Segals Solutions

I am in great favour of segals solutions from canada..dis combo works greatly on androgenatic alopecia…i have many patients ..it works on d same mechanism as finasteride work or as minoxidil does…wat do u think…far superior than nasim n revivogen

Dr.M

AskDocWeb: We think that if you are using a translator program then you need an upgrade because the one you are using now is really bad. It is almost as bad as the Segals Solutions website. Shame on you for getting our hopes up. After spending just 2 minutes on their website our BS meter was pegged in the red.

1. Contrary to what it says on their website, no product is 100% effective.

2. How can you be sure that a product is 100% safe if they don’t tell you what is in it? Maybe they have never heard of an allergic reaction.

3. And as for their product being convenient? We don’t think that most people would consider it convenient to leave a lotion on their scalp for 6 to 8 hours.

Should I continue or quit?
Date: 11/23/2011
I’m using kirk minoxidil 5 percent for nearly 4 months now and it have slowed down the process of hair loss consideribly but no signs of hair regrowth. Can I continue it cause it says on the instructions that if the hairs dont regrow in 4 months than stop using it just want to ask if i should continue it or quit using it after 4 months. Thanks.

Eddie

AskDocWeb: It sounds like you are asking if you should follow the directions or not. If it isn’t working then continuing to use it is a waste of time and money. If it is working then stopping use is likely to result in increased hair loss for a few months. It’s your decision.

What products will help without long term effects?
Date: 11/26/2011
Hi I’m black American, I use a no lye-relaxer at a salon & get it cut & generally I’m told I have nice hair. After outting my hair in braids (a one off) it became weaker & thinner, so I wanted to get it back somewhat to what it was… I have shoulder length hair/never coloured & saw nisim-fast & boseley starter kits/for chemical treated hair… I brought bosley at the salon & my hair started coming out & I was itchhing…should I take it back & what shampoo/hair products could I use? I do have patches 1 on each side of the front of my hair – what shampoos should I buy & what products will help without long term effects? as some as soon as you stop taking it you hair goes back to what it was.

Chan

AskDocWeb: We would take the Boseley kit back to the salon along with a complaint about the hair loss and itching. Since you have patches it may be a good idea to check with a dermatologist to eliminate the possibility of a pathogen. Now for the good news. You may be pleased to hear that there are a considerable number of people who have spontaneous recovery from patchy hair loss without using any kind of treatment. In most cases the hair grows back after a few months to a year.

Questions about Provillus Vs Procerin
Date: 12/9/2011
Provillus and Procerin. I have a few questions about them and I would appreciate if you answer all of them, it is really important to me.

1. would I get hair regrowth if I use the provillus capsules only? or is hair regrowth comes from the serum?

2. Between provillus capsules only *without the serum*, and procerin tablets with the foam, which would be more beneficial for stopping hair thinning and regrowth of the hair?

D

AskDocWeb: Answer to question number one: The regrowth of hair has been reported to occur with both the capsules alone and with the serum alone. This is one of the reasons why they made the combined product offering to improve the results. However, neither product alone, nor the combined products have been reported to work for everyone. You have a better chance of getting good results if both products are used together.

Answer to question number two: For effectiveness we would choose Procerin with the foam. However, I have a personal aversion to using topical products. For me it would be too messy and time consuming but that’s up to you.

21 year old boy

Hello sir, I am 21yrs old boy and I am getting little hire lose on my top scalp. And so 4 this what should I do. Please answer!

Rakesh

AskDocWeb: Hair loss at that age may be caused by a medical condition. We suggest you have your doctor do a physical examination to check for possible causes.

Blame it on the dog
Date: 12/12/2011
Hello, Are there any known viruses, bacteria or disease that is passed from dog to human ( e.g by kissing a dog on their mouth, or just catching ), that can cause hair loss (scalp and eyebrows ) in humans?

Peter

AskDocWeb: Our first thought was rabies, which is why it is so important to vaccinate your pet. However, you then qualified it by limiting the criteria to hair loss. That simplifies things. Please note that there are a number of bacterium, virus, and parasites that can be transmitted to humans from animals in addition to the ones discussed here. Most dog diseases usually aren’t transmitted to humans (zoonotic) but here are a few that might cause hair loss.

Mange in dogs include demodectic mange and sarcoptic mange. Demodectic mange is caused by Demodex canis, also known as demodicosis live in small numbers in the sebaceous glands and hair follicles. Signs include hair loss, redness, and scaling, and is contagious to humans! Sarcoptic mange is caused by Sarcoptes scabiei canis. The mites can be transmitted by direct contact between dogs and humans. These mites can also lead to secondary bacterial infections such as fever, lethargy, and enlarged lymph nodes. Dogs can be carriers with no signs. Because the mites can live for three weeks off the host, contaminated environmental surfaces, furniture, carpets, grooming tools, and bedding can be a source of mite exposure for humans.

Ringworm is a fungal skin disease that in dogs is caused by Microsporum canis (70%), Microsporum gypseum (20%), and Trichophyton mentagrophytes (10%). People can become infected with canine ringworm caused by the fungal organism Microsporum canis through contact with an infected dog. Symptoms in humans include itching, scaly skin, hair loss and possibly “ring-like” skin rashes. People tend to develop skin lesions in distinct, raised circular patterns. The periphery of the circle may have redness, crusting, and scaling. The ring gets larger as the disease progresses. The number of rings can vary. Typical signs in dogs include hair loss and scaly skin.

And last but not least, fleas. Fleas are not classified as a disease but they can cause hair loss. The most common flea in dogs is the cat flea, Ctenocephalides felis, followed by the dog flea, C. canis.

Shedding effect
Date: 12/12/2011
I’ve read that the hair loss products might cause shedding of the hair for a certain period of time. I have a question concerning that matter, I only started to lose hair recently, I still have a good amount of hair, if I start using one of the products and go through shedding, would the same hair that has been shed grow back with the same color and strength? Or does the hair that grows after the shedding is weaker and with lighter color? Thank you.

G

AskDocWeb: Typically the hair shed when the product is first used grows back with the same color and better strength. However, that varies with the product and sometimes the individual. For example minoxidil has been reported to alter hair color in a small percentage of users. What product are you considering?

Provillus or procerin
Date: 12/14/2011
I recently asking you a question about shedding effect and you asked me what product I am considering. To answer your question I am considering provillus or procerin. I hope you can give me more info regarding the shedding effect they cause and the hair that comes afterwards.

G

AskDocWeb: The majority of men experience no increased shedding with either product. Only 14% of men using Procerin complained of increased shedding when first starting treatment so chances are good that that will not be a problem.

Saw Palmetto
Date: 12/19/2011
Hey. I’m interested in trying provillus, I noticed that each capsule contain 1000mg of saw palmetto, and the daily dosage of provillus from what I understand is 3 capsules, which is 3000 mg each day. I would like to know if that is not too much of saw palmetto and if such dosage (3000 mg daily) could possibly cause sexual side effects like erectile dysfunction and so. Thank you.

John

AskDocWeb: Actually the effect of saw palmetto is more the opposite. The Native American Indians used saw palmetto to increase sexual vigor (aphrodisiac) and by women to firm the breasts.

ACell/PRP injections
Date: 12/26/2011
Hello. I have been thinking about taking propecia but decided its not worth the side effects. So instead I am getting ACELL/PRP injections and I want to supplement that with something. And that leads me to ask 2 questions: 1) I was thinking using Nisim shampoo along with either Provillus or Procerin but cannot decide which. Which one has shown to be more effective/ which would you suggest, Provillus or Procerin? 2) Would you suggest Nisim shampoo along with Provillus or Procerin? Thank you.

Evrim

AskDocWeb: We haven’t seen much difference between the results of Provillus and Procerin. However, we would use the Nisim shampoo with either one. It’s your call. By the way, are they going to use stem cells from another part of your body with your treatment? That may improve results because the local stem cells in your scalp may have been damaged by the hormone shift that resulted in your hair loss in the first place. Hope it goes well for you.

For those unfamiliar with ACell/PRP injections: Acell is a new aqueous based solution developed by Hitzig and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Amiya Prasad. Acell recruits stem cells in the scalp and uses those stem cells to rebuild the surrounding tissue. PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. This combination acts like a hair growth accelerator. The new application process allows doctors to evenly apply ACell to the open grafts wounds and protect the grafts in scar tissue. Many hair transplant patients experience significant hair re-growth sooner and the wound where donor hair is taken completely heals with little or no signs of scarring.
