Good shampoo, laser hair comb?
8/2/2012
Hi, Can I use Mintop 10 Foam (minoxidil topical foam 10%), Xgain shampoo by cipla and tressgro lotion by prosit together? Or should I just stick to Mintop? Which is a good shampoo available in India which will not become a barrier of this treatment and will also help in getting rid of dandruff? Is laser hair comb helpful? If yes, which is a good option? Will keeping short hair help?

Pushpak

AskDocWeb: The only shampoo we have seen that is designed to work with hair loss products is Nisim and they ship worldwide. For products available in India, hopefully someone who lives there can make a recommendation. We live in the U.S.A. and it is impossible to keep up with all the products made in other countries.

Embarrassing problem
8/12/2012
Hello, I have a really embarrassing problem. I have hair growth on my chest and back. I am Male, 29 Year old. But I have a receding hairline and thus have had a Hair Transplantation done. But the medication of Minioxidil and Finpecia, I understand will increase Hair Growth in the Receding hairline areas. My Question:

1) Could I take this medication without worrying about EXCESS and Thicker hair growth on chest and back areas?

2) Could I opt for a Permanent Hair removal Laser technique sometime? How effective is it? I really want to get rid of my chest and back hair completely!! PLEASE HELP!!! Sincerely

Aloke

AskDocWeb: Your understanding about hair growth in the hairline may be in error regarding Minoxidil and Finpecia. Although those two products have helped in some cases, most people do not see results in those areas when using those products.

In question 1, when you say “this medication” which medication is that?

The effectiveness of laser hair removal depends on several characteristics of the individual. Skin type, thickness of the skin, hair type, and pigment are all factors that can determine the efficacy of that technique. There is data to suggest that laser treatment is effective for hair removal but the long-term effects are still unknown. For other options see how to get rid of hair.

Har Vokse
9/19/2012
Hi. I really like your site. I was wondering if you have ever heard of the product Har Vokse? If you have, does it really work and can both men and women use it? Thanks

Laurel

AskDocWeb: Good catch on a new product. Thanks Laurel! It looks like they just opened for business in February of this year. We took a look at their website and it appears that they have come up with a combination approach using fish proteins known as Marine Polysaccharides., amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and herbs. Here is their ingredient list:

They claim to have clinical studies that show it produces significant regrowth in 90% of participants. Since your post is the first about this product we invite users to share their results. Does it really work? Let’s hear from users.

Revivigen?
9/27/2012
Hi. I had two questions for you. What do you think of the products from Revivigen? Have you had much feedback from others about it? Also, what about castor oil? Do you know if that helps to regrow hair or if it has the properties to stop DHT from developing on the scalp? Thanks.

Laurel

AskDocWeb: Since we were unable to locate a product called Revivigen we are going to assume that you meant Revivogen, which has its own forum but there is only a few posts so far.

The healing components of Castor oil work well at treating mild to moderate hair loss for some but it is a bit messy. It seems to do more for the quality of the hair you have now rather than the growth of new hair. The essential fatty acids in the oil helps maintain strength, fullness, and shine. Castor oil is easily absorbed into the hair shaft, eliminating the dryness and brittleness that leads to hair breakage. Castor oil contains a high concentration of Ricinoleic acid, an anti-fungal and anti-bacteria properties that are effective in treating some scalp conditions. This prevents the onset of dandruff, scalp infection and scalp inflammation, which contribute to hair loss. Hair loss can be a warning sign of internal health factors so consult with your doctor at the first signs of unusual hair loss.

Acupuncture treatment for hair loss?
10/20/2012
Hi, I am Tina, working here in Hong Kong. Is acupuncture treatment might help my hair lost? If it is, how long will i see the improvement? Thank you so much.

Tina

AskDocWeb: The response to acupuncture varies significantly between people and depends on the cause and degree of their hair loss. There are many antidotal reports of success but so far we have seen no clinical research to quantify results. However, that raises another problem.

Clinical research on acupuncture poses unique methodologic challenges. According to practitioners, acupuncture works on the principle of employing needles to energize certain points in the body. How do you set up a double blind trial when the treatment involves needles? What does the placebo group get to make them believe that they received the treatment? Do you see the problem?

AskDocWeb: Headaches are listed as possible side effects of Minokem, especially in patients taking antihypertensive medication. If you are taking a med for blood pressure, discuss this with your doctor. Hair Loss 27 28 29Page 30 31 32 33 Last page 40
