Stem cells
Date: 12/28/2011
To follow up from before. The stem cells are going to be taken from my blood. The injections will help regrow some of the hair and thicken up the hair that I have existing. It will also help the hair be a little more resistant to DHT(eventually though they will still fall out. Think of the injections as a reset, it will regrow some of the fallen hair but again this hair is not very DHT resistant. So if I want later on down the road, I’ll probably go the transplant route). I still have a decent amount of hair so as long as I can maintain what I have and regrow even 30-40% back. I will be very happy as this will pretty much cover all the opening regions in my hair. I’ll be starting my treatment in 2 weeks. Ill take pictures and Ill update my status 6 months later. I hope this regimen works so I can suggest it to everyone as it doesn’t require extensive surgery or any libido killing drugs.
I tried to post this on the website but kept getting an error. I hope that this is added as it presents another option people can look into. Hopefully I can get great results and it will give hope to others.

Does testosterone stimulate hair growth?
Date: 1/13/2012
What if any benefits are known about boost in testosterone relating to stimulating hair growth.
Mark
AskDocWeb: Up to a certain point testosterone stimulates hair growth. However, at a certain level, which varies with the individual, excess testosterone is converted into DHT, which is thought to cause hair loss on the scalp. It seems that hair growth and hair loss goes hand in hand. Testosterone may cause your beard to grow faster at the same time that it decreases your scalp hair.
19 year old losing hair
Date: 1/24/2012
Hello, I am a 19 year old boy. Since the age of 16 I have started losing hair from my scalp eyelashes and eyebrows at a appreciable rate but the problem is it doesn’t seem to grow back. I have been using mintop 2% for the past four months but to no avail. Due to career tensions am really stressed so is that a reason? What should I do? I am in for any kind of non-surgical treatment..Please help.
Shreyans
AskDocWeb: Stress is one cause of hair loss but there are also medical conditions that need to be considered before you can get an appropriate treatment. Depending on the cause of your hair loss, Mintop can increase the hair loss. Please consult with your doctor for a medical evaluation.
Chinese herb Fo Ti
Date: 1/24/2012
Do you guys heard of the Chinese herb Fo Ti (also known as He Shou Wu) for stopping hair loss and regrowing hair? Thanks!
Georgia
AskDocWeb: The Chinese name for “Fo Ti” is “He Shou Wu.” Its pharmaceutical name is Radix Polygonum multiflorum. Here in the West it is sometimes called Polygoni Multiflori. The Chinese use it as a longevity tonic to prolong life, alleviate insomnia, prevent premature hair loss, reverse color loss in graying hair, and other uses. While there are many claims about the benefits of Fo Ti there is little clinical research to back up those claims.
At a meeting of the Endocrine Society, Dr. Karen Klein said that, “The ancient Chinese herb fo-ti has estradol-like activity in laboratory tests.” This indicates that fo-ti may have potential as a natural alternative to estrogen replacement therapy. This estrogen raising effect “may” make it useful for women’s hair loss but we would not recommend it for men.
Follinex
Date: 2/17/2012
Follinex. I am confused as to why a Dr and a Nurse cannot find the ingredients to Follinex. I found it in about 3 seconds using a simple search. I have also tried to find the Dr. etc and realize that parts probably a bunch of you know what but my friend is using it and having great results.
Pat
AskDocWeb: You are likely referring to the 2005 post about not finding the ingredients in Follinex. Back then that data was unpublished. In 2007 that subject was revisited after they started publishing their ingredients. Things do change over time and it is important to keep that in mind while reading comments about any product or company. Including your post the ratio of pro to con feedback is still three to one against using Follinex.
Premature ejaculation
Date: 3/20/2012
Hello, I have a question about premature ejaculation pills such as Delay and Duramale, they work by increasing the level of testosterone, does this mean that more DHT can be produced and thus leading to more hair loss for people who are sensitive to DHT? Also, how safe are these products? Thanks,
Rachad
AskDocWeb: First let’s say that we have little faith that such products are worth the high cost that they charge. Think about it. If the ingredients in those products were really effective then the pharmaceutical companies would be involved in developing them but they are not so…consider that.
Both products contain Tribulus Terrestris, which is used to help restore the body’s natural production of testosterone. If more testosterone is produced then you are right, it could lead to more DHT and hair loss.
Best product for hair lost
Date: 3/22/2012
Hi: I am confused to choose the best product for hair lost (dht blocker) would you please give me advice for good shampoo and tablet thanks.
Kathy
AskDocWeb: Hi Kathy, welcome to the forum. You need to know that women lose hair for reasons other than the ones that cause male hair loss. That’s why there are special formulas for women’s hair loss. Our current recommendation is for the Provillus complete solution and for a shampoo to support hair growth get Nisim Biofactors.
