Subj: Restoration Hair Serum
Date: 5/27/2006
Can you please tell me about the safety and effectiveness of Restoration Hair Serum? I purchased off the website because it stated it had clinical testing/results, was all natural, yet when I read the bottle, it too said to stop use and see a doctor if you get chest pain, rapid heartbeat, faintness or dizziness. I haven’t used the product for fear that it would hurt my heart and am wondering what you think about this product.

It is a serum/shampoo combination. The serum includes: Hydrocityle asiatica ext., Eclipta alba ext., Cyprus scariosus, Chefulic Myroflan, Urtica dioca ext., Allium cepa, Nardostachys jatamansi, Hibiscuc, Sesamum oil, Groundnut oil, Clove oil, Light liquid parafin oil, (and) BHT. The shampoo includes: Pilocarrpus Jaborandi, Actium Lappa, Nordostachys jatamansi, Ocimum Santum, Centella asiatica, Azadirachta indica, rosa indica, SLES, Cocobetin, Cocodiethanolamide, Methyl paraben Na, Propyle paraben, Na, Cocomonoethanolamide, Ethylene Glycol Mono Stearate, Propylene Glycol, Citric acid, Sodium Chloride, Silicone Conditioner, De-Ionosed Water, Colour, Perfume, Propylene glycol.

This product claims to be all natural but I do not know if it is safe or not. The first product sent to your home comes with a 100% 1-year money back guarantee (with shipping receipt) And then autoships the shampoo every month and this product is not applicable for refund.

PLEASE let me know your opinion of the safety and if the ingredients in this product are harmful or not. Thank you – and have a blessed day.

Ann

AskDocWeb: It sounds like they misrepresented their product and you caught it, good for you. Restoration Hair Serum sounds like a scam. It’s a good idea to use a search engine to find out what people are saying about any product that you are considering buying. A search for “Restoration Hair Serum” did not produce a single website for that product. At a minimum you would expect to see the company that sells it but not this time. That’s a bad sign by itself. And we are always wary of any company that autoships (and bills) every month. That type of practice surprises a lot of people and is used by many scammers.

Subj: Product in Bangladesh
Date: 5/27/2006
I want this product in Bangladesh by pay order because I don’t have credit cards, please advice in this regards.

Sanjay

AskDocWeb: You need to contact the customer service department of the business that sells the product you want to buy.

Subj: Worried about hair loss
Date: 6/6/2006
Hello everyone. I am a 24 year old man and have noticed more scalp on my head than usual over the past month and 1/2. I’m very worried about this. I spoke to my doctor and a dermatologist as well. I normally get a crew cut which is short on the sides and more on the top. My barber informed me that he is also noticing the pattern. I have no family history of hair loss/balding. My doctor says it could be a “normal” hair loss cycle that we all go through and should be growing back, but slowly? Has anyone heard of such a thing? The reason I’m asking is that I’ve read over and over that the earlier you start treating hair loss the more success you might see. If I have no family history, should I be worried?

Youngone

AskDocWeb: With no history of hair loss in your family we would take a look at the possible causes to find out if anything can be done there. If you wait too long, your hair loss may be permanent.

Subj: Wheat germ oil for hair growth?
Date: 6/12/2006
My Daughter is losing hair she is only in her 30’s . She is a beautiful girl and I want to do something to help her. I heard of Wheat germ oil to help hair growth. I don’t know were to get it. Also can she take it with the Thymuskin and Advecia? Please contact me . We need help asap. Time is running out.

Brenda

AskDocWeb: Yes, she can take it with Advecia. You can find wheat germ oil in a health food store. We prefer Nisim Biofactors over Thymuskin but using a shampoo that supports hair growth makes good sense.

Subj: RK19
Date: 6/20/2006
Are you familiar with the product called RK19. I have been using it for about 2 years and my hair loss stopped and new hair has started to regrow. This is encouraging because I begin losing my hair over 20 years ago and had lost all my hair on top. The scalp tenderness a symptom of DHS inflammation has stopped.

Al

AskDocWeb: RK19 appears to be a collection of vitamins. There has been no feedback on them.

Subj: Propecia with provillus?
Date: 6/27/2006
Can I use propecia and provillus at the same time?

George

AskDocWeb: One person has reported a problem doing that but we are still waiting to hear how they came out. Right now we don’t recommend it.

Subj: Ancient Indian recipe
Date: 6/27/2006
The website herbalhairsolution.com advertises an ancient Indian recipe that grows hair. Do you know whether or not this a scam or legitimate hair loss remedy? Sincerely,

Larry

AskDocWeb: We’ve not seen that one before. Let us know if you try it.

Subj: Procede?
Date: 6/28/2006
How successful is this new hair growth product called Procede? Thanks to your website I have changed my mind about ordering Avacor since I have read their are in court for fraud and false advertisement. Now there is this new hair growth product Procede that you only apply every 90 days. If anyone has been a consumer of this product I would love to hear what their think of it and what this website understand about it.

Larry

AskDocWeb: Just by watching their commercials it appears to be a cosmetic product designed to thicken the individual hairs you already have, not to grow anything new. It is suppose to make your hair appear thicker. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Subj: Female hair loss treatment?
Date: 6/28/2006
I’ve been taking propecia for about 8 months now and have had great results. It took about 6 months before I was noticing the difference, I feel my hair is thicker and have lots of baby hairs (not fuzz, but hair) all around my hair line, I have had no side effects to speak of. I’m very pleased, and I’m also a woman. Why do they say propecia has no effect on women, when clearly it does? Thanks you for the great site, and your right, propecia isn’t cheap, but in my opinion it’s worth it. (I pay $70 for a 30 day supply)

Jayne

AskDocWeb: They are concerned about possible birth defects if you get pregnant. If there is no chance of that then it isn’t an issue.

Subj: Hair loss at 20
Date: 7/4/2006
Hi, I’m 20 and recently noticed that some hair near the parting is looking less dense than it used to but I’m not 100% sure. Furthermore, adding to my concern, I seem to be loosing not only long hairs but also smaller weaker ones, is this normal?

I don’t notice any receeding hairline though but I’m wondering if this could be DHT related. Would Rogaine be a good option if my hair is really thinning?

Joe

AskDocWeb: This sounds like normal hair loss. And yes you can use Rogaine, but some have complained about the way it makes their hair look greasy. If it is DHT related we recommend you try Provillus.

Subj: Provillus for men?
Date: 7/8/2006
What about provillus for men? Can this product prevent hairloss and help new hair regrowth at the front of the scalp?

Thanasis

AskDocWeb: There hasn’t been enough feedback to say one way or the other for Provillus. A few men have reported good results with it but a couple of guys have said it was a copycat product of Procerin. However, they do not have exactly the same ingredients.

Subj: 30 year old man
Date: 7/14/2006
I am 30 years old man. I noticed that my front hair getting thin. Please advise me, thank you.

Laafto

AskDocWeb: Ideally you would visit a dermatologist to find the cause of your hair loss and then go with whatever he recommends. If that is too expensive then start with the lowest cost (simple) solution like Minoxidil (Rogaine). If you don’t want to mess with that goo then try Provillus and let us know your results.

Subj: Confused
Date: 7/17/2006
I’m confused–before going to your sight there is a statement “To date, we would not recommend any of the products we checked for female hair loss. …” yet once on the sight you have information about ADVECIA and give it high ratings without addressing “for females” Can you supply more information – I’m assuming it is not recommended for females? Why?

Shelle

AskDocWeb: “To Date” means, at the time that was written. Since then several women have reported good results with Advecia. According to their web site, both men and women can use this product but we like to hear from users before making a recommendation. Try it and let us know if you like the results you get.

Subj: Hair loss treatment
Date: 7/21/2006
Do you know anything about Provillus hair loss treatment. It seems to be better ranked than Advecia. One important question, does the hair loss start again after stopping treatment? Thanks.

Ken

AskDocWeb: Yes, all the hair loss treatments on the market share that same drawback. If you want continued results, you have to keep using them.

Subj: Nourkin hair loss treatments
Date: 7/21/2006
I would really appreciate any feed back or reviews on Nourkin hair loss treatment tablets, shampoo, lotion, etc. It is expensive but it is an easier method then rograine which requires application on scalp at 12 hour intervals impossible to maintain for a woman with longer style much easier for a male with short hair. I suffer from androgenetic alpoecia. I have started nourkin tablets today and will continue as I did not have any adverse reaction as I sometimes am prone to because of allergies. Many thanks. Please, what do you think of hair transplants?

Ursula

AskDocWeb: We will have to check them out and get back to you later on that.

Subj: Stopping Minoxidil for pregnancy
Date: 7/26/2006
I am a 38 year old female with thinning hair. I have used minoxidil for men for several years and have had great success. However, I plan on getting pregnant this year and need to find safe and effective treatment for my thinning hair for pregnant women during this time. How long should I cease use of minoxidil before trying to get pregnant?

Mary

AskDocWeb: We’ve not seen any recommended time for this. The safest course is to stop using Minoxidil when you start planning on becoming pregnant.
