My mum gave me ibuprofen as I had sore ears and was feeling a bit sweaty. I didn’t have any food before taking it but I have now ended up having quite severe diarrhoea. I am 16 and a girl. I know this is listed as a side effect but is it because i didn’t eat beforehand or is it something more serious?
AskDocWeb: While it is true that diarrhea may be caused by ibuprofen there are many other causes in addition to side effects from medication. These include viruses, bacteria and parasites. In most cases diarrhea usually lasts a couple of days but sometimes it can last for weeks. In these situations, diarrhea can be a sign of a serious disorder, such as inflammatory bowel disease, or a less serious condition, such as irritable bowel syndrome. If it continues more than two days see your doctor.
I’ve recently started using Ibuprofen to lesson down my fever and joint pain then I noticed me having Brown discharge like symptoms, smelly once too, is it from the Ibuprofen??
AskDocWeb: That is not listed among the side effects for Ibuprofen. If it continues or becomes a concern consult with your doctor.
I also experience Hot Flashes while taking Ibuprofen. So glad to see I’m not crazy. I’m 53 and have had a complete hysterectomy when I was 38.
I have been taking ibuprofen regularly for a while now and I’ve noticed that I have been having vaginal discharge almost daily, could this be from taking ibuprofen?
AskDocWeb: There is a risk of serious and sometimes fatal stomach and bowel problems, including bleeding, ulcers, and holes in the stomach and bowel, is increased while using Ibuprofen. These problems may occur at any time during therapy, with or without symptoms. One survey of 58,098 people who have side effects while taking Ibuprofen showed 44 have Vaginal discharge.

Pressure in my thyroid gland
I also had a tooth pooled, and was prescribed Ibuprofen. I took Advil 400mg for couple of days, developed what looks and feels like yeast infection. I did not take any antibiotics before, during or after tooth treatment. I am not on any medications. I did notice after every dose of Advil I would feel pressure in my thyroid gland. Like its getting swollen a little. It this normal? or should I be concerned?
AskDocWeb: Swelling in the neck area is one of the signs of a possible thyroid problem so you may want to get it check out. The lab tests for determining this are TSH, Free T4, Free T3, Reverse T3, Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOAb), and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb).
4 Advil pm every day
I have trouble sleeping so for about 3 weeks I’ve been taking 4 Advil pm every day. The last few days I have heart burn and it feels like I have something stuck in my throat (but I don’t) also a metal taste in my mouth. Thank you.
AskDocWeb: According to the manufacturer; “Do not take more than 2 caplets in 24 hours.” Taking more is considered drug abuse because that is an overdose. Please contact your doctor or local poison control center for help.
Drug test result?
Does ibuprofen or certain blood pressure medicine cause a negative drug test result. Does any have thc ingredient as narijuanna?
AskDocWeb: When testing for drugs of abuse, a negative drug test result means that the drug was not detected. A positive test result indicates that the drug was dedected. Unfortunately the initial testing is not 100% accurate and may produce a false positive. We have compiled a list of things that may show up as a false positive here. And yes, Ibuprofen is on that list.
