Subj: Hairloss and PE?
Date: 7/18/2004
Hey, I just sent an email asking about stopping rogaine and wanted to add one other thing that might help you in you procerin study. Before going to the dermatologist who prescribed the combination treatment of propecia and rogaine, I saw your website and tried one bottle of procerin. I didn’t encounter any hair regrowth (though might have been too soon to tell) so I didn’t order another bottle. I did find that my allergies were somewhat worse while taking it (might have been some of those flower herbs since I have very bad allergies to pollen and grass and that sort of thing) and that I was more fatigued (might not have been from procerin though).

Now for my question: I was looking on the section of your website concerning PE pills and noticed that saw pawmento (the active ingredient in procerin) is also one of the two active ingredients in one of the most successful PE pills. Could procerin be used to combat hairloss and for PE? And have you heard of any negative feedback from people using propecia and/or procerin and a PE supplement like vigrex or extagen? Thanks, I think this website it great, as there is so much misinformation out there about these types of drugs.

Chris

AskDocWeb: Just because they share a common ingredient is no reason to believe the effects will be the same. It is the combination of ingredients that achieves the effect. However, there are no reports of probelms from those using both prodicts.

Subj: RegenePlex
Date: 7/19/2004
Hi, Do you have any information on RegenePlex? (A new hair growth product)

Ralph

AskDocWeb: Yes, we looked at RegenePlex several months ago. All we’ll say is that we do not recommend them.

Subj: Hair Genesis
Date: 7/31/2004
What about hairgenesis? Good, bad, doesn’t work?

Joe

AskDocWeb: Answer update 5/25/07: HairGenesis is not recommended.

Subj: Hair transplantation
Date: 8/1/2004
I am an 25yr old guy having hair loss problem since 18. I am almost baldy guy now. I thought about going for hair transplantation with bosley medicals or someone else. What is your opinion on hair transplantation? Thank you for your time,

Kishor

AskDocWeb: Hair transplants have come a long way in the past few years but, they are still very expensive and results are not always acceptable. If you can afford it and decide to go that route, we recommend talking to at least two satisfied customers (in person so you can see their hair) before making your decision.

Subj: Best hair restoration product?
Date: 8/9/2004
Question: For receding hairline, what would be the best hair restoration product, especially for the thinning hair on both sides of my hairline? Also, what product works better, Propecia or procerin? Thanks,

Francisco

AskDocWeb: The best hair restoration product for you would depend on several things including age, sex, physical health, and if you are currently trying to father a child.
Propecia is a prescription drug (approved by the FDA) that prevents hair loss in about 80% of men who us it, but it has sexual side effects. Procerin is a non-prescription herbal product for hair loss that we are still checking out. The FDA has no approval process for herbal products. If your hair loss is just caused by stress or a vitamin deficiency then Advecia may help. We are still collecting information on hair loss product and as of this moment, we have no recommendation other than to try one and let us know how it goes.

Subj: Saini Herbal
Date: 8/20/2004
Hi, do you know of a product called “Saini Herbal”? It’s a herbal product and claims 2 stop hairloss/dandruff and regrow hair. Is it legitimate? Thanks

Ali

AskDocWeb: It seems to be a product out of India. We have no data on it.

Subj: Shedding lasted 4 weeks
Date: 9/12/2004
Taking Procerin now for over 3 months. Increased shedding after 6 weeks for about 4 weeks. Still losing between 6 and 20 hair every day after showering. Changed from Proscar to Procerin because reduced sex drive but does encounter the same effect with Procerin. Hair looks thicker but don’t notice any regrow…except om stomach, breast, arms and leggs. I am not bold but thinking more and more about hair transplant before hair loss is getting worse and it becomes too late. I’m completing the Procerin with acupuncture tratment and intake of Ayurvedic herbs.

Subj: HairGenesis
Date: 11/17/2004
Hi, I’d like to know if you have any study results of a product called HairGenesis. If so, how does it compare with Procerin? I’ve tried Avacor with little results, except once I stopped using it I seemed to quickly loose more hair. My main concern is with the front section of my scalp. BTW, you have a great web site.

Michael

AskDocWeb: We don’t have any study results for HairGenesis but we are getting enough requests for information to start a page just for them

Subj: Sexual side effects with Minoxidil?
Date: 11/18/2004
My question is if “minoxidil causes decrease in your sexual drive as propicia does. Thank you

Claudio

AskDocWeb: According the the Mayo Medical Clinic, if too much minoxidil is absorbed through the skin this may result in overdose, which could produce sexual problems.

Subj: Rogaine and hairline
Date: 12/28/2004
Why is Rogaine only supposed to be used on the top of the scalp and not the hairline? When I looked at the directions it says it’s not for a receding hairline. Does the Rogaine not have any effect on a hairline?

Mario

AskDocWeb: You are correct. Rogaine does not have any affect on the hairline.

Subj: Success with Rogaine
Date: 1/6/2005
I am 58 and have some remarkable success with rogaine, complete regrowth 10 years ago on a bald head. Stopped using 7 years until 6 months ago, completely bald on top and back with pics. Rogaiene helped but, still thin. Rogaine going to use me for ads by my dermatologist recommendation because of extreme success before ads allowed.

Mike

AskDocWeb: Congratulations Mike.

Subj: Nisim Biofactors
Date: 1/11/2005
Does Nisim Biofactors hair loss treatment work?

Jay

AskDocWeb: We are taking a look at it now so if you try it, let us know.

Subj: Rogaine and front hair line
Date: 1/12/2005
First of all thanks very much to this site! Because I live in Turkey and we can’t ask this question anyone except some of selected doctors. Although they are really expensive.

I am 23 years old and have thinning and hair loss on my frontline. I am using propecia for 3 months and newly started to Rogaine %5 extra strength. Whenever I started to use Rogaine %5 (1 week a go) I see that hair loss increased(on my frontline), I mean shedding. What should I do? Continue or give a break for the Rogaine?

Also, I learned that Rogaine is not for the frontline. But the important point is if it is not working for the frontline or it is bad for the frontline? Because if it is not working my hair could become normal after I give up this product. But if it is bad for my hair it is really very bad thing for me. So the question is Rogaine is bad or not working or what else for the “frontline”.

Mert

AskDocWeb: Although it is not bad for you, Rogaine will not help your frontline, only the top of your head. I would discontinue the use of Rogaine and find out what the Propecia does.

Subj: Proscar
Date: 1/12/2005
I’ve been looking into hairloss treatments and came across a drug called Proscar. From what I understand it is the exact same thing as Propecia except It comes in 5mg pills instead of 1mg. It seems that alot of men are buying Proscar and cutting the pills into 4 or 5 pieces because this is alot cheaper than Propecia. I’m way too broke to be able to afford Propecia at this point but I’m 26 and my hair is really starting to thin so I wanted to see what you guys think about Proscar. Thanks alot,

Johnny

AskDocWeb: There is a serious concern about birth defects in children born to women who absorb this drug through the skin while they are pregnant. Both Propecia and Proscar (same thing except for dosage) have a coating that is intended to reduce this possibility. If you cut the pills, you expose the contents and increase the danger of contamination.

Subj: Regrowing hair after chemo
Date: 1/15/2005
Hi, It’s been 10 months since I finished chemo and my hair won’t grow but on the sides and the top(and that’s only about a half of inch). I am literally bald in the back and middle of my head. This is devastating. What do you think of Thymuskin? Is there anything that may be beneficial to me? Thank you for your response.

Chyna

AskDocWeb: Your scalp will slowly recover the ability to grow hair but it is going to take time. You are only now getting to the place where you can expect it to start growing normally. Have patients and it should come back. Feedback from people that have used Thymuskin indicate that it is not worth trying. Are you taking a vitamin complex specifically designed for hair growth like Advecia?

Subj: Follicare
Date: 1/16/2005
Dear Doctor: Have you conducted any evaluation of a product called Follicare. Follicare is marketed as a hair re-growth product for males. It appears similar to Avacor. Your site is so informative! Thank you,

Paramjit

AskDocWeb: We have not evaluated Follicare and currently have no plans to do so. If you do try someting new for hair loss, please share your experience with others here.

Subj: Procerin plus Advecia?
Date: 1/20/2005
Hi,I have a question would it be safe to take Procerin/Advecia together ? and would I get good results doing so?

Smokery

AskDocWeb: Yes, you can take Procerin and Advecia together. This would seem to improve your chances of getting good results. Remember to come back and share your results.

Subj: Rubbish
Date: 2/3/2005
After using minoxidil 15 per cent for 3 years I can confidently say it is rubbish. Also rubbish is proscar, although I only used it for one year. Proscar, 1 mg. tabs cost nearly 3 dollars each in Australia, but can be purchased in Egypt for 27 cents each, and may be effective if taken for a couple of years. Hair transplants are the only real solution.

Kevin

Subj: Cheapest and best hair regrowth product
Date: 2/3/2005
What is the cheapest and best hair regrowth product out there?, is it Rogaine, bosley…etc? If you could let me know that would be great!

Matt.

AskDocWeb: With the current state of the marketplace, the cheapest and the best product are two different things. The least expensive, effective product would be Rogaine. The most effective product is the prescription drug Propecia. And that is not cheap.
