Lipitor review
Date: 2/3/2014
Took lipitor for 5 years. I was unusually fatigued since. I had leg cramps nightly and sometimes just when resting on sofa. Every night i had to get up and walk around the house to rid of cramps. I drank orange juice and took tums and this did not help. I stopped lipitor and cramps went away. Took a dose a month after stopping lipitor and cramps again even worse than before. stopped lipitor again. No problems with cramps. Have my energy again. My cholesterol went up but i was not watching my diet. still my ratio was only 3.
EVERYONE that i spoke to that takes a statin has these same problems. i finally learned to take coq10 after 3 years of not knowing this was important. it helped with my energy but I still had cramps. I am done with this medication. Going vegetarian and doing a lot of cardio. This med turned me into a do nothing lazy woman.
Advice–do what you can to lower cholesterol without statins. If your ratio is under 4 dont take it. The docs put me on lipitor because my bad cholesterol is high but my good cholesterol was equally high. I had a low risk of cardio blockage. Should never have taken this drug.

Lipitor review
Date: 2/7/2014
I started taking Lipitor and Metformin about 3 mths ago, within 1 mth I noticed while laying in bed I I had pins and needles. After 3 mths my knees last night were on fire and both my feet had pins and needles, my right triceps felt week and my skin was hypersensitive. I can’t even sit with a Laptop on my lap, or sit in my favorite chair. My right foot went to sleep and I went to emergency and they said my bloodworm was a-ok. My emotions have been really messed up I am a type 2 and my numbers are 6.1 cholesterol and 6.5 diabetes. My doc suggested Lyrica for pain last wk, and ignored my complaints about Lipitor. I am going to stop taking this crap immediately. Another mth and I won’ be walking.

Allergic reaction to Lipitor
Date: 4/5/2014
This drug is pure poison! I had a severe allergic reaction to Lipitor. I didn’t know I was even having it until it must of reached a toxic level in my body. Signs and symptoms NOT to ignore. A significant increase in your blood pressure due to increase in blood sugar levels that lipitor creates. My heart was so loud that I could actually hear it pounding. Intense abdominal pain that felt like a UTI and felt like someone had a vice on my internal organs. Severe nausea and total lack of appetite. Itching, gaining belly fat, very winded, lots of bloating and gas, feeling like my whole body had a bad case of the flu. Chronic fatigue was also a symptom and horrible muscle pain in my knees and ankles.
It is going on 3 weeks since I had to do a cold turkey withdrawal. It has been pure hell, everyday filled with nausea and lower back pain, chills, sweaty palms, you name it, I have it. I wonder how long this torment will last? I am this close to checking into a hospital. I have never been this sick in my whole life. If you have any answers, please give me some hope of recovery.

AskDocWeb: The recovery time from an allergic reaction varies widely from one individual to the next. On a related note, according to one article from a group of MD’s (Outcomes in 45 Patients With Statin-Associated Myopathy) the recovery time for Statin induced muscle damage ranges from 1 month to 7 months with an average recovery time of 2.3 months. Good luck.
Coenzyme q10
Date: 6/12/2014
I started on lipator 10 year ago and for the first year I was also in extreme pain in my head. One of the other doctors in the office suggested co-enzyme q10. Ever since I started taking the coenzyme q10 50 milligrams I had never had pain in my joints again. I had suggested to a friend that was on Lipitor also a lot of pain to try the coenzyme q10 and his pain also went away. I highly suggest taking the coenzyme q10 with any ghost of Lipitor besides the fact that coenzyme q10 is very good for your heart. I hope this help your condition.

How long does it take?
Date: 8/29/2014
I started taking Lipitor a month ago. has anyone had problems with anxiety after taking it..I went to my Dr yesterday and she took me off it but she doesnt think its from the Lipitor. She said only 1% of the population has this problem..I think Im in the 1%..fog headed, anxiety, tired. panic attacks and just the last week cramps in the back of my legs..How long does lipitor take to leave your body?
Laura and this was 20 mg
AskDocWeb: If your elimination system is working as it should it will take just under 3 days for Lipitor to completely leave your body. How long the aftereffects may persist varies by a wide margin.

Excessive belching
Date: 10/27/2014
I began taking Atorvastin 10 mg. in Dec/13. Previously was on Crestor. Since Jan. 2012 have excessive belching. Is this a side effect of Atorvastin?
Darlene
AskDocWeb: Yes, belching or excessive gas is one of the less common side effects of this drug but it is on the list.
It’s a shame
Date: 3/4/2015
had a massive heart attack on 2/15/15 and was on Atorvastin 10mg for 6months, but was pushed up to 80mg after the attack. I developed the most sever lower back pain it was more painful than the attack. Told my Dr. and he just told me to stay on it to lower my cholesterol for one month. Are you kidding I could not go to the bathroom it hurt so much. I cut it to 40mg on my own and feel a lot better. I know my body and this was just not right. Why would my Dr. not listen to me. I knew when I was having my heart attack before he did. Its a shame that we are at their mercy. Hope this helps someone else.
Mary
AskDocWeb: We believe that everyone who is prescribed a statin should be required to read the black box warning before getting the prescription filled.
