol. I’m taking effexor, ultram, pamelor and percocets for depression and a pinched nerve in my neck. How could this happen? The ets cutoff is 100ng and my test showed 168? Any ideas? Also, I heard that if you have a yeast infection this could cause it too?
Violet
AskDocWeb: Yes, see the answer for Karen above.

Positive negative positive
Date: 6/19/2006
Can a GCMS analysis be done to show if there was any use of marijuana that day that it tested positive? I had a high level of THC on 5/13, neg on 6/3/2013 and then positive on 6/11. How can it be negative and then positive when THC stays in they system for 45-90 days after quitting?
Sandy
AskDocWeb: The most likely reason is exposure to THC between the second and third test. The GCMS analysis does not identify a specific day that the exposure took place. It can only quantify how much was in the sample at the time of the test.

2nd hand exposure?
Date: 6/22/2006
I am on probation so i am mandated to wear a drug patch. My patch came positive for opiates/herion, when i never use that. Is it possible because my boyfriend uses and i have unprotected sex with him thats why my results came back positive? Or just being around the drug can cause a positive?
Patricia
AskDocWeb: It takes more than just being around someone who uses drugs in order to test positive on a drug test. In most cases it takes physical contact, which of course does increase your chances of exposure to the illegal drugs.
