Subj: RegenePlex

Hi, just wondering if you have heard of or know anything about RegenePlex… Thanks in advance,

Brett(Age 42)

AskDocWeb: We do not recommend them.

Subj: Hair loss questions
Date: 3/12/2006
How do I know what type of hair loss I am suffering from?? Why would alcohol be in a hair regenerating product, I thought alcohol was bad for hair thus causing hair loss?

Derek

AskDocWeb: To find out what type of hair loss you have, your scalp will need to be examined by a dermatologist. And as for alcohol in a hair loss product, if it is taken internally there is no problem. Topical solutions may be another story.

Subj: Procede and Follicare
Date: 3/15/2006
Sir, I’ve been looking into Procede and Follicare products. Have you seen any “real” medical proof that either of these products work as they claim? Thank you for the help.

Randy

AskDocWeb: We have not found any yet but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, just not likely.

Subj: FDA approval?
Date: 3/15/2006
Hi, I recently saw paid programming for Scalpmed to regrow hair or start in about 2 months. It boasts FDA approval. Can you send me email information. And if it is not FDA approved is it legal to say it is approved?

Barbara

AskDocWeb: The exact wording of such ads seems to be an art form, saying one thing while implying another. Using FDA approved advertising or an FDA approved ingredient is not the same thing as a FDA approved product. What we have a problem with is that they don’t tell us what’s in it and that’s bad news if you are allergic to one of the ingredients.

Subj: Melancor
Date: 3/15/2006
Could you tell me if Melancor is a reliable product to use? My daughter who is only 14 has been going grey prematurely which has been hereditary in our family, but I’m concerned about whether this product is too good to be true or is suitable for her age group. Thank you for reading.

Rebecca

AskDocWeb: We called their toll free number back in 2004 to find out more about them. The woman who answered the phone (she sounded elderly) told us about her husband using it. She gave the impression that this is a “Mom and Pop” business run from their home. Google gives their website a zero rating of importance, perhaps because they haven’t updated their website in a year and a half. Until we hear different, it’s on the too good to be true list.

Subj: Frustrating
Date: 3/21/2006
If propecia and rogaine aren’t for the hairline then what the hell can be used for the hairline? excuse my language but this is just getting frustrating. I plan on using propecia for the top of my head and but what am I gonna do to save my hairline? And why exactly is rogaine not for the hairline?

Joe

AskDocWeb: You would have to ask the manufacturer for the exact reason why Rogaine is not for a receding hairline but that is what the directions say. It is likely that it has to do with A, it doesn’t work there, or B, people are growing hair on their forehead. It’s more likely A of course. We sympathize with your frustration and if you find something that works well for the hairline, tell us about it and we will share it with other readers.

Subj: Kevis
Date: 3/23/2006
What do you know about the hair treatment Kevis?

Ken

AskDocWeb: We have no feedback good or bad about their product.

Subj: Stress and nutrition problems
Date: 3/25/2006
I have been masturbating from many years & have become bald from sides of forehead. Two others reasons for my hair fall are: 1. tension (Stress) 2. nutrition problems. I am giving myself a balanced diet now-a-days but the problem of hair-fall is not stopping. I have stopped masturbating also. Please give proper solution for this problem.

Jatin

AskDocWeb: When dealing with both stress and nutrition problems together, we suggest you try Advecia.

Subj: Want chest hair back
Date: 3/26/2006
I shaved my chest years ago and it hasn’t grown back. I want it back, is there anything I can do or take? Thanks,

Sean

AskDocWeb: Although there’s only one in five chance of success, we suggest you try Rogaine from your local drug store.

Subj: Low Level Laser Therapy for hair regrowth
Date: 3/30/2006
Have you got any studies on this treatment or companies(Hair Max) providing products of this sort. Thanks

Shawn

AskDocWeb: Not yet but if you have experience with them, please share it with us.

Subj: Kevis feedback
Date: 4/1/2006
I have used Kevis FAITHFULLY for a year, including their booster system, and it was worthless. I have female pattern hereditary baldness. They have a very hard sell, claim studies have been done “in Europe” and make many false promises when they are trying to sell their product.

Beth

Subj: Upset 17 year old
Date: 4/4/2006
Hi I’m Leon, I had like no hair near the temple ‘similar to a receded hairline’ but I’m only 17…is there anything I can do? It’s embarrassing when my hair is blown in the wind. It’s upsetting 🙁

Leon

AskDocWeb: Sorry Leon, but at the age of 17, we can’t recommend anything for you.

Subj: Confused
Date: 4/5/2006
Your site is very informative, but I am a little confused after reading through this section. I see in here multiple times that nothing can be done for a receding hair line, so does that mean propecia only works on the crown and if I take propecia my thinning hair may halt on the crown and top of head, but my thinning will continue at my hair line?

Tom

AskDocWeb: Yes, you hairline is likely to continue to receding if you take Propecia. Although it helps some men, there is not sufficient evidence to say that Propecia works on the receding hairline in the temporal areas.

Subj: Cure for hair loss
Date: 4/13/2006
There should be a cure soon, the FDA is a joke, a fraud. I honestly believe there is a natural cure for our hair problems, but the FDA wants to make money so they wont tell us, if you get the chance read Kevin trudeaus natural cures book. Also if you’re looking for a cheap thickening shampoo Vives is great.

RW

AskDocWeb: We read that book and it was a disappointment. It seems to be a collection of fringe element thinking and for the most part, does a disservice to the public. It looks like the only thing that book serves is to put money in the pocket of Kevin Trudeau.

Subj: “saw palmetto” Daily value
Date: 4/19/2006
Hi, I am using procerin hoping to reduce the rate of hairloss. I saw that it is mainly “saw palmetto” and each serving has 1500 mg. I read at some places in internet that the recommended daily value is 320-330 mb. So can you tell me if it can cause any problem by the excessive intake of the “saw palmetto”. I also want to let you know I am using vig-Rx. The other question I have is – what is your recommendation to treat hyper-pigmentation? Thanks

Sam

AskDocWeb: If you are taking too much saw palmetto it will upset your stomach. For hyperpigmentation (unusual darkening of the skin) we suggest you visit your local drugstore for a fade cream. Find one that has Hydroquinone as the active ingredient such as Palmer’s Skin Success. It has the added advantage of containing a sunscreen, which you need since the Hydroquinone makes your skin sun sensitive.

Subj: Mintop
Date: 4/22/2006
I would like to know the effectiveness of Mintop (0.05% Minoxidil) on hair growth?

Pankaj

AskDocWeb: You have about a one in five chance that it will work for you.

Subj: Hairloss product Provillus
Date: 4/23/2006
Hi, I am wondering if you have any information on the hairloss product Provillus. It appears that the ingredient mixture is very similar to Procerin (reviewed on the site), but it has a 6 month guarantee as opposed to 2. Any information you may have on the product would be appreciated. Thanks!

Derek

AskDocWeb: According to feedback, the manufacturer of Procerin says that Provillus is a copycat product. By the way, Procerin has a 3-month guarantee not 2.

Subj: Provillus
Date: 4/26/2006
Hello, can you tell me if you have had any feed back or reviews on another product by the name of PROVILLUS?

Tom

AskDocWeb: There is not enough feedback from users yet. If you try it, let us know what you think.

Subj: Hair loss products
Date: 5/1/2006
I was wondering if Procede works for thinning hair or male pattern baldness. Or, if any product really works for regrowing hair in men. I am trying to find out for a friend. Are all these products basically shampoos, fancy conditioners, or scams? Do the medicine types work, without side effects, such as the ones that block Dihydrotestosterone production? Thanks,

Pam

AskDocWeb: All medicine types have side effects. We suggest you read some of the feedback from users about the effectiveness and side effects of these products.

Subj: Viviscal
Date: 5/16/2006
Hi , I am 35 year old female and I lost my hair from front only, I am using Viviscal supplement now and I have complete one month only. My question is do you think Viviscal is a good supplement for hair loss? Is there any much better supplements than Vivscal?

Nada

AskDocWeb: It has both good and bad comments from users. Please let us know if it works for you. Other women would also like to know if it works.

Subj: Best shampoo for hair loss
Date: 5/25/2006
Hello, I am 33 years old male who is currently experiencing hair loss. I just purchased a 3 months supply of Procerin and hope it will work for me, the question that I have is, what is the best shampoo you can use while taking Procerin? I heard that Folica is a good product, what do you think of that? Please help me.

Saleh

AskDocWeb: Remember that this website is about product reviews. Rather than making a suggestion we will take a look at whatever you suggest, in this case Folica. We’ll let you know after checking it out.

Subj: Other hair loss products?
Date: 5/25/2006
I don’t know if you’ve heard of it but I’ve been looking into products and found these for hair growth. Wondering if you can or will test these out or if you have any information that works. Hairgenesis, Hairtopia, Advecia, or Provillus the other things today?

The other question is if the hair has stopped falling out well then can people quit taking the pills for the rest of their lives or will it start to fall out again?

Eli

AskDocWeb: If you stop using any hair loss product, your hair loss will resume. We are collecting feedback from users on each of the products you mention.
Hairgenesis and Advecia have pages just for those products, the others will get space when more feedback is received.
