Subj: Hair loss product for women?
Date: 7/30/2006
At 45 my hair loss is incredible, I don’t have bald spots yet, but it seems it might happen, is there a hair loss product for women?
Letitia
AskDocWeb: Yes, there are several, some more convenient than others. Advecia and Provillus are both products that can be used by women. Rogaine for Women is a topical you apply twice a day. That takes a lot more effort.
Subj: No results with Dr. Lewnberg’s Formula
Date: 7/31/2006
I have been using Dr. Lewnberg’s Formula off and on for a year now with no results to brag about, but have you heard anything about it? Also your recommendations on rogaine. Thanks,
Melanie
AskDocWeb: We have nothing on Dr. Lewnberg’s Formula. The Rogaine for Women comes with a few warnings not the least of which is that it is flammable. Some other things that you may not hear in the commercials are:
- When using this product some people have experienced changes in hair color and/or texture.
- You may need to use this product 2 times a day for at least 4 months before you see results.
- Do not use if you do not know the reason for your hair loss.
- Do not use if your scalp is red, inflamed, infected, irritated, or painful.
- Do not use if you use other medicines on the scalp.
When using this product, stop use and talk to a doctor if you experience any of the following:
- chest pain, rapid heartbeat, faintness, or dizziness occurs
- sudden, unexplained weight gain
- your hands or feet swell
- unwanted facial hair growth
- if you do not see hair regrowth in 4 months
Subj: Nisim shampoo
Date: 8/8/2006
I have been using Nisim shampoo for a week now…. female….general thinning due to menopause etc. Instant results on this shampoo. After only 3 days, HUGE improvement in my usual shedding… it just stopped!! Great stuff I say, I have now ordered the lotion, and have also started Viviscal tabs recently. Has anyone else had results with either of these products? Thanks a lot.
Sandra
Subj: Shedding
Date: 8/9/2006
I am 45 years old and I just started using Procerin for hair loss about 10 days ago. Since then I have noticed more hair loss. I read one of the reviews that said it is a good sign that the product is effective. Is it true? Thanks for your help.
RP
AskDocWeb: Yes, that seems to be the case. Several men have reported going through a shedding phase before their hair began to thicken. This shedding has also been reported with other hair loss products, even with the drug Propecia.
Subj: MiN
Date: 8/21/2006
Do you have any feedback about the DHT blocking shampoo “MiN”?
Mark
AskDocWeb: Sorry, there is no feedback on MiN.
Subj: Fabao
Date: 8/21/2006
Ok I’m 22 years old and I’m loosing my hair specially in the front. I’m sure that this comes from my family history since everyone is bald on my family. I think I’m still on time to do something. Does prepecia work with family history? And I also wanted to know if fabao works or if you have heard of it? Thank you!
Raul
AskDocWeb: Yes, we have heard about Fabao, they are a Canadian business that sells Thymuskin. Propecia has been known to help with those who have a family history of hair loss.
Subj: Hair loss at 24
Date: 8/22/2006
Hi, I am planning to buy product like Procerin or Provillus but I cannot whether it will be suitable for me or not. I am 24 now and when I went inside the web of this product they mentioned that I have to use this product for life time. Is it good for taking pills from this age? Can you suggest some other medicine? Thanks.
Peter
AskDocWeb: Maybe you could help with the research on Advecia. It’s a new hair loss product that is suppose to work for both men and women.
Subj: Question about hair loss shampoo
Date: 8/26/2006
Hello, I am wondering if you might be able to give me some feedback on question I have. I don’t know if you’re familiar with Dr. Proctor and his Nano shampoo? It is supposedly a growth inhibitor. I decided to order a bottle and try it out. I really haven’t had any results besides a little bit of a thickening effect on my hair. I have been reading up on the product Procerin on your website and am very interested. I am 22 and have started thinning around the crown and hairline. I am wondering if I discontinue the use of the Nano shampoo, will it increase my amount of shedding? Also, should I wait for a while after discontinuing to start using Procerin? Any advice you may be able to give me would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.
Scott
AskDocWeb: You don’t need to wait for any period of time after discontinuing the Nano to start using Procerin. Nano shampoo is a cosmetic product designed to make your hair appear thicker. We would rather use a shampoo that actually helps, like Nisim Biofactors.
Subj: Provillus in UK?
Date: 8/30/2006
Hi, where can I buy provillus in UK, London aria what I mean is it possible to buy directly in shop, over the counter, thank you.
H
AskDocWeb: We haven’t heard of it being available over-the-counter anywhere. You can only buy it on-line
Subj: Hair loss from Accutane
Date: 9/2/2006
I am a 28-year-old woman who has hair loss as a result of taking Accutane. I have tried Curetage and Thymuskin and neither product worked for me. What products are effective for Accutane hair loss?
Erin
AskDocWeb: Rogaine for Women is probably the number one product used. Some women have used Propecia but that is not recommended for women of childbearing age because of the possibility of birth defects.
Subj: Accutane hair loss
Date: 9/3/2006
Hi, I am a 28-year-old woman with hair loss resulting from taking Accutane for acne. I took two courses of the drug. The most recent course was taken 7 years ago. I have tried Thymuskin and Curetage, and neither product worked for me. I am hesitant to take anything with Saw Palmetto because of the risk of birth defects. What products do you recommend for Accutane hair loss?
Erin
AskDocWeb: Up until the time you are actually trying to get pregnant something like minoxidil (Rogaine for Women) be okay but talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. The Nisim hair loss shampoo may also help.
Subj: Saw palmetto
Date: 9/6/2006
I’m 59, moderate hair loss, on hormone replacement therapy. Can women take saw palmetto?
Jean
AskDocWeb: You need to discuss this with your doctor to get an answer specific to your situation. Saw Palmetto will affect hormone levels.
Subj: Provillus – Advecia
Date: 9/12/2006
I would like to know about Provillus, Does the product prevent from hair loss and regrows new hair. If you can tell with percent about the defectiveness. The same question about advecia. Thank you,
Vasil
AskDocWeb: We can’t give a percentage for Provillus because it is new. As for Advecia, the research study is just getting started.
Subj: Scalpmed
Date: 9/14/2006
Hi, I just have a question regarding scalpmed. I’ve been using this product for a month now & noticed more shedding every time I use it, so I decided not to use it for two days & noticed less shedding. Is this normal? Or am I just wasting my money on this product.
Ken
AskDocWeb: Scalpmed is not recommended.
Subj: Recommendation for 22 year old?
Date: 9/17/2006
Hi, I am 22 years old and have a receding hairline. Which products would you recommend for someone like me? The receding isn’t horrible, but I can imagine it will get there soon enough so I’d rather prevent it before it gets there.
Ryan
AskDocWeb: At this point, the only recommendations we have are Provillus and a shampoo for hair loss.
Subj: Scalpmed?
Date: 9/18/2006
I’m 18, and I noticed my hair is falling off, I have some visible spots, so I was thinking on buying scalpmed, I’ve read its no good. then I’ve read about procerin, seems like a good option. What do you think? Do you recommend me another product? Scalpmed?
Worried Man
AskDocWeb: We think you would be wasting money on Scalpmed.
Subj: Best product for female hair loss?
Date: 9/20/2006
I am a 45 year old female and experiencing hair loss, this has been occurring for quite some time now but is getting worse which product would be the best for this condition?
Odalis
AskDocWeb: Of course it depends on the cause but Minoxidil is the most often prescribed product for female hair loss.
Subj: Scalp med?
Date: 9/22/2006
I would like to see a review from scalp med please.
Mr
AskDocWeb: Sorry, they are not recommended.
Subj: Advecia, Nisim Biofactors and Provillus
Date: 9/28/2006
Hi, I’m confused between Advecia, Nisim Biofactors and Provillus. Do you have any data on what should I go with? I’m 26 and got a short haircut recently when I realized I’ve been losing quite a bit of hair (even though, I used to see a lot of hair falling while combing/shower, but I ignored that). If you haven’t done any reviews, it would be still be great if you have heard any negative feedback about any of the above 3. Thanks!
Kunal
AskDocWeb: Reviews on all three products seem to be positive. Whatever you decide to use, remember to share your results here so others can benefit from your experience.
Subj: Research regeneplex
Date: 9/29/2006
How do you go about researching products…I am interested in regeneplex but cannot find out anything about it except from their site. BTW…your site is great- very informative. I do not know how you get funding to continue this but I am sure people would subscribe or “donate” to your cause as long as they know that it is an unbiased review.
Nancy
AskDocWeb: Thanks Nancy. There are ads in the right hand column on each page that generate income. The research is time comsuming but a lot of information comes from the people who use these products. If you use something to remedy your hair loss, share your experience with others here.
