Subj: Female loosing hair
Date: 9/29/2006
I am 53 years old female and loosing my hair. I have tried dht shampoos but they are not effective. Do you have any suggestions. This is causing me alot of mental stress. Thank you.

Jo

AskDocWeb: It would be helpful to know why you are loosing hair. You could consult with a dermatologist to find out but their standard reply about this seems to be Rogaine for women.

Subj: Dutasteride over Finasteride?
Date: 10/3/2006
Do you recommend using Dutasteride (Avodart /Avolve) for hair loss over Finasteride.

Porgiamor

AskDocWeb: No, we don’t recommend the use of any drugs.

Subj: Kevis products suck
Date: 10/4/2006
Kevis products suck really really bad. I used them correcly and I’m more bold than ever. Using the produce required me to rub the product on my scalp and when I did so it yanked all the hair out without making it regrow. The result a bold head. Do not buy Kevis it does not work. FYI… DO NOT BUY KEVIS!!!

Subj: Ayurveda?
Date: 10/4/2006
What information can you give me about a hair loss product called Ayurveda? This is supposed to work for men and women both. Thank you

Pamela

AskDocWeb: We’re not sure about a specific product called Ayurveda but there is a wholistic system of medicine called Ayurveda in India. In Ayurveda, hair is considered to be a byproduct of bone formation. They think that the tissue responsible for building bones is also responsible for the growth of hair. In India hair loss is treated with a combination of diet, herbs, massage, meditation, aromatherapy, breathing and yoga to pacify your pitta. What’s a pitta you ask? That’s the body’s energy of action and heat that is made up of the two elements, fire and water. The closer we look at this the worse it gets so we are going to stop now, okay?

Subj: Oral propecia with Aldactone?
Date: 10/5/2006
I am a 33 year old female suffering from high free testosterone causing hair loss. I was prescribed propecia by my doctor and was wondering if I could take oral propecia with Aldactone.

Stephanie

AskDocWeb: Only if your doctor says that you can safely take them together. Remember our primary purpose here is to share information about side effects. We do not give medical advice.

Subj: Provillus
Date: 10/6/2006
Will you be reviewing a product for hair loss treatment called provillus. If so, when will you have information on this site regarding this product? Thanks.

Matt

AskDocWeb: At this point we are just collecting
feedback on Provillus.

Subj: Scam
Date: 10/11/2006
Megathik shampoo is 100% a scam!!!

A&W

Subj: Nisim
Date: 10/11/2006
Just wanted to say that this is one of the few sites I actually trust…thinking about purchasing nisim has there been a verdict on its effectiveness?

A&W

AskDocWeb: It’s a good product and until we find something better, it’s the only shampoo for hairloss that we recommend.

Subj: Thymuskin
Date: 10/13/2006
I just purchased Thymuskin and today used it for the first time. It is very expensive …$187.00 for shampoo and hair treatment. Please tell me why you believe this product is no good. I choose it after reviewing many products online. I saw good reviews. I thought in the long run it would be worth it as hair would grow and you can discontinue use unlike minoxidil that you have to use forever. It’s hard to know what is real and what is a scam. Please help!

Joanne

AskDocWeb: Our opinion of Thymuskin is based on the feedback from those who have tried it. About a dozen people say it’s a waste of money and one report of dishonest business practices (confirmed).

Subj: Procede
Date: 10/21/2006
Hey, are you guys gonna review Procede? I’ve been looking them up like I did Avacor but I can’t find good REVIEWS.

Christopher

AskDocWeb: If there is enough interest we may do that but Procede is a cosmetic product. It makes the hair “appear” thicker which puts it in the same category as the paint that some people spray on their head, just a cover up.

Update: There is now a review page for Procede.

Subj: Recommendation for thinning hair?
Date: 10/24/2006
Hi I am 25 and has started to have thinning hair at the crown of my head. A few years back I had color damage in that spot is there anything that you recommend to start regrowth?

Candi

AskDocWeb: Have your had the damaged evaluated by a dermatologist? They would likely recommend minoxidil to stimulate the hair growth.

Subj: Loosing hair
Date: 10/26/2006
Hello! I do not have insurance right now, and I am loosing ALOT of hair. My hair has always been very thick and within the past year, it has been falling out more and more, and now I am to the point to where I want to cry every time I have to wash or brush my hair because I know that I am just going to loose more. My scalp is also very dry and flaky. What can I do? I need to speak with a doctor, but I have no idea where to start.

Amanda

AskDocWeb: The type of doctor you need for hair loss is a dermatologist. Yes, hair loss is a skin problem. Check this page for any meds you may be taking that could be causing your hair loss. If you’re taking one of those meds, ask your doctor for an alternative. Anything you can do to reduce the amount of stress would probably help. And make sure you are eating a balanced diet because vitamin deficiency can also cause hair loss. The most often prescribed product for female hair loss is Minoxidil.

Subj: Phentermine hair loss
Date: 10/29/2006
I have recently lost a massive amount of my hair from the diet drug Phentermine. I can now see my scalp 2″ from hair line, and that is almost gone as well. The entire rest is just shedding like crazy, and thinner than the day before. Please advise on anything that will help re grow this hair. I am a 37 year female and I am horrified. Please help. Thank you,

Beth

AskDocWeb: Wow, we haven’t heard of hair loss this bad from Phentermine before. We would be horrified too. With hair loss this serious you should consult with a doctor to rule out the possibility of other problems such as a thyroid disorder.

Subj: Regenix
Date: 11/2/2006
I am using regenix without any regrowth. Any feedback or comments from other users or tests? Thank you,

David

AskDocWeb: Yes, but the feedback on Regenix has not been good. The company says you have to use it for 90 days before you see results but their guarantee is only good for 30 days. What does that tell you?

Subj: RE-MOX
Date: 11/12/2006
I noticed most of the feedback on your hair loss review pages are dated 2003. Are you still around? If you are, have you research RE-MOX or know anything about it? Thank you for your assistance.

Mic

AskDocWeb: Yes, we’re still around. When you get to the bottom of a page you have to click on “read more feedback” to go to the next page.

If you read the details on Re-Mox you’ll see that they use up to 15% Minoxidil in their hair loss products. That’s a lot when it comes to a drug known to lower blood pressure. And it has other side effects too. As with any medication, the higher the dose the worse the side effects, both in number and severity.

Subj: Kevis
Date: 11/20/2006
I wanted to know your opinion of Kevis. I spoke with a customer service rep (very hard sell). I have moderate to severe loss at 41 years of age, mostly to the mid scalp and temple region. They recommended I do the program 3x/wk with two ‘enzyme boosters’. Have you heard of anyone having success with this product? They sound legit and very convincing.

Anthony

AskDocWeb: That just means your salesman was good at his job. So far there have been 3 reports from users and all 3 said it was a waste of money.

Subj: Remember guys!
Date: 11/25/2006
It IS OK and NORMAL to lose hair on the scalp. If you are over 40 and worrying about hair loss, please check your insecurities in life. If you are over 40 and have more hair in your ear and nose than on your scalp, it is absolutely time to take a good cruise, spend more time with your loved ones and save as much as possible for your child’s education. Spending money on hair-growth enhancers is just as ridiculous as spending money on penile enlargement “tools”. Don’t forget a sharp haircut even if you have thinning hair. Minoxidil will give you a stuffy nose and make you act goofy in the daytime. DO NOT use it. Please get a life guys!
