Does follinex work? I’m 21 with receding hairline and thinning at the hairline. I use Biota Botanicals shampoo and serum and it worked fine for months but I got Lazy and lost hair again. Can you tell me anything about follinex? I haven’t found any reviews on here. Thanks.
Adam
AskDocWeb: Since their website wasn’t telling what the ingredients were in their product, a reader wrote to customer service. Here is Follinex responce. Several consumers have reported no improvement, even after using 6 bottles but we have received no positive reviews for that product.

AskDocWeb: White flakes of skin that come off of the scalp is usually dandruff. However if you have white spots in your scalp, that could be something else and may need your doctor’s evaluation to be on the safe side.

AskDocWeb: For several reasons it would be a good idea to consult with a dermatologist for an examination. If your hair is falling out because of bacteria, a fungus or something larger you may need additional treatment.
Thin fine short hair
Date: 9/7/2013
i am an athlete and have always had problems since a child growing it out fast due to constant and daily washing.(that has stopped not, i wash every 4 days) i have a history of balding on my dads side and long thick native american hair from my moms side. idk if it is hereditary but i have thin fine short and a little bit of hair shoulder length. I NEED to find a cure or way to grow my hair out faster and if possibly thicken it. is rogaine or bosley right for me? I’ve tried shampoos, supplements, serums, oils EVERYTHING nothing seems to work. SERIOUS HELP NEEDED! OUT OF HOPE!
Thin and fine
AskDocWeb: Well there is cure, however, there are treatments as long as you understand that you have to use a treatment for hair loss continuously in order to keep the benefits. We would give Rogaine a try for at least 6 months before considering Bosley because of the expense.
Minoxin 5%
Date: 9/11/2013
Hi. I want to know whether Minoxin 5% really works? I am not seeing many notes on it from its benifitted users. 2nd, if it works, how long it can help you to sustain ur hair? How many years it is suggested to be used?
Amir
AskDocWeb: The active ingredient in Minoxin 5% is Minoxidil and this forum is about that product. At the conclusion of a 48-week study, improvements were seen in the vertex of the scalp of 51% of men using 5% minoxidil, 42% using 2% minoxidil, and 13% of placebo users. Among the men who showed improvement, moderate to great increases in hair growth were seen in the frontal scalp regions of 19% of men using 5% minoxidil, 10% using 2% minoxidil, and 3% of placebo users. Add that up and you have about a 1 in 5 chance of getting great results. If you get a result that you like, you have to continue using the product to keep that result. Once you stop using it the hair that this product caused to grow will fall out.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)
Date: 9/17/2013
I am considering to carryout PRP session for my hair loss. It is requested to kindly provide me your opinion. My doctor, who has been operating it more than two years says it is wonderful and would surely proved a rather less time consuming activity for your hair loss and regrowth with no side effects what so ever.
Muhammad
AskDocWeb: PRP is an acronym for platelet-rich plasma. Other names for PRP include:
- Platelet Enriched Plasma
- Platelet Rich Concentrate
- Autologous Platelet Gel
- Platelet Releasate
- Vampire Cure
The plasma is assumed to act as a “fertilizer” for the hair follicle. The procedure involves extracting a patient’s blood, separating the platlets with a centrifuge and then injecting them directly into the follicle. The data we have says that there are no major side-effects. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine it is safe, cheap, and non-allergic and it appears to be a useful adjuvant in the management of androgenetic alopecia.
Vitamin to grow hair
Date: 9/24/2013
I have had some hair lost answer ball spots in certain areas of my head. I have taken this medication for over a year. What type of vitamin should i take to grow my hair back.
West
AskDocWeb: Hair loss can occur if the diet is inadequate in the vitamin B6, biotin, inositol, folic acid and minerals like magnesium, sulfur and zinc. The B vitamins, especially B5 (Pantothenic acid and B3 (niacin), are especially important for hair growth. On the other hand, taking large doses of vitamin A (100,000 IU or more daily) for a long period of time can cause hair loss, but stopping does reverse that problem.
